hi, wish to find out if anyone has attended/hold their wedding at Grand Hyatt recently. There doesn't seem to be any recent reviews on this hotel. The fact that they do not have their inhouse chinese restaurant is kinda worrying. Wonder hows the food?

Hi wish4goodluck, i had my wed din in jun this yr. All my guests had many compliments over the food

In fact, we din make major changes during the food tasting too as we were quite pleased with the standard. My menu was the sat course.

Does anyone know if Hyatt is going to have a wedding show this year and would appreciate if anyone could share the pricing for their 2009 wedding packages.

Thanks!!

Hello Andy_n_Eva,

According to my coordinator she said there are no wedding shows coming up this year already.. they had theirs on 28th June already. the package that i'm taking is a full vege banquet, so i doubt it'l be applicable for u.. the pricing for 2009 is $1000+ per table. how much "+" depends on whether it's weekend and which room it is.

Hello wish4goodluck,

We are from the same bridal shop. :)
I am deciding between hyatt and marriott soon.
Have you signed up with them?

Hi Happybee, I've not signed the contract but have done the email confirmation. Will arrange a date with my coordinator to sign the contract.
I've never enquired abt Marriott but I find Grand Hyatt abit pricey, now hoping that we will not end up in huge losses.
Have you been to view the ballrooms?

Hello wish4goodluck,

Yups,i drop by to view the actual setting for various rooms and themes when they have weddings as informed by them. Actually Marriott is more ex than hyatt but Marriott is more negotiable. Btw, who is your coordinator? Anyone has Maran as coordinator?

Andy_n_Eva (andy_n_eva),
the price i paid is not a special price.
usually hotels wont lower their pricing... they will only accord complimentary items.

wish4goodluck and happy bee,
i was also considering marriott or hyatt.
but... after viewing the hyatt's ballroom/setup...
i was deeply in love with the black theme! hheee
the ballroom is nice but it has pillars la..
haiz.

Hello Jomel, yups i think the black theme is truly classy and unique. Like it alot too and true if not for the pillars, it would have been perfect. The other aspect i am considering is the coordinator as Marriotts' had been well known for their services. Mind sharing who is your coordinator and is he/she all out to plan for us? Thanks! Btw, can you share your pics with me...i will pm you on my email add. thanks!

redrubberslippers, the grand ballroom has no pillars but if you hv more tables and they need to open up the next ballroom for you, then there will be pillars

Hi this is my post here ^_^
I am thinking of holding my wedding dinner at Hyatt next year. But seems like they require us to pay a $5000nett deposit. Is this common? cos mostly other hotels require 20% cost of confirmed tables... Thanks...

Hi Fu Silken
Other hotels that i've come across required deposits of between 3k to 4k.
For hyatt, iirc their policy was revised either last or this year ,so yes its now 5k. I guess diff hotels have diff policies, its their way of ensuring the 'deal is sealed' or something.

melody, oh i see. do u know the grand ballroom can actually hold how many tables before opening up the next one with pillars?

Fu Silken, the 5k deposit was already implemented last yr when i booked the pkg. But it's true that many of my frenz only paid 2-3k deposit for other hotels. Think it varies ba...

Hihi...I'm new to this thread. I'm thinking of holding my banquet at GH. Been down there tdy and seems quite nice..But the ceiling of the grand ballroom seems a bit low. Do you all think it will not be tt nice cos of the low ceiling? How's the decoration for the ballroom? I'm afraid it will not not be classy enough as the decoration seems simple. Anyone held her wedding banquet there le can comment?? Thx!

I'm also afraid if the food will be nice cos their menu is abit different to others. Some of the dishes are a bit unique.

Happybee: My coordinator is Maran, and me and my fiancee find him a very nice guy. Gives us the sincerity feeling. We felt that he is willing to help us in everything. =)

Hi babyfaery, i agreed that hyatt food is indeed quite unique. My menu was a wkend one, not too sure whether there's a diff bet wkday & wkend course. But my guests had many compliments over the food
happy.gif

I did not get grand ballroom as i only hav abt 27 tables. I think the ballroom of hyatt gives pple diff feelings. I love cosy feeling so small to me is fine

If change my AD will have to push frm dec 09 to jun 2010 le...Bery frustrated...don noe how...The black n red theme from GH is very nice..but will ppl don like it?? If don choose tt theme...i don noe if the whole feel will be as nice...

Hi Babyfaery,

when is ur AD in Dec 09? i'm a Dec 09 BTB too and having it at GH too. Just paid my deposit yesterday. heh.
u know it might be pantang, but sometimes it's not so good to change AD dates too much.. just a sense i get from ppl in forums, friends etc. I personally feel it's fated if u choose a certain date and it is a good date.
I agree with u the black and red is nice, but guess sometimes some elders cannot accept it. My mum is 1 good example. haha. in the end i'm thinking of using the white and gold. still thinking about it.
which function room are u looking at? i think that plays a part in deciding ur layout of the theme.
think the white base theme can be classy. Just gotta make sure the flowers u chooe for the table arrangement doesn't blend in lor
happy.gif

just my 2cents worth. heh.

Hi Pebbles,

My AD is 6th Dec 09...Choosing their Grand Ballroom cos got need more tables...Bery fan now...hahah....my parents shd be okie...the Grand Ballroom the walls are green...so the black and red theme can actually make the place looks more classy...so for tt ballroom i think red n black theme is beta...now still in dilemma...cos this sat got wedding shop...it's either we sign or don..Haiz..

Babyfaery,

guess what? my AD is also 6th Dec 09 :D so qiao!! haha. I'm using Magnolia/Vanda Room
happy.gif
if u decide on GH then we would bump into each other..

i didn't go see the Grand Ballroom cos i doubt we'l have so many guests.

ur dilemma right, well, i'd say it's ur wedding, what matters is what you want and what u like right? i know it's natural to take into account parent's views. so as long as parents are ok, y should ur other guests have comments about it? that's what i feel la. imagine having to consider almost 400 ppl's views. how to accomodate??

babyfaery

New Member
Pebbles: Haha....wow...really so qiao...i think i saw u in the dec bride thread....Heez...I have to decide by tml le...Cos got wedding show tml...sianz...still dilemma...how's the food? Did ya change any food item??

pebblydiamonds

babyfaery: food? i haven't gone for food tasting, at the moment nothing to change. haha wait until next yr after my food tasting then i'l let u know. anyway my entire banquet is vegetarian, n heard pretty good reviews about hyatt's full vegetarian banquets, so that's y i chose them
happy.gif
plus felt can click with my coordinator la. haha.
i guess service wise, as hyatt does host governmental events, their standard needs to be of a certain level. i hope i won't be disappointed
happy.gif
jiayou! hope ur dilemma will b resolved soon. follow ur feeling.. wherever gives u best feeling.

hi pple,

I got married earlier this year at Four Seasons.. Chose it because of the capacity and also high ceiling.

But just wanted you all to know that I've attended three weddings in the past 3 years at Grand Hyatt and all the food and service was outstanding. I helped out at one of the weddings and the captain was very helpful. The food may be a bit different but don't worry. All the different menus were good.

As for the GH hotel suite, i only been to one and it's quite comfy and big.. My friend even had tea ceremony there. I saw The Regent's bridal suite and it's SMALL.

One note though, due to the hotel layout and security, you may have to walk some distance from your hotel suite to the ballroom/ function rooms.. Depending on which ballroom /function room you take up. And yes, you can request to solemnise at a nearby function room (if there is one vacant) just before the banquet commences.

CA, my AD is on Nov but after urs also and we have written in to Hyatt before they sent us an email. Had collected the invites and have also went for food tasting not too long ago. Will be good for u to give them a call direct.

Hi peps.. initially i was worried that the menu at Grand Hyatt would be too unique to the locals' likings.. but surprisingly I've heard positive feedbacks from friends who attended a weddings there recently, so now I feel more assured. Generally i find the hotel's services to be rather up to standard and the package is comprehensive, but 2 things really bother me. The choices of wedding favours are quite limited (and all edible items) and the wedding invites are really too simple and plain. What you ladies think??
Anyway I guess these are considered minor issues. =p

Hi, i have been for their food tasting and there are certain dishes that are quite salty. Am waiting for reply to change one of the dishes to be changed to something else as we didnt really like it.
For the wedding invites, usually its the standard like elsewhere, what u can do is to design the inserts and paste it/tie it to the card.
So far i dont really have any qualms with their service. Just some minor things here and there ie cant nego for perks

Hi kittyng, I'm glad to hear that. In fact, I'm contemplating making a trip to Bangkok or Vietnam to source for cheap and memorable wedding favours. I guess now with your assurance I can maybe save myself the trouble. =)
