Goodwood Park Hotel

Yah, had a glass at the wedding show...v ordinary

Red, if u r not taking their wines, did u ask for something else in exchange?

I am still pondering if I shd use the DBS cc to get free flow of red wines or stick to the 18 bottles.

Btw, altiora: I just received the official receipt by mail from GWP on the $800 deposit.

blueangel: Nope did not ask on that as i'm still deciding to sign up with them. Gonna meet another hotel co-ordinator later. I just have a sudden thought of asking the brand of wine.. as my galfriend shared with me a contact to get good price cornerstone, vino+ wines & etc.. Hmm...i thought free flow of wines is better than just 18 bottles? or the 18 bottles can bring back if unconsumed?

red: yup, you can bring back the unconsumed bottles (incl half opened ones). Mine is on a weekday so I am thinking 18 bottles may be more than enough for 25 tables.

Cocotintin is right, free flow of red wine only starts after the commencement of dinner. I dun mind serving red wine after the commencement of dinner but just thinking if I shd use DBS CC for the payment cos' I heard from my friend Standard Chartered CC offer cash rebate on yr bill.

Hi, i'm also a GWP bride. I'm based in the US, so quite hard to coordinate from here. I will try to be back in Sg at least 6-8 weeks before the wedding. I really, really hope that things will go smoothly (and that Raman answers our emails)!!!

Jerlicious: how's ur ROM at Aloha Changi?.. was it good?

was thinking of renting two bungalow for all my relative (from malaysia).. but they only open for booking 3 months b4 my actual day.. @_@" ..
still considering..

I am not too bothered, cuz ppl will throw away after the wedding anyway... I dun mind spending more $$ on the solemnization invitation though (which I will insert in with the wedding invite since they are both on the same day).

For those who only have 1 bottle of wine per table in their package, are u thinking of buying more bottles? I want to get some white as well, since corkage is free... but not sure if it is too early to "stock up".

actually in their package we can ask for both red and white wine den they will offset the number of free bottles we r entitled to.

It also depends on your guest, are they heavy drinkers? If they are and the number of bottles ur entitled is not enough for your crowd den u shld prepare more wine i suppose. Is the corkage for wine free? i thot its free for hard liquor only. Maybe i miss out on that. can someone confirm this?

Yes, we can ask for a mixture of red and white.. but if I am giving an option to the guests, then suppose will need to cater more (than then 1 btl per table provided) as well, as people will tend to try more when given a choice. But just wondering how long I can store the wine, so if I buy now, can keep until next year??

Cocotintin >> My corkage for wine is complimentary, up to the number of confirmed tables. So if I have 25 tables, I can have additional 25 bottles of wine, corkage waived. Corkage for hard liquor is complimentary as well, no limit. But I am on the older package.

Hey all!

I am so happy, Raman finally got back to us regarding the 2nd deposit. I have been waiting since the wedding fair on 18 Apr, since they had said the collection would be "within one week" after the wedding show.

Jace and Sherrlyyn, I saw that both of you are holding your ROM in the Tudor Ballroom. Can I ask what time is your solemnisation and whether you have to fork out any extra money for it?

altiora> Haha waiting for Raman to reply is like a miracle happening =)

Mine is at 6.30pm and I'm doing it in the ballroom so no extra charges.

Hi everyone,

Posting this for my friend. He is selling off his 20 bottles of Cornerstone Classic French Red from his recent wedding.

Selling off at $15 per bottle. Retail is selling $25+/-.
Its a good deal if you have free corkage (IMHO) .

Please email me [email protected] if you're interested. Thanks.

Hi lala, the wedding show in apr they gave extra bottles of wine on top of the confirm tables, more variety of invitation cards from dreamweaver (but printing must be done by them), if u pay by DBS cc, u can have free flow of wine after commencement of dinner or choose to rent a porsche. U can scroll up and see what we have discussed. I think there were a string of discussions abt the wedding show in this thread.

Which date r u looking at?

hi all, I went down to dreamweavers to select my cards yesterday, but find the printing from them is exp... I wonder whether I can just get the cards from dreamweavers and get other printers to do the printing... any advise?

Hi cocotintin,

Thanks so much for sharing the additional perks. Hmmm, rent a porsche? Thought bridal car is provided in the bridal package?

I'm looking at Nov/Dec 2011. So still not hurry to make bookings. But I went down to see the windsor ballrom, it's really nice!

Lala: not all BS package inclues a rental car. I suggest that you start sourcing for venues soon and try to book them early if u have already make up your mind because Nov/Dec period is a hot date for weddings moreover i think the package is not gonna change as they have just reviewed and made changes to the package early this year. I could not make up my mind and end up not getting a date i wanted initially so just sharing my thought and experience.

Hi cocotintin,

Thanks for your advice!

ya, my brother was telling me to book dates earlier too. But I was still thinking if I should wait for tongshu out to get an aspicious date instead. Tongshu for 2011 will be only available in Aug.

If I dun wish to have free flow of wine after commencement of dinner or choose to rent a porsche, do you think I will be able to ask for additional night stay?

BTW, I was thinking to hold my ROM in bridal suite. Have you seem the bridal suite before? is it big enough to hold ROM there? Maybe with immediate families in the bridal suite only.

Lala >> Not the bridal suite for GWP. They are slightly smaller and you will have your bags etc all around, so not very nice environment. Even with immediate family only, it will most likely be a tight squeeze.

I dun think can change for anything else, if u choose not to take up the DBS perks, as those perks are provided by DBS, not by GWP, whereas he additional night stay is provided by GWP.

You can also get an auspicious date based on your ba zi, rather than just waiting for tong shu. Tong shu just shows u general good dates for weddings, but those dates may not nec be best for u.

Hi Kass,

Thanks for the advice too! So can I upgrade the bridal suite to a bigger room so that can hold ROM ceremony there? Those with living room?

I get what you mean by the DBS perks already. Maybe I will forgo the perks as Standard Charter card got 5% cash rebate with $3000 spent above. So likely to pay with this card if the perks are not what I want.

Actually, i thought of calculating auspicious date based on ba zi but my bf is a christian and he dun believe. So i can only get a general good date for wedding.

Lala >> U can upgrade to a bigger suite... The bridal suite comes with a separate living room, just that the living room is quite small. You should arrange a meeting with one of the coordinators and have a look at the room.

gwp brides..just wanna ask, do u forsee a problem with photography in windsor ballroom because of mirrors in the ballroom? anyone with gd photo experience?
i am torn between GWP and fourseasons. GWP seems higher than fourseasons, but I think people still get impression that four seasons is more expensive than GWP

Nat Chew: how much is four season charging per table for weekend? any idea?

Actually it really depends on your budget and style. If you really like victoria colonial style den GWP is a nice place. Dont worry abt the mirrors, i spoke to my PG and he has taken pics in GWP before. I told him I'm concern abt the mirrors and the lighting etc but he told me the mirrors are very interesting and it is a nice place to take pics. Not difficult at all.

Natchew >> I don't think GWP is higher end than Four Seasons. At least not to me. And if I am not wrong, FS package is not as comprehensive but it is more ex. Ultimately, it depends on which hotel u like more.

If you google you can find pictures taken in GWP.

Kass: Yes my name is there. Dont know why my nick became a weird symbol in the spreadsheet, anyway i just edit it.

So long never see that list and so surprise the list grew by so much.

Hi Hi all GWP BTBs,

need some help here! am wondering if anyone finds the tudor ballroom too squeezy?? what is the optimum no. of tables for the ballroom for ease of movement?!! i LOVE the ballroom! just like the straits room at fullerton, but im just wondering if it really IS too squeezy (like guests have problems moving around...photographer and videographer can't move around either, etc). anyone has been to a wedding there before and experienced this squeeze?

also, anyone has any issues with the video LCD projector located at the back of the ballroom?

am choosing btw GWP tudor and Conrad Centenniel...help!

blueangel> care to share 3 sessions wedding band package with me? looking for affordable wedding singer for my wedding dinner. Thanks

Kass (strikingreality)> prob looking at around 20 tables, but I understand that guest lists usually grow and explode as the day draws closer...i'm worried about the PG and VG not able to move around! moments can only be captured ONCE!

Hey ppl,

Just wondering, have anyone of you seen the wedding themes using eustoma? So far, I've only seen the gerbera and roses one, so just wondering how the ballroom will look with Eustoma. Also, are they using the dark purple eustoma?

Glad if someone can help, cuz dun wanna trouble the coordinators...

Kass: I think the coordinators will normally give us the contact of their florist and we can liase directly with them. I think GWP florist is June florist and JM floral.

it is same price..coz 4S is 1138++ and +50 (wine) coz they r quite sticky abt corkage so its abt 1188+ . as for goodwood it is also 1188++

i am still undecided argh!! i must say GW improve alot from 5 yrs ago. love the facade. anyone has commnets on GW food? coz i know 4S food is gd

Thanks Nat for sharing. Which date are u looking at? have u gotten the coordinator to reserve the date for u prior u make ur decision?

GW's food will be supplied by Min Jiang, so i would think that it is not bad.

Yup, I attended a wedding dinner at GWP few yrs back & felt the food was not bad. Few days ago, me & fiance went to One North Min Jiang (at 5 Rochester Park) for dinner..their food din disappoint us either & their Peking duck is superb! So my assurance level for the banquet has been raised too. Haha..

blueangel>> thanks for sharing, price looks reasonable. I just emailed to check out their price again!
thanks!

hi..anyone know how is the sharksfin in goodwood? is it many small pieces or one big piece?
