Whao! One weekend away and so many postings. It's great to have this thread alive again.
Oraia and Canny, great job!
Angeline, ideal cut mainly refers to the proportions the stone is cut in. It gives no info about the clarity or color of the stone. Ideal cut just means that the table is 53-57%, and depth is 60.2 - 62.7%, girdle is thin to medium, no culet etc. (look at the "education" portion of
www.dirtcheapdiamonds.com) The term "ideal cut" is used too loosely by many jewellers but strictly speaking, like in AGS and GIA standards, a stone is not "ideal cut" unless it conforms to those specs. The AGS cert has one of the strictest selection criteria of ideal cut. It's not easy for shops to tell is your stone is ideal cut. What you can do is, if you have a cert, look at the cert and see if the specs are as described for the ideal cut. Or, if you get a hold of the "Lazare diamond" brochure, you can get an "ideal cut" specs there too. All Lazare diamonds are the strict "ideal cut". All these aside, I totally agree with Canny. It's ideal if it really captures your heart. Numbers are just numbers after all. A bit like finding a guy. You can write an entire checklist but at the end of the day, you find that chemistry is still the most important.
Hey teatree, I think it's a great idea to meet. Can all meet for coffee, sit around and gossip about diamonds. Then can ogle at diamonds too.
Canny, when's your new setting ready? Can't wait to see!
Teatree, where can I see you online album pls? I'd love to see it!
