Hi pwincesssamsam,

u can get JP Chan Kai Yao (62356143)to solemnise for u outside church.

But he is not a Pastor. I think he is an elder, now retired & work in a church.

He also use the christian way to solemnise for me outside church.

Hihi shirley, winterpolaris, wildwood!
happy.gif

wow your weddings are gonna be in the next 2-4 months' time!
happy.gif

Just wondering.. what time are your church ceremonies starting? Seems like everyone is having all celebrations on one day :D My only worry is that people don't want to come for church and just want to go for dinner (anyone has this concern?) I really think the church ceremony is so much more meaningful and would rather my guests be there :D

hehehe hi junee,

My church ceremony will start before lunch time. Is quite rush in the morning but at least there is this big gap of resting time in the afternoon
happy.gif

I would also think likewise church ceremony is very meaningful
happy.gif
and for dinner i actually make it personal and smaller scale. I don't think anyone would not want to see a church wedding, in fact most of my non christian friends are excited to see me hold a church ceremony
happy.gif
So i don't think you need to worry too much =)

Mine's long way to go.... 02.10.10 =)

I'm from Cornerstone Community Church. Will be having wedding ceremony there too. Forsee decor to be a lil tough tho', cos of the audi-style...

But tkfully it's near my place, so can cut down traveling time a bit in the morning.

Hi Junee,

My holy matrimony will starts at 10.30am . I keep it small for family & close friends as it'll be in the function rooms of the hotel. Don't worry, just follow your heart for the ceremony that you desire

Hi winterpolaris! So happy to hear your friends are excited about the church ceremony - I think it's a great chance for most of them to hear about God's love esp since non-church going friends don't usually have an opportunity to go to church anyway
happy.gif

Baby daffodil! My HTB's brother had his wedding at cornerstone - it was very pretty actually so don't worry.. flowers and ribbons do wonders. I have been to Cornerstone once and that was it so don't really know what it looks like sans deco hee.

Shirley: thanks so much for your encouragement
happy.gif
okay I think I won't worry so much :D

Hey shannon =) Usually the day before we will do the church deco. Or otherwise i used to have friends weddings starting @ 11.30am the deco will come in around 8.30am and shd finish in 1 hour + time. Unless ur church is superly huge then advise is do it the day before. =)

Hi sisters-in-Christ, am rather new to this forum, and was wondering if you have any list of churches to that I can rent to hold my church wedding? My own church building is new but my HTB and I would like somewhere with an 'olden' feel.

Like wildwood, I'm also planning to have everything (church wedding, ROM, banquet, etc) in 1 day - AD in Mar 2010. Anyone else planning everything in 1 day? Care to share the planned itinerary? It seems like such a feat!

Hey Mercey,

you want to consider my church? but hor i tell u our building abit rustic and old (means equipment also old) hahahaha :p

how come u duwant to use ur own church ? which church are you from =)

My holy matrimony will be at the hotel's function room itself, coz NCC dun have our own church building (can only held holy matrimony at the current place at weekdays, which is definitely out for us)

Have all of you gone through the pre marital counseling? How do u find it?

I think it's very useful, lots of tips & pointers that differs frm the worldly advices
happy.gif

winterpolaris

=) I been through already
happy.gif
very apt advice and also alot of hands on practical lessons
happy.gif

i encouraged alot of my friends who are attached to attend first so that they have an understanding what God intended for a marriage that would glorify Him =)

Hi Mercey! Welcome to the forum =)

winterpolaris: you're so cute =) mercey, what sort of 'old' are you looking for? Like traditional or old old? There're some churches along Upper East Coast that are very beautiful maybe you can consider (sorry I don't know the names - my HTB mentioned last time but obviously my ears are not open)

and yeah I agree with you on getting attached friends to attend to understand more about God-intended relationships etc!

shirley: I've gone for pre-marital counselling - 5 times with Touch and twice with my pastor. It's super super useful! I think it helps you confront real issues and talk through them rather than chance upon problems next time. It also helps to clarify issues like the roles of the husband and wife in God's eyes. I think it helps to start the marriage firmly with God in the center

Hey winterpolaris, haha, thanks! I will go check out your church website. I'm from RiverLife Church
happy.gif

junee, hello! I'm actually looking for those churches with traditional stained glass and maybe wooden pews
happy.gif
I know it's easier to find a Catholic church with such criteria but I rather not have my wedding in a Catholic church. I saw one along East Coast Rd yesterday with a nice stained glass! I have emailed a few churches to find out if they accept non-members to rent their venue/chapel.

shirley: I'm starting my pre-marital counselling this week
happy.gif
5 lessons in total. I anticipate it to be extremely valuable! Looking forward to it!!
happy.gif
Does your church offer such courses for couples? If not, maybe you can find out more from the Alpha Singapore office for more info:

Hi Mercey, I'd completed the pre-marital counselling in my church. Now pending the meet up with my wedding coordinator to walk through the Holy Matrimony procedure & rehearsal
happy.gif

I'll like to share with all of you about what happened to me past few days. As the wedding is drawing near, I'm getting stressed out as we still had some of the things which were not finalized. My HTB took my hand, looked me in the eyes & said "Don't worry so much. God is the most perfect wedding planner as HE had planned so many weddings. Our wedding will be perfect."

I was so engrossed in self effort, planning the wedding, wanting it to be perfect in evey aspects, that I did not let God to handle some of the situation. I then prayed & tell God the areas that I worry & the following days, the matters were all taken care of!

As BTBs, we tend to be perfectionist, wanting to have the perfect wedding. In case any of you are in my shoes, do remember that Christ is with you. Being the match maker of you & your HTB, and being his beloved child, He has your best interest in His heart. Every utter & every groan will be heard. Just remember that God is in control in every situation, down to the very details. If things matters to you, it matters to Him too!

Shalom!

Have a question to ask fellow btb here....was really troubled ....

Am a malaysian working here in singapore..I'm currently renting a room @ my htb house.. coz there's a few empty rooms and that i do not hv frens here in singapore when i first got here.
We are not sharing room(he is at the 2nd floor with his parents, i'm at 3rd with his bro and sis) ..

We are quite KS... so we make appt with a pastor at out church for our wedding at Dec 2010.. the pastor we meet requested me to shift out (although i've been staying here for 3 years already)if not, he might not ordain our wedding.. so now really at cross road..

am bit reluctant to move out not bcoz of my bf... it's just pure convenience (hv home cook food everynite) and the family feel i hv at his house (coz fren all in msia).... didn't wanna move out and face four walls and share house with strangers..sigh......

for me..church wedding is most important....and of coz pre-marital sex is a total NO NO for me.....sigh...I also understand the pastor's stand and his worries.... sigh...

so many things to worry about for a wedding...

Hi sw! Welcome to the thread! =)

Oh dear so sorry to hear about your situation... could you speak to your pastor again and explain to him your situation? Perhaps he does not really know the full picture? As Shirley said.. God's in control=)

Shirley: Amen to that! Thank you for your timely reminder!

Hey Sw welcome =)

I am glad you too understand your pastor's worries. If i may suggest, you can always seek an accountability partner on this matter and speak to your pastor again.

Hello Tulips =) where is your church? Your big day is in 3 mths time!!!

Shirley: Amen to what you said!
happy.gif
thanks for sharing and for reminding us that GOD is in control in every situation. I continue to hold on to the fact that HE is weaving a beautiful tapestry of our lives and that what we see are perhaps just the messy knots on the underside of the tapestry.

Hi sw, I hv heard of other couples with a similar living arrangement as yours, and it seems like it really boils down to the pastor him/her-self. I hv heard of a couple who explained the situation and was allowed to proceed with being solemnised by the pastor, and also another couple whom was strictly requested to live separately if they wanted to marry in church. Hope you can speak to your pastor about it again.

Thank you everyone for ur concern..am so touch..

ya..it's kinda sad ler... but it's really abit
embarrass... feel like being judge by what both of us are strictly against on..

it was the 1st meeting with that pastor.. and that's the 1st thing he brought up.....

my htb was abit discourage till he said don't need church wedding... but for me..church wedding is the most important ler...

Yea..perhaps should talk to the pastor again..
anyway.. think i will try to move out... pray to get a good place...

celinepuah

anyway, looking at the bright side.. my htb and I went shopping for 'Church' yesterday... ehehe

Have you girls secure a Church venue?

mercey

New Member
Hi sw, yup, pray you'll find a good place to move to if that's the decision between you and your htb.

For me, i find that a church wedding is also very impt. Was initially contemplating being solemnised just by any ROM solemniser or even outside a church venue, but after discussion with htb, we decided that a church wedding would be most apt.

I'm still 'shopping' for a church...many churches don't rent our their premise to non-members, so it's rather tough. Do you hv any leads?
happy.gif

celinepuah

New Member
yea... am shopping for church.. but the church we went to only accepts member.. >_<"

most catholic church are nice.. but i prefer a Christian Church.... hmmm

will let u know if i found 1 =)

mercey

thanks sw! yup, i have the same sentiments as you... i prefer a Christian church to a Catholic church
happy.gif

I found out that Trinity Methodist Church accept non-members to rent their premise but very ex, about $2500 + $500 deposit, and they aren't available on the date I want. So am still looking around...

sw: cos' my church audi is a little too big, we're settling for my HTB's ex-church - his mummy still there. HTB thinks not so 'pretty' but I'm okay.. his mum looks happy tho haha. The church elders still 'discussing' (sad) but then should be okay (cross fingers!)

sw/mercey: I downloaded fr another thread before a spreadsheet.. in the end didn't use it. not sure how updated it is tho - u can search on the forum or drop me an email [email protected] to take a look if u want
happy.gif
I really really not sure how updated tho!!

p/s: if I forget to email back just pm me too =) quite a scatterbrain sometimes hee.

winterpolaris - mine will be at my home church - agape methodist church. fiancé from new creation.

sw - u can try asking AMK methodist. Or Faith Methodist (along commonwealth mrt station.

our pastor actually journey with us throughout, which means we started our marriage prep class last year and only in Oct, we will have the last session. he spreaded out the sessions over the past one year.

Hey junee, thanks for the info
happy.gif
I actually downloaded that spreadsheet from this thread previously and it really isn't that updated. So I'm starting the search almost from scratch. Plus the spreadsheet didn't specify if the church is open to non-members using their premise. I contacted quite a few of them listed on the spreadsheet and they have responded that they are not renting their premises to non-members.
