Hi Jacqueline,

You mentioned about carpark coupons. Does Chijmes provide carpark for guests? Anyone managed to get from Chijmes? What %? Mind to share? Thanks!!

Siew Hui,

Chijmes does not provide carpark, they purchase the carpark coupon from the carpark mgt, therefore, they only provide 25% of the no of table you booked. Sure not enough to cover all the cars.....

Vanessa,

Welcome to this forum, wow u booked your banquet so early.....

jus attended a wedding at chijmes. its ambience is good, food is good as well. but the pillars sucks to the core. there were 2 rows of tables placed outside the pillars. and out of 10 seats in a table. only 1 seat can view the entire stage. all the others are blocked.

bcos of this reason, i find the couple's solenmization and yum seng ceremony was super 'cold'/messy and noisy. and the maximum is 25 tables. no extra tables can be set up. toilet is very far. u have to rent ur own projector and screen. not worth it in my opinion.

Hi Jeremy,
If you are a christian, you can try out Foochow Methodist Church at Race Course Road. Quite centralised location.

Hi Quan Gie

thanks for the tip. My initial plan was to hold it in a church but i've no idea where and how to start. Foochow methodist is some where near little india right? Are you a member there?

I had the same thoughts as babymiki. Was actually considering Chijmes, cos it's different and the package is actually quite ok. If you are serving western food, the food's from Capella, the restaurant, and I like Capella!

But the middle aisles can only take max max 18 tables (if you make the stage smaller). Can't really see anything if you are on the outer aisles. The pple there can hold their own party! Was not sure who I wanted to put as second class citizens.

Hi I am likely to confirm my booking with Chijmes very soon. Like the ambience. I've seen that at most 16 tables will be blocked, so I felt 20-22 tables still not so bad right? Any other things to look out for? thanks!

Hi Baby,

I think u need to take note of the waitors services provided on your wedding day, my guests did complained to me that those waitors attitudes not very gd.

Other than that, everythings are all right.

hi,

im thinking of renting the hall for my church wedding.
but i dont intend to cater food from them.
does any one know is that ok?

on the website, it is stated the hall rental fee will be waived if above 200 pax, but it doesnt state tat u have to cater food.
but my FH said then how does chijmes earn if we dont cater food from them and yet we have 200 pax.

pls advise.

thanks alot!

That is ok - but you will need to pay the hall rental charge and you can't bring in your own caterer.

Hall rental will be waived if you cater food from them for at least 200 pax. Hope this helps.

hi BB queen, I've booked my wedding banquet in Chijmes for 22 Dec 2007. I'll be having an outdoor renewal of marriage vows at the lawn, followed by 8-course dinner for 300 guests in Chijmes Hall itself. When do you plan to have your wedding?

hi Jacq, if u have less than 200 guests, i won't suggest u hold it in chijmes. Cos they will charge u hall rental if u have less than 200 guests. i'm holding my wedding on 22 dec 2007. so far, i'm very happy with their service. if u need to find out more, can email me at [email protected]

I am planning to hold my wedding in Chijmes too. Will be using an external caterer for my event. Cost wise is around $10 cheaper than their inhouse caterer. I cant poster my caterer name here. Drop me your email here and i can share my contact with you.

Hi strawberrie, the cocktail reception is held at the lawn next to Chijmes Hall. Projector and screen have to pay extra. I'm paying 1200 bucks for 3 screens, 1 projector and 1 stationary video-camera with videographer.

for those of you who intend to sign up with Chijmes, do apply for the DBS Woman's card if you have above 25 tables(i.e 250 guests). If you pay for the dinner using the card, you're entitled to 1 free table.

For CHIJMES,rental is $4000 for 4 hours(w/o catering from them). If i only need 2 hours and rent out the other 2hours to another couple, do you think is possible? I mean, all of us like the church but its really very expensive to just use it for 2 hours. If someone would use the other 2 hours, we could split the cost.Great idea?

bb_queen

Great idea but you have to find someone who has the same wedding date as you...when is yours? Then both of you have to agree on the deco and the time slots.

berrie27

wow, thats good advise..
for e recep at the lawn, what kind of decor will there be? isit good? i may sign up next week once my fince is ok. he not in sg lah,,, so i decide.
mine will on jan next year. better secure dates too.
buzzy bee, u paid $1200 for projector n screens? quite ex yah? thats means the video guy will broadcast live?
another thing is a long aisle, ppl behind cant see the screen right? u think 2 screens 1 projector can do? and pillars?
any perks i should ask?
also food n service? comment? sry... to bother u with all qns...

vane

New Member
hi strawberrie, 2 screens...that means there won't be 1 on stage leh. it's up to u...i opted for 3. initially, my hubby wanted to ask for 5 screens...2 right at the back of the hall near the entrance. but chijmes say logistically they can't do that. i wanted to save the hassle of liasing with external vendors, so asked Jenny to help with the projector n screens. it also comes w the video guy who'll help u capture live moments and after which burn the whole video on a disc(i think it's either dvd or vcd). i think i'm fine with the price.

i booked last nov for 22 dec 2007. when i booked, i was told that the only sat left in dec is 22 dec. that's why i quickly signed the contract. how many guests are you expecting?

as for the deco at the lawn, if it's just cocktail...they'll just put some tall round tables(nicely done up with bows n table cloth). nothing much though. mine will be a solemisation setting with chairs for 40 guests n a pastoral table in front, cos i'll be having a ceremony for the renewal of marriage vows.

i haven't gone for food tasting yet, but heard the food is good. service wise, i'm very pleased with the services of their coordinators. that's about all. let me know if you need more help. =)

hi bb queen, renewal of vows starts at 6pm, followed by cocktail reception then dinner. i have 30 tables. so about 14 tables will be blocked by the pillars. my husband was quite concerned that guests sitting on the wings will have a hard time trying to see what's happening on the stage.

berrie27

hi all. i visited chijmes yesterday and yes the ambience did look really good. I jus applied the dbs card so get the 26th table free. onve my card is approved, will book the package asap. i think parking is no issue, guests can park in raffles city. toilet will only be a slight pro. e rest of the logistic shld be no issue. e only thing is that the stained glass will not be as pretty at night.
im also still thinking of the projector, should hire or not. i be gettin about 25 tables... hopefully the food is as good as u all said. Any chijmes brides gg food tasting, pls tell us ur opinion. best of luck!

I think you can pay to have the stained glass lit up at night. It will be very nice but I think it's very expensive.
