Asian Civilisation Museum (ACM)

Hi Jajah,

If you are keen to do "ala carte", you can consider other venues like SAM where they have a church like audi for solemnisation and a glass foyer for dinning, linking to an open courtyard OR Art house where they have a cosy room setting. I guess it all depends what kind of style you are looking for ya.

Other than that, i have also checked out Fullerton, Mandarin Oriental, Gallery Hotel, Pinecourt, Sheraton... But i finally went with Fullerton cos we fallen in love with their Straits Room ;)

Hi Jajah,
Its still quite affordable for us, taking the lunch session.. per table is about $900+. But as the room has limited capacity (max only 12tables), we will be having a 2days lunch for different crowd of guests. We are planning to have sit down for 1st day (for relatives) and buffet for 2nd day (frenz and colleagues).. So wun feel "bored" having the same setting for both days

Hi everyone,

Haven been logging in since feb. Just want to share my wonderful wedding experiene in ACM on August 16 2008.

Everything went on smoothly according to shedule on my wedding day. Big thanks to ACM management, Jennifer and caterer Rasel Food Fusion, Elsie, who makes my wedding a prefect one.

Tentage was nicely done up, decoration was beautiful, food yummy and good service provide by staff on site. Many of my guest even thought that I'm catering from hotel instead of caterer. The set-up and food provide so nicely done up and I can't believe that a caterer can provide such a services. Lucky that I did not arrange for hotel instead.

Hi ladies, I'm holding my solemnisation and wedding dinner reception at ACM next year. Have appointed Rasel to cater the dinner buffet and am glad to read so many good reviews on their food and service!

Am having some difficulty trying to figure out how the day will run though... Any of you did your solemnisation just before dinner? If so, was it done in the River Room or on the River Terrace? And what was the set-up and seating arrangements like?

I'd like to have my solemnisation on the River Terrace, with guests seated theatre-style but afraid the caterer would need to set up all the banquet tables (it's a sit-down buffet) outside too, and I just can't get my head around the arrangement. Anyone have any advice or photos from their AD to share? Would be much appreciated!

Hi Peaberry,

Was hoping to do an outdoor wedding too. We have the same idea of having the solemnisation and wedding dinner but have no idea how will it work out and the cost of tentage etc.

Hope you are willing to stay in touch via MSN or email to talk more about it.

My email add :[email protected]

Hi Ladies,

I'm also planning for my wedding next march.
Glad to found this threads, have fill up brain with all the booking and other wedding needs.

I have appointed Rasel as well (heard quite afew good comments from friends and on-line threads). They even extend their services to book the venue on my behalf, think that save my time to liase to another person too. Their packages seem reasonable in price and has variaty of dishes. They deliver the food sampling to my place even before we sign up, that actually pleased my in law.

Anyone needs help can check with me too..

Jajah, you have mail!

Hi there Eileen, glad to hear that you've booked ACM and Rasel too. Will be meeting my coordinator from Rasel this Friday to discuss table arrangements and more. Hope all goes well!

peaberry,

who will you be meeting? My coordinator from Rasel was Elsie. Just wondering if it's the same person. Anyway good luck to you!

Eileen, my coordinator is Joanne.

I think she's probably sick of all my queries and emails, but she's been so professional, prompt and polite. Really a pleasure to deal with so far and hope our meeting on Fri is fruitful!

Heard lots of good things about Elsie too, and all the best to you too! Will you be doing both your solemnisation and dinner at ACM?

Peaberry,

No, it will be done on a seprate date. So far my experiene with them are quite good, no hiccup! All the best to you for meeting tomorrow, hope you can get the best deal out of it.

Hey Eileen, the meeting went really well and we got to meet their Creative Director, who went through every little detail with us, from the colours of the seat covers to tentage set-up and even wine recommendations.

Looks like this Creative Director will be the one handling the actual event, while Joanne is taking care of our paperwork? Haha in any case, we were thrilled after the meeting and even my FH got excited just hearing the ideas dished out by the Creative Director.

Due to some new developments, I might be getting Rasel to cater my church wedding high tea reception on the same day, so the contract will still have to be revised. Nothing additional on top of that yet, still in the works. But so far very happy with their service and we trust that we're in superb hands...

How goes your planning? Hope all is going smoothly too!

Peaberry,

Have settle most of the wedding stuffs. Have never meet their Creative Director before,so far Elsie is the one that's helping us. Just seen her last week to view the place and discuss the balance details.

Hi Jastea / Eileen,

Am sourcing for our wedding venue and ACM is one of our considerations. How were your experiences organising yours? Was wondering if it's more time consuming to organise it at ACM instead of hotels because we have to arrange for catering, set-up, etc ourselves. At hotel we can rely on the hotel coordinator.

Are the setting of marquees essential?

Understand from the website that ACM has a list of approved caterers, can someone share the list of caterers please? Quality of food quite important for our parents lah!

Many thanks!

Hi, i'm new to this thread. I just wrote to ACM to check availability of the River Room and Terrace for my wedding dinner.

The cost of setting up the marquees seems scary... 5k+ in a post i read earlier in the thread. Can someone share the breakdown of your total cost in having your wedding dinner there?

Thanks!

Heard there may be loud live music from the eateries below (IndoChine), that may be a bummer for weekend nights

Hey Lai, I'm coordinating the wedding prep between my caterer (Rasel) and ACM by myself, and so far it's been very smooth as Rasel is extremely professional and experienced with the venue itself.

It definitely helps to pick a good caterer, and because Rasel is one of ACM's preferred caterers, they act as the sole contact point for both parties to minimise all subsequent liaising. If you can PM me your email address, I can send you ACM's list of preferred caterers.

Marquee set-up is essential only if you're having tables or your buffet liner on the River Terrace. I was advised that the River Room can accommodate only 15 banquet tables and one buffet liner. I'll be setting up the marquee for my additional tables, with an additional buffet liner outdoors. The marquee is sold in units, so it can range from a few hundred bucks to a few grand. Your caterer should be able to advise you on how many units you will need.

Other things you may like to consider when holding your banquet outside of a hotel would include sourcing for your own wedding favours, alcohol, invitations, miscellaneous accessories (i.e. ang pow box and guestbook), parking, wedding cake, etc. It sounds like quite a handful, but it's a dream come true for couples who want a truly unique wedding as you can get to determine every single detail.

Hope this helps!

Hi Peaberry,

Many thanks for your advice! Made me feel more positive and motivated about organising my wedding @ ACM and addressed some of my concerns.

I've PMed you my email. Could you send me the list of preferred caterers please.

Many thanks!

Hi Lai,

I have tried Rasel food before and have confident with them. Basically ACM has their own official caterer and Rasel is one of them. I have tried the others but don't really like the taste.

Tentage won't cost you that much, they are charging it at $650 per unit. I'm not arranging for tentage at this moment but still keeping the option open in case my guest list increases.

Hi Eileen,

After a long discussion with my FH and family, we've decided with Conrad for our lunch banquet. The invitee list also started getting longer. Many thanks for sharing!

Peaberry --> Wanted to also thank you lots for sharing ACM advice earlier!

Thanks all!

Is buffet the only way out for holding weddings at ACM? Parents are quite adamant in doing a proper banquet. Is it fine with the management if we were to decide on other caterers?

Hi Chobee,

If I'm not wrong, if you do not use an approved ACM caterer, there is an additional fee of $800. I initially wanted to get Tung Lok because they have packages for sit-down chinese banquet style.

You can check with the list of approved ACM caterers if they do banquet style!

Cheers!

Hi everyone, due to unforeseen circumstances, I have to let go of my ACM wedding dinner slot on 21st Nov 09. The slot is for 5pm - 11pm and interested couples need only pay us back the $2k deposit that we've already made. Please PM me if anyone's interested, thanks!

can anyone share their experience or pics to me on ACM and Rasel. Thinking of getting them but worry that people might give little red packet. The price with rental dont seem to be that cheap in total.

Thanksssss =)

Hi,

i am new here. Am interested to plan for my wedding dinner to be at ACM. however was wondering if anyone is able to share pics on their wedding there as i myself have not been to a wedding there as yet.

Ello
I had the privi to attend 2 of my fren's wedding on 19 Dec @ both ACM and National Museum. To my surprise, the weddings reception were catered by the same caterer (Rassel). The set up was super nice lei. One was sit down lunch and the other was a standing cocktail.
They must be good to be doing so many events at these places.

Hello Cat

I was considering Rasel and a few other caterers such as Purple Sage and ISS. Do you happen to know if they have food tasting?

Casey,

I think normally upon confirmation, there should be a complimentry sampling unless chargable before confirmation.

Rasel just delivery sampling food to my place 2 days ago for sampling. Yummy!

Purplesage - I went to their wedding show last year. Frankly, I got no excuss to cater from them. They did badly even at their own exhibition. How can I expect them to preform better during my wedding day? It's too risky..

ISS - They are cheap, but not up to standard. Food so so, decor have to engage florist cause their decor cannot make it. Too troublesome..
I rather go for hassle free

Hi Amanda

Thanks for your advice. let me know if you hear of hotels or caterers having wedding shows this year? think it's better that i go down and take a look.. when's your wedding?
happy.gif

Hi Casey,

Last September. It was cater by Rasel at ACM. Good job done! I book them when they are having a wedding workshop in ACM. Hassel free! Food and ACM booking all taken care by Rasel.

Rasel do not offer a standard theme, we can have free play on our selection and ideas. Anyway I took their suggestion of having the fairy theme, shades of pink, purple, red, green and beautiful butterfly and birdcage. We pay abit more to pick up this decor, worthwhile! Many of my friends thought that I had external florist to decor it. Actually at first we talk to afew florist, but what they quoted us was a few k compare to Rasel afew hundreds.

Hi Casey,

Happy New Year!

Well, I went phuket during the Chinese New Year to stay away from City. Relaxing enjoying the nice beach and seasports. Althought I abit tan now but I simply love it.

How about you?

Hi Jess

oh, that's a nice place for relaxation. isnt it more ex to go during CNY? as usual, visited my relatives and friends.
CNY is getting boring in Singapore.

Hi Jess

Quite slow because my bf and I dont really have time except on weekends
sad.gif

I've not booked ACM but i heard it is a nice place but not so convenient right?

Hi,

Im pretty new here.

Can any share wat is the pkg like for ACM?
Can it be done for sit down dinner?
Izzit exp, any max?

Rasel seem to be gd, is this an caterer?

Casey,

Why not get Rasel to help you on the booking? I think it easiler, at least you don't have to take care of booking? or concern whether your favourite date taken.

I find it quite convenient cos it near to MRT station. I printed the map at the back of my invitation card on the parking area as well as nearest MRT station. I seek help from my caterer and I believe they are more experiene than me over at ACM. Think it's quite useful. Non of my guest complaint about the parking so far. You can ask your guest to park at Bank of China, UOB Plaza (cheaper parking rate) or Fullerton, Arts House (which is more X).

Blur crab,

oh yes, Rasel is one of the official caterer in ACM. Prices wise reasonable especially in town area. I spent about $80 including rental, food and decor.

So far so good, well I'm planning for another oversea trip in October. Where do you plan to go for your honeymoon? I think there is this nata fair things going on now but I'm not sure it at expo or suntec. did'nt actively searching, too busy..
