Dear all, I am interested in visiting the above countries and would like to know more about them especially from those who have visited these countries?
Can you kindly tell me:
1. When is the best time to visit the above countries
2. What is there to see?
3. Which is much more interesting as in scenery & sightseeing?

By the way, when is the next Natas Fair coming

THankS!!!!

hi garfield

we went to nepal for our honeymoon and visited two places - kathmandu and pokhara where the annapurna ranges are. It was definitely an insight, we learnt a lot abt their culture and how the nepalis lived but at the same time, a definite culture shock.

Kathmandu is generally chaotic, esp within the city of Thamel where most tourists stay - it's pretty polluted, no road regulations and half the time shopkeepers are cajoling you to go in or buy something. There are many shops and fun knick knacks if you enjoy shopping.. although it can get very stressful walking ard the area.

Sights to see, temples, temples and temples (Swayambhunath or Monkey Temple, Bodhnath Stupa). There's also the Pashupatinath temple which is located by the Bagmati River where they have open cremations. Go to Durbar Sq in Kathmandu itself. You can also take a walk around the ancient cities of Patan and Bhaktapur.

If you have time, you might want to spend one or two nights at Nagarkot. We only went up for a few hours and regretted not knowing abt the place earlier. It's the highest point where you can get a good view of the Everest ranges (incl a little bit of Mt Everest). It's also a very peaceful and serene area where you can overlook Kathmandu city.

The 6 hour bus ride north-west to Pokhara is definitely worth it. There, you get a clear view of the Annapurna ranges. You can spend a few days there to relax by the lake as well. You can hike up the hills of Sarangkot to have a fantastic view of the ranges.

Another place where i did not get to go, but was highly recommended was the Royal Chitwan National Park. There, you get to see the wildlife up close in their safari.

Nepal is not what you call a typical honeymoon. You have to be prepared that their standard of living is totally different from back home. So you've gotta be prepared to 'rough it out' there and don't be surprised if things don't always work there. Their 3-star hotels is a whole different classification from our 3-star hotels. But if you don't mind all these, Nepal is good fun

We went in Oct and according to the travel guides, Oct and Nov is the best time to go there because it's after the monsoon season. Weather there is generally cooling - unless there's the sun. So it's warm/hot in the day, cool/cold when there's no sun. Bring sunblock tho! I didn't, and ended up getting an uneven tan because i was hiking in my short-sleeved t-shirt. heehee.

I will recommend that you pick up a copy of the Lonely Planet as it'll definitely come in handy

Hi,

Me and my friend is interested in going to Nepal, but am not very comfortable with going on our own as we do not know the place and my friend has mild asthma condition. Is there any recommendation for group tours? TQ

Hi,

Talking about Nepal , it is so far the most rememorable place I have gone too. The trekking and scenery is beyond words. Especially when you trek up the mountains where the snow is.

You will definitely have a memorable time there.

However you need to be well prepared to make the memory a good one.

If you are planning for honeymoon, it may not be my first choice to go there, unless you just visit the capital kathmandu , the national park , and other cities, with minimum trekking.

If you trek up the mountain (hey this is where all the fun is ! If not why have you chosen to go Nepal ?) , you must train long distance walking and climbing. If you think climbing bukit timah hill is tough, then can forget abt this.

You can be 3-4 hrs just climbing and climbing.
For those who are fit, it will be viewing scenery and photo-taking along the journey. For others, it will be looking at the ground while walking and looking for rocks to sit down and pant when halt to wait for others.

On the mountain, it is all about nature and nature. Just remember to bring along an umbrella when nature calls, especially for the ladies. And remember the rule, boys left ladies right, when all need to relieve at the same time.

Need to watch out for mountain sickness where you ascend too fast up the mountain. This is caused by a sudden changed in air pressure.

Well if you done sufficient training and preparation, it will be a trip full of fun and memory. I guarantee you the memories will be with you forever.

If anyone of you is interested to view some pictures, I can post some pictures of nepal on the web.

Hi garfield,
Suggest that you borrow some travel guide to read. I am planning to go Greece for honeymoon but just Athens and the Greek islands. In Athens, it's sightseeing, the monuments etc. If you like the sun, sea and sands, then you should head to the Greek islands with those white-washed architec. Best time to go is off-peak in Apr-May.

Hi,
Me and my hubby just came back from Nepal for honeymoon. We did not join any tour from here. It was a fun and unforgettable experience.

Let me know what are the things you would like to know and perhaps I can share some of the info.

I went a few years ago to Greece in May or early June when its just before both peak season as well as the super hot summer. So its both bearable temperature as well as cheaper. Athens is good for shopping and seeing the old buildings. but I wldn't spend more than 2 days there. You should go out to the islands to enjoy the beaches which are absolutely fantastic. For a cheap price you can get good accommodation right by the sea. very very nice to lounge by the deckchairs and sip some cold drink. both the sea and the sand are very very nice. very soft sand and extremely blue waters.

hi atreyu,
i am thinking of going anthens as well.
intend to travel there for 3 days n embark on another island.can you tell me more about ur adventure as u say u will not spend more than 2days there.what other islands are nice?

Dear All,

I'm currently planning for a honeymoon in mid Nov to Greece.

Wonder if its a good season as it seems that lotsa things/ hotels and restuarants are closed from Nov due to winter. Any one has experience / advice to share?

Could someone share with me the iternary as well? Thanks a million!

[email protected]

Cheers

hi guys...i've just gone to Greece and the Cyclades islands for HM in May 07. What would you like to know? PM me kz. i seldom check the thread but will respond to the PM.

Most places on the Cyclades islands will be closed from late Oct to April. So dont think its possible visiting during that period. But not sure abt other island groups. Athens can still be visited at end to early part of year but i seriously dont recommend. nothing fantastic about athens. the most painful leg of our HM actually. haha

Hi all, planning for a HM to Greece, and would like to find out more about it. Any feedbacks? Good and bad experiences? Stepford, just PM you and hope you be able to share your traveling itinerary with me? Thanks alot.

Hi all, am planning to go Greece for my HM but I've read from an article that the good period for going there is from mth of Apr - Oct. Other then these periods, most of the stalls there will be closed and the stall holders will then go for their trips. My AD is in Nov so can't go straight after that. Anyway am planning to go & hope anyone who has got the itinerary from Stepford could also forward to me at [email protected]. Much appreciate it. Thanks : )

Hi Shem, which period are you thinking of going? I can share some experiences with you. also our initerary. PM me kz.

Hi Kiki, if you are planning to go to the Greek islands, Dec is not a good time to visit. Most of the hotels are closed during the winter season. The best time to visit is between mid May to early Sep, July and Aug is their peak season, have to pay more for the hotels.
