Hi all,

I am newly registered and need some advice. Appreciate if you kind souls could help me here.

1st Question - Anyone had experience in dealing with cancellation of a Hotel wedding banquet just weeks before AD (date is too close to transfer the package)? The contract clearly states that the couple is liable to 100% penalty... anyone managed to negotiate it down?

2nd question - We have already ROM-ed and if the wedding banquet went through, will it be possible the marriage be annulled? Key point is that both not living under one roof as flat is not ready?

1 - need to neg with the hotel on this, some are fine with couple transfering their package.

2 - you can annul your marriage even tho you have went thru customary.

for Q1, time is too tight for the transfer. So I wanted to know if anyone had to negotiate for the penalty and whether the outcome was 100% or not. Also the tactics used for the negotiation.

For Q2, I have heard alot of people saying after customary there is no way that a marriage can be annulled; at the same time some mentioned that it is possible. I understand the part that the couple must be in sync; just that I wonder if a lawyer is willingly to assist in the annulment or just plainly suggest a divorce or even charge extra for the annulment just because customary was done.

Sorry for being so long-winded, just wanted to get the facts right.

1, it may be different even if others managed to neg their penalty, differ hotel, differ policy. How much is the penalty that you have to bear if you were to cancel it?

2, yes, there are some couples manage to get their marriage annulled even tho they had their customary wedding. When did you register yr marriage?

2. 1 year plus.

just tell the hotel folks you are getting an annulment and your financial situation doesn't allow you to pay for the entire dinner.
