Dear all, reading your updates makes me feel excited too. I am an Oct bride too. Pls advise when should I start my gown selection. My prewedding shoot is in June. As for the ROM dress, when should I start selecting it? Thanks a lot

carebearz: Oh mine only 1 day. The helper room given is only a function room with shower but not bedroom.

joy79: Check with your BS on the duration required to alter the gowns to fit you. Then you can go for the fitting before that. If too much in advance, size may change and there may also be new designs for gowns if it's later.

Levonne: My friend booked a pink london cab. If you want contact then let me know. I have yet to source for car too. Think will do so nearer to date.

Hi everyone, new member here. Really surprised to see that there is actually a thread for brides in October 2011.
happy.gif
A few questions I have:

1. Fiancé and I are not inviting friends on AD wedding dinner. Not inviting colleagues as well. We are pretty much introverts who don't keep constant contact with friends. Therefore, I was wondering if helpers are really needed on AD? Also, during the tea ceremony in the day, we are not doing the gatecrashing thing. So are helpers still needed?

My emcee is a buddy I kept contact with and our ang pow keeper is my brother. People who are signing in guests are a few other cousins.

2. Anybody can recommend MUA? Can PM me?

Read through the thread from the start to July 2010 :p

My wedding date is 30 Oct 2011, wedding dinner at Four Seasons, have not decided on PG yet as we are on tight budget. Blew on COV and renovation that will start in April.

Renee, for montage..try Window Live Movie Maker :>

Levonne, www.weddingcars.sg have a wide range of selection..I might be considering them.

Lyn, initially i was considering the pink london cab too but my hubby doen't like the idea of booking a taxi as wedding car & he already rejected afew of my suggestions haha

Hi Joy, i) how many tables do u have for ur banquet? May be 1 or 2 helpers in the morning, at least someone can help to hold ur long gown or to carry ur stuffs around? During banquet, u will need receptionist & ppl to bring ur guest to their table.

ii) Any budget for MUA? I engaged Angel Chua, she just opened a shop of her own http://angelchua.multiply.com/

iii) What's ur budget for PG?.. perhaps many of us here can recommend?

Hi Michelle, I believe you are 30 Oct 2011 bride too?
happy.gif

I guess I shall try to arrange for helpers.. my budget for MUA is $500 for tea ceremony and dinner. My budget for tea ceremony and dinner photography is $700. Reason being we aren't doing the usual yum seng and table to table photo-taking. If PG can take shots of us at the hotel or other scenic areas before the AD, budget will be $1500. Really really tight as we are already spending $100K cash for reno and COV. Nothing much left.

Will contact the vendors you listed as recommendations. I'm quite late in my preparations already..

Joy I'm not too sure if any PG can cater to such special request at a low fee. Reason being if they cater to your special request, their day is blown. They cannot cover another wedding already.

You might wanna consider having a friend to help out for this case. Maybe a friend who's enthu about photography or some freelancer.

As for MUA, I think Sanlia is great. Not sure she's been engaged or not. Cos she fits your budget for MUA, if I didn't rmb wrongly. :)

Love the service there! hee . Always very happy when I go there.

I have selected my AD gowns already .

Been To Ric-A-Mona too , but I dont like their service so much compared to My bridal Room . For me , I like their photo albums better than Rico-A Mona, so it your choice !

Hi Levonne

i think still have some time to slim down ba? My PS is first week of March and I am also rushing to drop more weight.

Someone told me its more import to slim down by AD cos for PS, they can still edit the images.

Joy: I tentatively book Sanlia for 30th October but I decided to choose the mua assigned by my bs. I have been fickle-minded but decided to go with the mua my designer has chosen for me. Was reluctant to let Sanlia go! ïŒ say hi to her for me. . she’s a really pretty and gd mua! :D

Hello Jim
happy.gif
my AD is on a Monday, 10th October. but not sure if my parents in law like the idea. we are not going to hold a banquet, probably just a nice buffet at the lawn of his house. Will be a very small affair. I got a simple gown, make up my sister is going to do for me. So I think the only thing I am going to spend on is photography.

min: I choosed Vocare as my VG. Recommended by a fellow Oct bride, Ellen. I found them rather good after meeting up and discussing on my photo montage. They are able to do up the express highlight for my lunch which i think is very important.

michelle: I bought my high heels (5 inches i think. Look rather high.) from City Plaza. Very ex but negotiated for some discount. No time to shop more and i like it so parted with my $. I'm flying back in a few hours time. Just went to visit a PG at 10.30pm. Amazing right? Did OT for us.

Lee: vocare is not bad … went to view their works b4 and their prices are ok(but I choose moomedia ultimately as got more ‘feel’ for their works) … didn't recommend u as thought ur budget for vg and pg is only 2k ...

glad u managed to settle most of ur stuff before gg back to oz .. so which pg did u choose in the end? Vocare has pg services as well yah . .u didn't take up their combined package?

How’s ur ps gowns @ le grand?! Their gowns are lovely .. :D

@Lyn: Congrats on settling VG and gotten your shoes. Wow, they are able to do the express highlights for your lunch? That is nice! How much are they charging you? Is it part of the Perfect Love package?

hi everyone..

lovebliss: I got it for 2.4k which includes video for 10 hrs + lunch express highlight and photo montage with interview.

Vivi: Yar, i know there's lots of higher range ones but dont want to spend so much. My favorite is still Mayah but it's 7k.

Vocare has photos and got $500 discount if take up combined package. Very attractive. But i dont quite like their photos. So no use paying lesser when it is not what i want. Besides, it is still $1500, not a small purchase. So better find something i like. Hence, did not sign up for their PG.

I have shortlisted PG, yet to sign up yet. But met up with 3 before coming back. Just back in Aust last night.

Ellen: Thanks for the recommendation. I cant rem if it is the Perfect Love package. It's just the 2k one that they state on the flyer for 10 hrs video. They need about 4 hrs to do the lunch highlight. So I will be able to play after the 2nd march-in. First half, i will play the childhood photo montage which is also done by vocare. They will also do a studio interview with our siblings and close friends to add into the montage so wont be just like a slideshow with music.

michelle: I think it is super hectic. There goes my holiday. 1 week hotel, 1 week BS, 1 week VG, 1 week PG. Still got to squeeze in PS gown selection, buy pin jing, parents meet up for guo da li discussion, buy heels, find jie mei, ... There goes my December =(

I still need to find 1 more jie mei, dont know who to ask cause it's odd number now. Left AD PG to confirm now. Then have to think about honeymood plans. Also dont know what else i have missed out.

all: Any honeymood places to recommend? Never think of budget yet. Have you plan yours?

michelle: No problem. Glad that you solved the mystery haha.

I have just confirmed my PG. Going with 1950 photographer, Chuian Feng. Was thinking between Yong How and CF so met up with both of them. It is good to chat with the photographers directly.

One more thing down. What's next? Hmm.

Tomolo going down to My Bridal Room and Rico-A-Mona to further discuss the package and see the gowns then decide which one to sign up. Im actually thinking whether to pay by credit card to make use of the installment but if so, mean I will have to pay all in the same time. Scare after payment service sucks.

Anyone has comment on the 2 bridal boutiques?

levonne: I went down to Rico-a-mona, I think their gowns are simple but nice. The co-ordinator, Jessie is very friendly and helpful too. Tried about 4 gowns there. She handled my friend's wedding. Everything went well. It's 2nd on my list. The only thing i dont like is the PG. Went for short outdoor photoshoot on her AD with my fren, the style of the PG is not what i wanted. If you are getting them, I think AD PG still ok but pre-wedding should go for a better ones.

My bridal room has good reviews i think but I did not shortlist it so cant comment.

Remember to write out all the things you need and negotiate. Don't miss out stuff.
