work has been absolutely crazy for me as well!

I've gone for my first fitting actually
happy.gif
I was deciding between a Kua and CS but i've finally decided on a CS. I tried on a few Kuas but I didn't look good in any of them. I just went to Max Couture to get a CS done this afternoon

Hi everyone
I'm a 11th June 2011 bride too.

Going through a dilemma on whether to choose Marina Mandarin (Marina Sq) or Meritus Mandarin (Orchard..

And because my no. of tables is only at 16, the ballrooms introduced all have low ceiling.
My concern with Marina Mandarin is that its low ceiling and the march-in time could be short, because entrance to the stage is not far distanced. As for meritus, the concern is the tiered design, scared i will fall, because as u know, the gown is gigantic and covers ur leg. So...can you guys pls give me some advice???

purplebottle

pinkglove: yup, i think you should try the kua before deciding
happy.gif

The fitting went pretty well. Only the basic gowns are out so I can't really tell yet. I'm getting a short CS. I thought it'll be easier for the tea ceremony.

missy: wah, that's very soon! how come you're doing your PS so early? do you already have an idea what gowns you want?

cherish: i think i'll pick marina mandarin over meritus because i'll be worried about falling as well ;P

Hi everyone,

Am a BTB in June 2011 too.

AD is on 10 June, and confirmed our venue at The Fullerton. Now busy sourcing for our PG/VG as well, but it's hard to find a reasonably priced one with the skills that we like.

purplebottle: when will all ur gowns be ready? u doing ur PS in dec?

missy: trying out gowns is fun! I miss my trying on gowns days..hehe..

wendy: same AD as me! I would suggest that u visit each of these BS to take a look at their photography and try their gowns. My bestie's with whitelink and there're many top ups for various range of gowns which im not very comfortable with so u may wan to bear tat in mind when doing BS shopping =)

Lyn: what's your budget for ur PG/VG?

cherish: there's bound to be many pple if there's a mega show at suntec and there's nothing much we can do about it i think.. maybe can just advise ur guests to arrive earlier?

christy: i think 3months should be quite comfortable for the PG to churn out the photos
happy.gif
You can always check with the BS or PG to make sure they can do it.

Lyn: I emailed a number of PG+VG (chris ling, lightedpixels, avenue8, 39east, 36frames etc) before I decided and most of those I emailed were about 6-8K for pre-wedding, AD and AD VG.

jtsy: Have you checked out the blogs of those photographers? You might want to take a look to see which type of photography you prefer

We've looked thru the works of a number of PGs & VGs, and shortlisted 2 that offers PG & VG package at the moment. Bu we can't reach a decision as we like the PG of 1, and the VG of the other. If we were to take ala carte, it'll cost about 1k more than taking a package. =\

pinkglove

i agree with purplebottle.. it depends on what's more important to u... for us, VG makes a great difference, so we chose our VG first n we prefer our PG & VG to b frm e same company so as to work w great chemistry n it's also $ efficient..

Does the companies have a few PG / VG to choose from? paying $1k more to go ala carte is really a lot more exp ... what about taking a look at other vendors? my friend's with vocare for VG and their videos look touching too! she's having 1950 for her PG and they have a tie up with a bit of rebate when u get both of them..

We're actually more keen on PG, and thot of getting the package with the PG that we like. The only downside is the VG only covers for 5 hours, which his parents are not too keen.

How impt is VG for the banquet? Like is there really things for the VG to take during the banquet besides the march-ins?

w3ngal

I aso duno if vg is important but he will help us to capture the gate crashing moments where brides can't see from the room n aso the same day edit can be shown during banquet so I went ahead with idea of having a vg...Maybe juz equally impt as pg ba!

hi girls, i would like to ask those who's getting dresses for ur jiemeis.. will u get ur jm to wear e same dress for e dinner or a different dress, following maybe just along a series of colour u have stated?

pinkglove

New Member
My Sis too much?

Cos I'm customizing a day dress for them n it's in e specific colour I want but I'm not sure if it's common for them to wear e same dress at night.. E material is satin so i was thinking it suits dinner too.

purplebottle

New Member
pinkglove: i'm getting a dress (same colour but they can wear it in different ways) for them for the morning.

they may want to wear their own dresses in the evening? also, i'm not sure if they'd want to wear the same dress for the whole day

pinkglove (pinkglove) - sorry i din ready your post carefully. Paisay. Satin material will suit the dinner too but just not sure if they are ok to wear the same dress or prefer to wear something diff. Maybe can ask them for their view?

pinkglove

its ok missy =)

i asked them le.. half ok, half said prefer wear something else.. nvm, they can fight amongst themselves and come to a conclusion.haha..

pinkglove

New Member
purplebottle: yup, im gg to tailor make my jm's dresses cos i want it in a specific colour that's not easy to get otr..

I realised that this thread's quieter compared to the rest ;)

Anyway, i just went for my 2nd fitting but I still can't visualise how the final gown would turn out because they're still in the pretty raw stages!

pinkglove

New Member
purplebottle: how many more fittings are there till u see e final product? are u mtming both WG & EG?

im in e midst of thinking ideas for our own wedding logo.. =)

leyash

New Member
wow.. u gals are fast! i haven't even chosen the gown for photoshoot. lol.. how long does it take to MTM the WG or EG?

pinkglove

New Member
leyash: i started e design process for my mtm EG around 3-4 months prior my PS. I did some modifications n additions to my OTR WG at e same time too.. all in all i went down for around 6-7 sessions before both my gowns are ready...

purplebottle

New Member
pinkglove: there should be 2 more fittings before the final gowns are done. yup, i'm mtm-ing both the WG and EG. it's actually quite scary because i don't know how they will turn out eventually! you had 6-7 fittings? wow! how different were the gowns each time you go down?

what do you mean by wedding logo?

leyash: i started with the designs in sept. i'm getting the gowns ready by dec before i'm doing my PS end dec

Not 6-7 fittings but more of gg down 6-7 times all in all till e final product’s completed..

1st time - try out a diff types of cuts n colours of gowns for my consideration..

2nd time - show my designer my homework n ideas of e kinda gowns I like.
3rd - once we fixed the type of cut then I’ll tell him e colour I want n he’ll find me gowns in tat colour of different shades for me to try and also fabric of diff shades.
4th - 1st EG fitting, I could see e whole cut of e dress just without the embellishments n I was already very pleased,
5th - my 2nd fitting, I could see e whole gown w 80% embellishment.. and it was better than what i've expected.
6th – 7th sessions,EG ready and just make adjustments to make e gown fit like a glove..

How many sessions do u need to go down in all? Don't worry too much till e final product because though i made only some modifications to my WG, after my designer made e final touches to my WG, i was blown away, i think they can 'huang long dian jin'.. haha..

im going to do up a monogram of me and my fiance's initials to be placed at for e.g. e wedding invites etc..n i call it my wedding logo.haha..

purplebottle

ohh, let me recall how many times i went down.

1st - check out prices and gowns
2nd - tried on gowns and confirmed package
3rd - design stage
4th - confirmation of designs + choose materials
5th - 1st fitting
6th - 2nd fitting
7th - 3rd fitting
8th - final fitting before PS

my gowns are still not very fitting. I think I lost some weight from my first fitting so they're going to have to work on the gowns again. i think they should be able to do a good job since they enjoy quite a good reputation
happy.gif
*fingers crossed*

so cool! are you doing your own wedding invites as well?

pinkglove

New Member
i wish im losing weight but im gaining weight instead.. i tend to eat more when im stressed..lol..
ya, i think u r in good hands, don't worry so much about it.. but i can understand e uncertainty feeling because i was also abit worried n anxious before i saw e end product..

we're actually kinda similar in one area.. i also went down to e BS twice n signed on my 2nd trip down.. hehe..

actually im not e one doing but rather, im gathering e ideas and my bestie who's a graphic designer will be helping me with the logo and invites.. im thinking of printing a separate specially designed invite for friends and colleagues but have yet to check out e pricing yet..will print if i find e prices reasonable. r u thinking of having ur own invites or using the hotel's one?
