You're not going to solemnize at the "roof garden"?

I'm still going through the calendar with them... first half of the year weekends are more or less booked..

somehow, the date I want isn't that popular (it's a saturday!)

no, not at the 'roof garden'. my fiance doesn't like it. the wet weather plan will be just to do it at the Straits Room. if weather is great... it'll be somewhere nice :D

I hope you get your date soon!!

Hi

My name is Jarls from Singapore and I am an undergraduate at a Hospitality Management school in Switzerland. For my undergraduate dissertation, I am looking at the negotiation behaviour of prospective wedding couples looking to hold their wedding banquet at 5-star hotels in Singapore.

Your response is kindly appreciated and will aid in the completion of my paper.

This survey will take up 15-20 minutes of your time.

Thank you

Had my wedding at Straits Room on Sunday. Everything went great except for a few minor hiccups. Mixed reviews on food but overall quality was good. Service was top notch.

Will like to extend my thanks to my coordinator Pansy who tried her best to accommodate all my requests and last min changes to the guest tables.

wah congrats kriskris! glad to hear most things went well. could you share what are the few hiccups you encountered? did you have chinese food or something else?

and.. pictures? :D :D

kriskris

hi DL, sme of the hiccups are

1) a slight delay in the 1st dish presentation but thats due to a miscommunication between my appointed coordinator with the banquet mgr on the timing..cos timing for 1st march in over-ran..

2)timing for 2nd march-in was not timed properly..was adjusting my gown half way then door open..luckily we almost done..i think cos Straits Room has very good sound proofed walls..cannot hear the music inside the room clearly..i did engage a music band..

yea i had chinese food..pictures are with my frens..

overall, i am pleased with Fullerton and the Straits Room is simply gorgeous..i am really glad that i did not give up Straits Room for a bigger ballroom due to the limitation in tables..because i have held my wedding at venue which we truly love and with our close frens/family, i really do enjoy my wedding tho the process is very tiring!

Kriskris, congrats, so happy for you! Great wedding on a perfect date. Can I ask you when did you settle the final bill? Immediately after the event or?

kriskris

hi noir, the bill was brought up to the suite to use around 6pm. they will not be so insensitive to ask u settle right after the event!

Ahh, that's what I thought. My coordinator kept saying they always settle the bill straight after the event.

By the way, wanna ask if you had any problems with the cocktail event being on a different level from the straits room? any prob with late comers not being able to find the place, or ppl can't find the rooftop garden or ushering them down to the straits room?

Hi Christina, have you sat down with her to start discussing on the nitty gritty yet? I'm quite particular on e look of my wedding so I really hope Fullerton will be flexible on that part
Quite excited to start the process!

Hi daydreamerzz! Nope not yet, cos my AD is still quite some time away. So far she has been quite helpful cos i had to keep bombarding her with queries before i finally placed the deposit :p

Melody, you could try [email protected]. They replied me within a day on the packages.

Fullerton has always been one of my dream hotels for my wedding, but the reviews haven't been too good. Any recent experiences there? Would I still need to be kept on my toes in the wedding preps?

yyiling,
why don't you share with us what poor reviews you've been getting? in what aspect?

if you're worried, why not contact the hotel first and see how the interaction is like, etc?

yyiling

I was going through the thread and there were comments on slow response and late finalisations. But those were earlier in the year so I just wanted to see if there were more recent experiences.

Thanks for the advice

Have you had your wedding there yet?

Hi yyiling, i think most of the responses were back during the period where there was high turnover of coordinators. My fren recently emailed them and they responded within the same day.

So far my dealings with them have been very good

Having my wedding at Fullerton Dec 2011. My contact at Fullerton is Pansy Quek.

Guess she's patient coz i missed my 7pm appt on a Friday night (overslept till 7.30pm) she waited for us until approx 9pm and my MIL tortured her for another 1hr asking short and long questions.

Was shown all the suites at Fullerton before we decided on which suites.

I agree with Christina...there was a period where their coordinators suddenly MIA-ed because of resignations and BTBs had to deal with another coordinator who took over their weddings
That was why I was a little worried myself but there hasn't been any new horror stories recently so *crosses fingers*
Priscilia has been great on replying so far and when I start my discussions with her I'll be able to share more on my experience with everyone
Any brides who have had their wedding at Fullerton willing to share their reviews regarding the service staff? I find that quite important too cos I have met some banquet staff at weddings who r terrible
I went to my best friend's wedding at Amara Sanctuary n their staff are excellent...really attentive to your needs

Thanks for the reassurance! I contacted them and am currently liasing with Ignatius. Will the coordinators be assigned later on? Will I be able to request for a specific coordinator?

christina_grace

Hi Yyiling! So far Pricilla was the one who replied to my email query and i think she is my coordinator since we have been liaising with her for our banquet. For your case i think most likely it will be Ignatius to be your coordinator. I suppose you can still request to change ba?

Hi blissed! Straits room is a smaller room that can hold up to 12 tables. There's a main ballroom located below the lobby level.

hi need advice, what are the steps when you look for banquet venue? do you shortlist, email the hotel and go down for appointment? what do you ask in your email to them?

My problem is I do not know how their themes look like and I prefer no pillars and high ceilings. Any recommendations and advice?

christina_grace

Hi genalst, I just email the hotels to request for quote. They should attach pics of their themes if any. I also went down to shortlisted hotels to view their ballrooms or ask frens about their weddings
happy.gif
hope this helps! I know Hyatt one got pillar cos I went down

Hi all,

I'm a Fullerton Bride too, and my co-ordinator is Pansy. I do agree they're quite strict on the packages but it's a dream place for my htb and myself. I'm just a little worried about walking down the steps in my gown. But currently too occupied with prep for my ROM next month. ^^

kwenxin, honestly, my hub and I were quiet worried at first but we chose to ignore all -ve feedbacks since we wont get to eat the food.. Fullerton is a special place for the 2 of us and we chose it because it meant something for us. The food during the food tasting is good and the chef had been very friendly and helpful to all extend on changing our menu.

Seriously, with this kinda service from the hotel staffs, I'm really comfortable with the hotel..
happy.gif
And like what Christina Grace had mentioned, food is truely up to personal preference.. Even my picky dad says the food is fine to go ahead..

My wedding was held at the Straits Room of Fullerton Hotel, but food, like for the ballroom, is from Jade.

Food tasting session was good - food was delicious and hearty. On the way itself, we all expected the food to be not as good as the food tasting session, but it wasn't bad at all. Most of my guests enjoyed the food.
