The Fullerton Hotel Singapore

Hi Elene,
That's right. For Fullerton, minium is 35 for Friday and Sunday. But if you want lesser tables, it is possible still because all you need to do is to TOP up the type of quality of food you want to have for the dinner.

That's what Agnes told me if I want less tables. But for me, I took 38 tables, 2 for reserve.

Hi lifeisgood,
Yup.You either love or dislike the steps. My in-laws are quite pantang. They visited the ballroom when we went to Fullerton for foodtasting and they went up and down the steps.. they apparently counted the number of steps and told my fiance the number is inauspicious. Anywayz, they need not have worried in the first place cos we didn't want to return to Fullerton for AD after having engagement there just a year ago.

Shang is quite out of the way. Unless you have a car, you won't be keen to attend if you are not close the married couple. Personally, my fiance and I can't be bothered with inviting "hi and bye" friends to our wedding. We rather celebrate it with close friends and our parents' close friends. We believe they will make an effort to attend. For those without cars, they can take the free shuttle service between Orchard station. We woudln't want to charter a bus to shuttle our guests to and fro.. it makes it seem too touristy and I'm sure our guests would be willing to make arrangements to carpool or take a cab to Shang as they are close to us.

Hi Cactus,

I don't know what Ash's theme was. It was like a garden...

Actually, Fullerton is very generous with its budget for flowers. I'm comparing with Shang. Sad to say, Shang's floral arrangements are sub-average and several couples have considered upgrading the floral arrangements but per table is at least $100 for the upgrade.. very pricey.

If you like flowers, you can consider The Regent. It's a beautiful place with 4 different themes I think. It may be just right for your banquet size.

Thanks Cactus...

Hmm...Seems like Fullerton may be out for me. I did check on Regent. I dont meet their min requirements too. Think i should find out about Raffles.. What a headache!!

Raffles is beautiful. Their ballroom is nice. I think only drawback is the reception area is not aircon.. and it is a bit "open"... cos pple can just walk past your reception.. it doesn't feel very exclusive. if you get what I mean.

Actualy, if you dun mind Sentosa, you can consider Rasa Sentosa. The min I think is 25 tables for weekends.

Do check out Four Seasons' too. Their max is 32. Min could be 26.. not sure. I like Four SEasons' ballroom but my guestlist is at least 35 tables... that's the prob.

Oh.. Sheraton has 3 adjoining rooms. Partition. Called Topaz, something and Ruby. Do check with them if they can accomodate 22 to 28 tables?

If you dun mind a club, I personally love The Legends at Fort Canning. Their ballroom on the 2nd level is partitioned into 3 sections. Max cap is 50 tables. I think for 22 to 28, you can use either 1 or 2 sections.

These places serve good chinese food.
Raffles Hotel is better for its western menu than chinese menu.

Yep...i did check out on Four Seasons as well. I cant recall why am i not able to hold it there. Heard their coordinator's attitude is not so good too? Ehh..in the past, Rasa Sentosa was my choice. However, 10 out of 10 pple who went there for wedding dinner...says that the food is terrible. So...that is out.

Lifeisgood,

How much do you have to pay for your wedding planner? I'm afraid i will be too busy to get all the things done by myself..

cherimoya

Hmm.. I paid near to 3k. But then there are always cheaper ones around 1k+. Wedding planner can help you with tonnes of things man especially the Actual Day coordination which is very important.

Hi Elene - i really really think it's possible for you and your hubby to plan everything yourselves. it'll be so much fun too! =) i sure miss my wedding prep process so much. =(

Hi Elene, if I'm not studying, I'll also love to plan it myself, but then again although you have a wedding planner, still you have to go view the ballrooms and go down to the Bridal Studio together with the planner. So there's not much difference except you don't need to scare that the BS salesperson will pester you cos anything, they will contact the planner and not us. Haha..

Wedding preparations is definitely fun. But too bad, my Final Year project is more 'fun'...

Hi Ash / Lifeisgood,
Yup..i believe planning a wedding could be really fun too. Went to a few hotels yesterday to take a peep at their ballroom and get a copy of the package pricing. Went Raffles to have a look...its pretty nice! Four Seasons is very nice too! Having a headache now. Guess it will really depends on my negotiating skills now. I cant meet most of the hotel's min no. of tables..

Hi HL

I signed up during their wedding fair so only have the package in hardcopy. Anyway I paid abt $130/table for weekend dinner on a public holiday. They also gave me 14 bottles of complimentary wine for 8 tables booking.
Here's a pic of the room.. simply loved it! =)

hi Elene, I met up with Four Season's Georgette Ong on 2 occassions - I was deciding between their crescent ballroom and Fullerton's Straits Room for my engagement cos the capacity was just right. I found Georgette very very pleasant. .. but found Four Seasons too "rigid" with its perks. Mine was not a wedding but engagement dinner... so didn't need alot of things like floral pedestals (for the march-in), wedding cake, hotel night stay..etc, but four seasons couldn't give me much in exchange unlike fullerton so eventually went along with fullerton.

Hi bElSi, yup. I got a really really good deal cos the boss happened to be around. I think it's mostly because my wedding planner and FH's bro.

Hi ash, yup I mean the AD photography. Hmm.. ok. ;)

Elene, there are other nice hotels too. Why don't try Goodwoodpark? I think they have nice wedding settings.

Hi lilo_stitch, you got your AD date already? Congrats. When is it?

Who are the 'they' referring to? My wedding planner is from Wicked Plans. She's running it alone and her price is relatively high for a new startup. If you are interested, let me know your email.

I have another one to recommend if you have a small budget.

Hi happylife,

Do you mind sharing with me the package which Fullerton offered you? Did they give you anything additional? Which menu are you taking? Oh my...i am still deciding between Raffles and Fullerton for my wedding on the 6th May, and yet nothing is done!!!! Help.. =(

Hi all,

Can anyone share with me the list of things i have to settle before my wedding. I am really panicking now...so scared i can't get everything done on time!!

cherimoya

New Member
Hmm.. My package is negotiated by my wedding planner. But we didn't want quite a lot of stuff so managed to negotiate for more stuff. I guess it's also cos we are going to get chocolate fountain, car from them and my godbro may be signing a big event with them so that's why my wedding planner managed to get extra perks. They're a hard nut to crack when it comes to perks. I took the cheapest menu cos the other 2 menus are about the same and I see no point in paying so much for the almost similar menu cos we only like the ambience. Hee..

I think most importantly, you have settle your dates(GDL, AC and AD), venue and BS first. Then subsequently, will be your Gown Selection, PS, photos and also the theme of your wedding if any. The rest will be just waiting for the day to come. ;)

belsi

I'm taking the Palladian menu (2nd menu) coz the cheapest menu doesn't come with abalone... I don't think the menus are about the same.. The prices and the menus are a big diiference...

cherimoya

New Member
bElSi, the only difference is Abalone for the 2nd menu and we don't see the need in having it. Thus, FH and I are not so attracted to getting the other 2 menus. Our parents only said we must have prawns that's all. Hee..

hi,i am thinking of signing up with fullerton. would appreciate it if you could share any photos with me especially since i also want to hold my solemnisation there. is there any area besides the ballroom tat i can use? prefer to have it in a seperate area and having it before the actual dinner starts.
btw, noticed tat a number of people mentioned tat it is difficult to negotiate for more perks. i am looking at increasing the no for food tasting and the waiver of corkage. has anyone managed to do so? also any idea of wat the new wedding favours are? also wat are the themes available?
any info would be appreciated. my email is [email protected]. tks.

happylife, i see.. Your parents so good, must have prawns only... Our parents is must have abalone.. Anyway, different people have different requirements..

You getting the chocolate fountain and car from Fullerton? How much did you pay for that?

Can share your perks with me.. My email [email protected]

cherimoya

New Member
Hi stary, they are very stingy with perks cos they want to be fair to everyone. I think increasing the number for food tasting should be alright but waiver of corkage, that have to depends unless you're going to forgo some stuff else quite difficult. I'm not sure about wedding favours but I think it's the same usual stuff. If you go and view the ballroom, the coordinator will talk to you about the themes, favour, perks and stuff. Then you may negotiate for stuff you need.

Hi bElSi, I'm getting chocolate fountain and car from Fullerton. It's the normal usual price. ;)

hi, ash. got your email. your pics are lovely!! love your table decor. you mentioned tat you got the Fullerton florist to do it right? was there any top up involved?

bellybuttony

hi stary, yup..all floral decor and pieces were provided by Fullerton's contracted florist - Woodsville Florist. i did not have to top up for anything. din even hafta top up for the deep red apples which I requested for. The flowers they gave were really generous. =)

Hi all,

Just to share my parents' experience with Fullerton here. They had attended two wedding banquets at Jade before, each time the food portion was so little that they had to buy supper on the way home. They felt that both the quality and quantity of food were definitely not worth the price of each table.

Therefore when I was searching for my banquet venue, they specifically told me not to choose Fullerton, because while the building and deco are grand, the guests are there to EAT ultimately, they are not there to appreciate the surrounding or ambience. So if we really have the heart to invite guests to share our joy, the food must be tasty and filling, and if possible, the location should be convenient for the guests too.

We found their advice very sensible, and picked a 5 star hotel at Orchard Road eventually, where the price of each table was lesser than that at Fullerton, but the food much more delicious and plentiful (many guests told us they enjoyed the food tremendously), and the location convenient (with 2 MRT stations nearby). Hence we were really glad we took heed of my parents' advice. Anyhow, just my two cents' worth of thought.

Hi, I had my engagement dinner at Fullerton in April this year. My guests had good feedback for the quality and quantity of the food. My parents and in-laws were very particular during the food-tasting session. not sure if that resulted in better service and quality that evening for us. I didn't regret choosing Fullerton.
