Silhouette the Atelier

vicky, i chose lettherebelight photo studio in my package with silhouette.
i am utterly satisfied with their service thus far.
can't be any happier!

I'm finally done with my pre-wedding photoshoots with 9 Frames... so i'm going to give some feedbacks on 9 Frames, Silhoette and Gin Tan my makeup artist..
Let's start with Silhouette..
1) If you guys look back the history, you will notice that I have written some unhappiness happenning with Silhouette.. But that experience was quickly sorted out and a new EG dress design was made again... I must say I'm pleased with both dresses they have made and the dedication after that.. It is made so beautiful to my eyes and in my eyes!! I must really applaud the Designer and Auntie Theresa for all their efforts as both dresses have a lot of blings and the WG has a lot of layers to be sewn on... Hard on them.. Really!! A big thank you to the fantastic duo!!

2) Gilbert Chua - We chose him because his pre-wedding shots are really cool... It reflects the natural side of the couple and he is really able to bring out the best natural state of the couple instead of those fake cheesy look... The only issue we had was that we do not really know what we want as we as a couple, we seldom go out to places in singapore... It was really hard to think of places and especially when we do not have a car.. that was when conflict happened during the discussion... It was a mild one actually.. Gilbert is kind of a straight forward person.. He does not hesitate to hide his comments and if need be, he will be tactful and give his subtle hints to us.. I still remembered he sending sms to me advising me not to change anymore as we are loosing our sense of direction... I finally gave up and told him how cornered i felt by budget, HTB, timing and logistic arrangement.. Guess what, I didn't know Gilbert has his soft and funny side... He called me to console me and gave me his idea and what he believed was what I want.. And true enough everything he said was what I want for my photoshoot!! He is sensitive but he also respect the space that's supposed to be meant for the couple.. Unless one of them is non-chalant then he will step in to help.. So guys, if you engaged Gilbert from 9 Frames, 4 hours is NOT ENOUGH to shoot good photos.. Gilbert is game for anything as long as it makes the couple's day!! Must have car too

3) Gin Tan - We heard a lot about Gin Tan in this thread right? Gin is really a down to earth person.. A nice sweet lady and patient one too... I made her go to Singapore Polytechnic to do my make up and I was late on that day but she didn't mind at all... I asked her about Ampoule solutions and she told me she doesn't sell it and does not believe in pushing customers to buy even if she has it.. As each skin uses different ampuoles in fact so she doesn't want to apply the wrong ampoules to different people.. She is not out there to cheat her clients' money.. After some chatting with Gin, I get to know a bit of her history... Gin taught in a make-up school before.. Her students are Bridal Make-Up Artists wannabe in fact... Now she's a freelannce professional makeup artisit and a honest one.. Oh yes, she teaches Personal Makeup class too!! After the first trial, I went home to surf the net and came out with some pictures and show it to her in her facebook....
Would suggest that you find out what you want to look like and show it to her so that she can understand you and create your ideal hairstyle.. If not, there will sure to have miscom and that's when you may find that this does not suits you or etc... Gin is open to feedback.. I'm so glad to have Gin for my MUA... I really feel so comfortable with her.. Thank you Gin!! I really like the pre-wed look that you have improvise for me...

My friend recommended Silhouette to me due to its good service. I decided to take a look because my wedding is coming soon (mid of 2011). I was wow-ed by the gown collection. I really like the tulle gown. There is details but not overwhelming. I felt like a princess.

The price is on the steep side though. I got the OTR package price (without flowers and photoshoot) and ala carte rental of OTR wedding gown (my interest lies in wedding gown only. The ala carte rental itself is almost 3k *sigh*

hi choco_ice!
im interested to get ala carte OTR rental wedding gown from Silhouette as well.
you were saying they quote u near to 3k? is that for the Tulle Princess Gown?

how much for the OTR package? what is it inclusive of, if i may ask?

sorry for asking so much question

Hi all, for those who are interested in their package i suggest that it is better for u to make an appointment with them or give them a call to enquire. This thread is more of a discussion thread than a thread to get a quotation for their package. Thanks.
FYI. Silhouette, Stamford branch has shifted to Amoy Street.

cocotintin: I totally agree with u =) I also don't think there'll be anybody who will be so free to constantly email everyone who has asked for the package and actually silhouette doesn't really send soft copies of the package to us. It's written n given to us when we visit them. So it's really much easier to drop down, take a look at their gowns and find out more about the packages because they can customize according to what you need cos they are very nice people =)

Anyway, coco, how's everything? is ur gown all done up?

pinkglove: Yeah, everythings great. I went for my 2nd fitting last Sat and i'm starting to fall in love in my gown. I will be doing my PS locally after cny. Will meet up with my PG tomorrow to discuss on the location and finalise the date etc. Once i finalise the date then I'll have to inform Kenji and he will then advise when I can collect my gown.

So is the gown kept by u now or r u leaving it at Silhouette till your AD gets nearer? Did you trim the length of your train or u keep it long for your AD?

coco: that sounds great =) U must be excited about ur PS! r u using sil's tied up florist? i'm thinking if i should engage them.

The gown's at SIL..it's too big to be kept in my place! haha.. I don't know if the length will be trimmed, haven't thought about it yet but if there's no tear, i'll keep the train, I love long train =)

pinkglove: No i'm not using sil's florist. Any idea who is their florist? I remember you told me that u had a tear on your train after your PS right? how did kenji mend it for u? or u had to cut off some length as a result of it?

I'm going for my PS after cny and i will be going to some grassy area, so worried that i will end up tearing the train and getting the grass stuck onto it.

coco: i can't really remb who their florist is as well..hehe.. i've no idea how kenji mended my gown & if it needs to be cut in e end.. i basically just left my dirty gown with him after my PS..haha.. i'll probably check out my gown 2 months b4 my AD..

for my PS, i even went to some rocky areas by e lake and ya, there'r some grass n dirt n some i hope that it's not oil stains stuck to e train of e gown. i just presume it can be cleaned.. haha..

pinkglove & cocotintin: dun worry abt the gown..i'm sure it will be in great shape for your AD. I had min 20 fishing hooks caught in my wedding gown and I tore the gown too....the gown looks great on my AD. Just remember to highlight to them where the "damages" are, so that they can mend it accordingly. I used 86creations for the flowers as recommended.

hello coco,

need to check with u - u are MTMing your own WG top? how's that coming along? Any extra charges?

Fell in love with the tulle bottom of the gown at the shop.. but would like something different for the top >.<

Thanks dear!
sarah

oh ya,
by the way, did anyone take up a EG with them? I've taken a package that includes WG and EG and am thinking of MTMing a EG cox I prefer a quirky fashionista kind of EG.. but I'm pretty worried about the quality as someone (i think it was phylline?) mentioned that Sil's EG workmanship might not be very good >.<

help! need advice haha >.<
TIA~
sarah

Pearl: Thanks for your reassurance. I will try to be as careful as possible. haha..

Sarah: Yes I MTM my WG top. So far so gd. I had my 2nd fitting 2 weeks ago and Kenji had already did the beading for me though not fully done up but gd enough. I find the cutting of their MTM pretty good at least i feel slim in it. :p

I top up an additional 200 (if i dont rem wrongly ) to mtm the top and i think its pretty worth it.

I did not take up their package as i did not need make up and flowers so I'm on ala carte. But i have seen their EG on magazines, bridal shows and a quick glance when i was at their shop and i think their EG looks great. I think pinkglove had her EG MTM, maybe she can give u better advices.

By the way, who is your designer?

sarah: I thought the evening gowns are all MTM? anyway, my 2 evening gowns turned up well. now I am thinking what to do with the gowns...

coco: you're welcome....just enjoy your PS and AD!
