Hi Ladies

Do you mind the pillars in the grand ballroom? If there are 30-35 tables, would there be a big empty space at the back?

Hi

My name is Jarls from Singapore and I am an undergraduate at a Hospitality Management school in Switzerland. For my undergraduate dissertation, I am looking at the negotiation behaviour of prospective wedding couples looking to hold their wedding banquet at 5-star hotels in Singapore.

Your response is kindly appreciated and will aid in the completion of my paper.

This survey will take up 15-20 minutes of your time.

xiaomau: Why you regret? Care to share more details?

My Ad is coming up soon and yeah their food tasting is not fantastic.. The dish choices are very typical and not unique (unlike some other hotels have sushi or fancy dishes). But I love the place so much! It has its own style..

Who is your current coordinator? Can call them and request for someone else.

For wedding themes I have seen them before, and all very nice! I think they have one of the best themes around. I think you can feedback to them, your wedding is the end of this month and no one has contacted you? Wow...

eunice called me on fri to clarify on our miscommunications... i guess it was probably too much emails flying ard that some were missed... we met today to discuss on eveything else including the food...

they did take some trouble to try to sort out things and everything else.. and i guess.. she seems really sincere... probably its just miscomm..

its just the food now.. hopefully...everything goes on well.. and well..

good luck to everyone's wedding prep~~

Mine's 2011 but i'm already drooling over the menu.

Is your menu fixed or can choose like 1 out of 4? We saw that there's this shark fin alternative, Braised bird nest soup, very curious how it will turn out.

Did they offer to increase the food portion since it's too little for 10 pax?

Well I did tell my co-ord, will be reviewing again on my AD.. During food tasting the portion is really not enough. When we finished, I was barely full, like only 3/4?

Ahh there is 3 options for each dish, up to you to choose which ones you like. Certain soup is watery kind and others like shark's fin is thick. My lobster soup is like halfway. =x Do choose steamed items as they will use fresher ingredients!

Oooh urs is 1st half or 2nd half of 2011?

sokeai

New Member
Wah 3/4 full is sounds bad. Cross finger they can increase the portion if not AD wouldn't look good.

Irc, only the fish category is steamed. Will bear that in mind hehe. Overall, is everything to expectation?

Mine is 2nd half of 2011 onwards, can't wait haha!

wlove

Oh prawns also got steamed or fried option..

Yup fingers crossed! It's quite expensive and if the portion is small, all of us don't look good..

So far so good.. will update again after my AD. Haha! U can start research and buy stuff already.

For eg Regent does not allow fresh flower petals to be thrown. So I bought fake ones already..

Yes do feedback to them if anything is not nice during food tasting..

I am also having 11 seaters for some of the tables. Sometimes it cannot be avoided..

hi sokeai! I just had my food tasting dinner and there was more than enough food. I changed the shark's fin soup to the bird's nest version - it was good. Our respective families found it an acceptable alternative to shark's fin.

sweetlove: no fresh flower petals? kinna weird to throw fake ones eh o_O

Serene Y: Does it feels weird? I always relate bird nest to dessert than savory soup. Once boiled like very easily melt then cannot see bird nest anymore?

yah, no fresh flowers petals coz it'll stained the carpets...

I tried the Birds' nest soup during the last wedding show, find the stock too rich!

hi sokeai, just a little, at first, but then I got over it.. it tasted good, and I think it would be something different that your guests may find refreshing.
(I really don't want to serve shark's fin)

I forgot to add that there was bird's nest added on top of the soup (at the food-tasting dinner)so our families at the table saw it before it was dished out into individual bowls.

Herman Guoh:
Always thought that fresh petals can be thrown >.<

Herman Guoh, noboru:
Hmm stock too rich, is it good or bad? Ah i see, they do it separately for it.

i just coordinated my fren's wedding at regent during the weekends... the banquet manager was very gd, a detailed n helpful person n helped us a great deal... his name is palini, really patient n well organised person, can be considered the best help of the wonderful wedding.. nothing could be better than a great help like him on actual day.. despite other restrictions given from the banquet sales person, palini helped to waive charges for my fren to cut the wedding cake for distribution to the guests, reason being tat he feels its not nice to hv us cutting the cake ourselves cos we dun wan to pay extra.. but when it was agreed with the sales side, they were unwilling to waive the charges as the cake cutting n distribution were extra service to us... fyi, the couple was supposed to pay additional $10 per table for the cake, which is ridiculous i think..

HI ALL..

just a little review on my wedding just over (i just realise my buddy has given her thoughts on the wedding already)

I have received plenty of compliments on the ballroom- i chose the elegance theme and everyone commented on how nice it is. i personally have to agree it looks really good n grand enuf for my wedding at least.

the food- my previous review was that its bad...but i have received compliments on the food.. and most of the table i heard- the food was individually served... which i think is great... my mum's coll attended a wedding at st regis and they mentioned the food is bad.. but i hear no complaints for my food..

the screen or is it the projector... according to my pg- he said its good.. its clear and (i had the live feed) the pictures looked good unlike those old old quality..

the service- i really have to say palini n his team is good. my buddy was mentioning to me.. they do not only ask which song to play for the march in- they ask to which moment do they need to open the door...so i guess... its quite cool abt that- i mean.. if they dun ask n nobody rems.. then... i guess by the time we reach the stay also haven hear the lyrics..

eunice wasnt able to waive the cake cutting fee for us i guess.. prob due to work being done out of her scope.. so.. she might not be able to do it... but.. palini waived, and not only that- i was impressed that- he told my coordinator, told eunice in which she told me, palini told me again.. and mentioned he will speak with my mum directly since its her who baked the cake- and indeed he did.. without troubling all of us to pass msg n stuff.. he went straight to her.. and everything is perfect ~

my very difficult to pleased mum said their service is indeed really good.. n, i guess.. everythings great for us...

im not sure if this review will help anyone.. but.. yea.. good luck everyone

sweetlove, basically i was not at my seat 80% of the dinner but my hubby said the fish was big enough for a good portion for everyone... the soup portion was like addn 2 servings after serving all... the drinks were prompt, u know some banquets take their own sweet time to refill ur drink... i think u can request for more portions if u think ur guests are particular on tat... or specific table or something, i believe they will help...

yes my dear bestie xiaomau, i wouldnt spend the trouble to come back to this forum to post tat if he were not good... u know me, i dun even hv time for facebook, let alone coming to the forum in the wee hours... =)

Hi everyone!

My wedding is done at Regent Royal Pavilion ballroom 2 weeks ago.. It went very well! Many thanks to my banquet manager Issac and his team! Also to Eunice - my co-ord!

I choose the L'Amour theme for my wedding - it was fab! The pink + black theme is very striking and romantic at the same time.

They have a fantastic sound + lighting system.. During my 1st Dish presentation it was quite long with different mix of songs, which is pretty impressive! I brought in my CD, chose the song "Nobody" by Wondergirls.. Its a fantastic song to use with their lighting! Haha. (Anyone wants to buy my CD too? :p)

Food is good, everyone mention to me the food portion is big and yummy. Previously my food tasting - the food was average and portion very small. I had to keep re-emphasizing to them as it is very important - my parents keep nagging how bad it would look on us if food is not enough for our guests. The Ee-Fu noodles esp is fantastic, do choose that! YUMMY..

For march-in etc, Issac was very nice, they chose a suitable time to walk in depending on the song we choose. So we do not have to worry about at which portion of the song do we march in. GOOD!

There is also live feed of the champagne pouring on the projector screen! I happened to see when I saw the photos my friend took. LOL. The projector is really clear.

The suite is nicely done, folded swans with rose petals on the bed & with a bottle of champagne, strawberries coated with chocolate and complimentary cake for us. Plus the $60 in-room dining voucher! Feels very pampered yeah! Good job on that Regent!

Overall my wedding went really well, thanks again to Issac and his team, very professional and friendly! Couples do consider this venue for your wedding celebrations~~

Hi Sweetlove, can i have Eunice email address please? Or any co-ord to recommend?
I sent a proposal request via their site and Larriana replied me asking how many pax i am looking at, which in the proposal request already stated my requirements, i replied to her 3 times and it's been 2 weeks since i last hear from you.

Oh sometimes they take quite long to reply one. Haiz. Eunice is no longer doing weddings, she will be focusing on corporate clients.. The new co-ordinator's name is Ms Natalie Cheah. Call them up better, if not they might miss your email.

Their response timing is very slow, hope they will review and improve..

Hi Sweetlove,

Im a regent BTB.. sign my package a few mths back
happy.gif
Abit clueless so wana found out more info.
i saw that u bought fake petals for your march-in.
Im wondering if regent provides any like bubble machine/ or confetti during march-in?
Or we need to settle this ourselves cos most hotels i went got either dry ice effect or the bubbles..

wlove

New Member
Hi metro,

Regent does not provide any confetti, in fact they do not allow you to bring in your own (like poppers, sparklers etc). In case it causes damage to their premises /the carpet catches fire. The only thing they allow if fake rose petals and u have to bring in your own. U need the contact to buy?
happy.gif

They do have dry ice effect for march in, and when u pop champagne they have the bubble effect from the stage. So u get both effects lah. Haha. But IMO bubbles is not so good, it flies around and it get stuck on the plates/glasses! In fact I saw a few "popped" on the champagne glass fountain.. But it looks nice lah.. haha!!

When is ur AD? Muz be so excited!! hehe..

Hi metro! Oh nice.. my friend actually interested in that bridal studio too.. do you mind emailing me your package details? :p My email is [email protected] . Appreciate it loads!

Btw if you buy from that webbie, 5 packs is enough to just throw during march in. But if time can go back, I will buy another 5 packs! LOL.. She packs it very nicely, 100pcs is one very small pack only. Also, 5 packs I dun think it is enough if you want to line along both sides of the aisle..

Any BTBs once caught between Regent and Sheraton? I went to Regent and I loved the lobby area and what they proposed to set aside for the reception. But HTB likes Sheraton

For 40 tables, is it possible to arrange such that none of the tables are blocked by the pillars? Has anyone negotiated an extra night's stay when using the ballroom?

wlove

New Member
Hi yiling,

Sorry I can't help much with the comparison, my first wedding show was to Regent's and I booked with them when I went for the second one. Haha! Yeah the lobby is very exclusive..

Mine was 26 + 2 tables, I think they can avoid the pillar if not too many tables. The Royal Pavilion ballroom is quite big! Yes I did get an additional night stay

Thanks sweetlove! Did you have to give up the one night stay for helpers for your additional night? Just curious, how much wine was consumed during your AD night? Is it necessary to ask for more wine/beer in the package?

Do they give out a lot of perks during the wedding shows? I'm thinking whether to confirm my booking before they raise prices next year, or take more time to shop around and sign during their wedding shows, though I may risk the date being taken up.

Sorry for asking so many qns!

Hi Yiling,

No problem!

For the one night stay for helpers, I did not take that as its not necessary. They have the list for you to choose your perks right. So I choose the 1 btl wine per table, free flow beer, 2pc band and 1 night anniversary stay at executive suite.

The additional 1 night is given by my co-ord. Perhaps you can try ask your co-ord if she can add on for you so you do not need to choose it as part of your perks, waste 1 item.

Wine I only used additional 5 bottles! Haha. Dun need so kua zhang. I bought 30 bottles! Depending on how many tables you have u can estimate.
happy.gif

Btw do not need to take the in-room dining perk, they still give you $60 credit. :p

Yeah better to book during wedding show I guess, they are more willing to give perks.. U can try emailing them rgd the availability of your date first and see how from there.
happy.gif
Not sure when is their next wedding show though..

Which month are u looking at, btw?

yyiling

New Member
Thanks! There's no choice list for perks now, only a 1 barrel of beer, 1 btl wine per table, helper's stay and printed invites. Hoping to ask for one extra night's stay and perhaps a few more bottles of wine.

Thanks for the reassurance on the wine.
happy.gif
Have heard how the wine bill can really add up for some weddings.

I'm looking at Sept 2012.
