photo selecting-need advice!! thanks

Hi,
Can anyone please advise how to select limited photoshoots? I didnt bargin much when i get my wedding package and I only have 25 poses to select. Just finish my indoor and outdoor shooting last week.... then realised we took alot, wonder how we can just choose 25 out of so many pics that we took. We dun want to pay more... pls help

As my hubby and i wanted to exercise self-control on budgeting, we limited ourselves to the no. of poses given. So how we balanced out is this:-
We were given 32 poses. Total 5 different styles (1 outdoor PS at 4 different locations)

So in total, we will have 8 different look [4 indoor styles + (1 outdoor style x 4 locations)]
32 divided by 8 looks = 4 poses each.

So during selection, we look at 1st style eg. traditional costumes, chose only 4 out of the many taken. Repeat the same for the rest. If one of the styles u didnt like as much, eg Japanese costume, u reduce to 2 and add two to those styles u like.

cheerful (leo_yk) > I just done my photo selection last sat (didnt top up any). I did something like missysee mentioned but we didnt really follow exactly.

We hav 30poses,11pages (22 sheet). ie 6poses per outfits. However,we prefer outdoor pictures, so we allocate 10poses for outdoor, other 4costumes share 20poses. But when we 'execute' this, the consultant stop us, she said different series pic tell different story, we cannot series A (more romantic feel) choose 1, series B (more magazine style) choose 1, series C (act cute) choose 1, and placed together although the backgound & gowns are same, bcos in the layout, it wil be across 1 page (2 sheets) then you wil find a bit weird/funny. Sometimes portrait/landscape also play a part. End up some of my outfits only have 3 pic selected. Besides number of poses, we also need to take care of number of pages.

But not to worry la, as long as you stand firm, you will sure make it within the limit. I am waiting for my layout in Aug.

cheerful (leo_yk) >> I signed during the wedding fair. They said basic is ard 22poses then they give me 26. If I confirmed on tat day, they give me 30poses. Actually I didnt nego at all. Maybe bcos they seem us not really impressive with their package/offer so they start throw in freebies/free poses.

Actually dont be sad, most of my colleagues told me dont top up too much, as end up the album will be kept inside store room only. Choose nice photos for table top, 'Chuang Tou Zhao', etc is more impt as you will see them daily in future.

me also going to choose my photon this coming sat. I heard they need at least 40photos in order to do layout for album. I oni got 24 photo for my package. thinking how now... Don top up to 40photos mean our album will not have design layout? is that so?

Elaine> how many pages are they offer? Mine is 30 poses for 22pages. I think std is 22-25poses only for 20pages. I hav other friend didnt top up as well. BS will prepared layout for u before they sent for printing so if you really find tat too empty/dont have design layout, you may do amend/top up some later on.

Mine was 26 pages with 35 poses. Total there were 13 layouts. Usually you can put 2 to 4 poses in 2 pages (1 full digital layout).When you open up a book, there are 2 pages facing you with a fold in between. This will happen to the full layout as well.

Eg of 1 digital layout split into 2 pages (3 pose). There will be a fold in between.

You might wish to check whether your package includes layout design or just 1 photo 1 page with no layout?

When it comes to photo selection and you are doing digital layout, you can try to choose photo of similar background so as to blend in smoothly. For me, I choose 2 to 3 photos for each background or 2 to 3 photos of same outfit. Easier to do layout. hehe...
