Dear Lynnie,
When is your wedding? Did you sign up at the wedding fair and have free flow of beer? I heard free flow of beer only given when you sign up at the wedding fair. What is video montage? Is it inclusive in the package? My coordinator didn't mention. He just mention that if we need a projector, they can arrange it to be rent at our cost. Could you advise on the package you have because don't really know how to go about negotiating and I am meeting them early next week.
Are you having it on a weekday or weekend? Do you think a 8 course dinner would be sufficient as don't really know how big is the portion? Which ballroom are you taking?

I do not know how to fully explain video montage to you. But it is just a series of photos that you compile yourself and show it on projector screen to your guests. Actually other hotels do give free flow of beer on weekends, if not it is often negotiable. Somehow I feel that orchard Hotel is quite stingy in their perks cos when I compare to other hotels, they definitely give better perks like extra bottle of champange in the bridal suite, supper, 2 nights stay at the bridal suite, ang bao box ...etc. Somehow, I feel that it is not easy to negotiate things with them.
But I have to commend their ballroom. It's the nicest I have seen so far. It has very high ceiling and they recently changed their wedding decoration theme. Sweet, you should visit them on a night where there's a wedding, you'll know what I mean.

Choose them becos' if you use Citibank Card, can have discount, so at least helps to save a bit. The savings can be used to cover the beer if I require an additional barrel. Compare other hotels, the price for a weekend quite reasonable.
Will be settling for them and moreover, they have the date that we are looking for. As it's quite late to book now and on a weekend, most hotels' weekend fully booked.

As for negotiations, it depends on who is your coordinator, for mine is very easy to talk to. But she had resigned not long ago, fortunately I asked her to write down all the things we confirmed in black and white.

After you view the ballroom, the coordinator will normally call you maybe a week later telling you that somebody else has requested the ballroom and hope that you will confirmed with them immediately. You could try calling them few weeks later after you rejected the coordinator and you will realise that they are not telling the truth. At least 3 hotels had done that to me. Maybe you could try those hotels again.

But personally, I find the place a bit run down, plus the ballroom they offered me has 4 big pillars which really put me off. If I remember correctly, a few others were willing to concede if you sign up more tables with them.
Have you come across anyone who stop serving beer after the one barrel is finished? The thought ever crossed my mind
I'm told that I have to pay a deposit of $3K. Find that a bit too high. Lynnie, did you pay that much too?
Lynnie do share with us about the food after your food tasting. I do have some faith in the food cos like I mentioned before, I had heard some good comments about Hua Ting Restaurant.

But anyone who has seen the place should agree with me that the interior decoration is comparable to a 5-star hotel, infact better than some of the older ones.

I've booked Orchard Hotel for my dinner which will be held in Dec on a weekday. I think the perks my coordinator gave me are considered quite substantial (or maybe because I have ard 40 tables & it's on a weekday).
I would say the after looking ard at some venues, Orchard Hotel is the most attractive in terms of pricing, ballroom + perks. Although I have to agree that the name doesn't create much of an impression : )

I am sorry to inform you that I made a mistake. You are right that the hotel does not provide the projector for video montage. They can only provide the screen. I too have to rent the projector like you.

After attending quite a few wedding dinners recently, I noticed that the trend is serving wine now, especially red wine. Therefore, I am not very keen on free flow of beer instead I negotiated for cockage waiver.
I paid a deposit of $3k too, no negotiation.
As quite a few of my bosses are staying around Orchard Hotel area and most of my friends seems to know about the hotel, I think I do not have a problem with that.
Will keep you gals posted of my food tasting outcome!

I din manage to get free flow, but my coordinator gave me 2 free barrels of beer (30l) + 1 free barrel (20l).
Also i managed to bargain for waiver of corkage charges for the first 50 bottles of wine, although subsequent bottles will be charged at $17+++. So have to make sure that we don't exceed those 50 bottles.

You are much better than me, at least your coordinator called to inform you that he/she is leaving. For me, it is the new coordinator who called and advise me that there is a change!
But do not worry overmuch, because I believe everything should be written in black and white, therefore it should not be a problem.

One advice. If ur coordinator still with the hotel, try to negotiate as much deals with him/her as possible. Especially if you can click with him/her
Cos the new person may not be able to give that much. But once if everything is written down black and white in contract, the new person cant say no.

For me, sign! I suppose to meet up with them on last saturday, but San San (suppose to be my co-ordinator) call me and told me that the don't work on sat, so if i want to meet up with them,only from monday to friday.
And she told me later that she's not my co-odinator and will check who will be. then a lady call catherine called but the line cut off and i left a message but they did not call me back again. So untill now i don even know who's mu co-ordinator.

Dear All,
I guess that KLB is very sore about something with regards to his wedding. KLB, please call me at 67396584 if you need any further help.
At the Orchard Hotel, we have just gotten a new Executive Chef, Chef Eric Teo who leads the National Team for cooking competition overseas. Also, our Banquet Operations Director, Mr Simon Ong was transferred from Grand Copthorne Waterfront only recently. Thus, with this additions to the team, I believe that we are able to provide the services that matches the hotels that KLB had mentioned.
At no time have we provided false advertising to our guest and wedding favours are part of the package as long as those chosen are within ourlist of 6-8 types shown. As for free flow of beer, I would like to aplogise to one and all that these is not one of our practices. However, if you can give us more tables than the minimum for the room, we will provide you with additional barrels if the savings from the extra tables covers the cost of the beer.
I feel that KLB has mentioned that he is doubtful that I can provide good service. I think he may owe me an apology for that statement as I had joined about 5 months ago and was not the person handling his event. Many of my ex guest from Inter-Con has become close friends with me due to the level of service I have provided them. Also, as a pionner at Inter-Con, I was one of the few that had assisted in building the levels of service till it is when I left the hotel.

At the Orchard Hotel, we have just gotten a new Executive Chef, Chef Eric Teo who leads the National Team for cooking competition overseas. Also, our Banquet Operations Director, Mr Simon Ong was transferred from Grand Copthorne Waterfront only recently. Thus, with this additions to the team, I believe that we are able to provide the services that matches the hotels that KLB had mentioned.
At no time have we provided false advertising to our guest and wedding favours are part of the package as long as those chosen are within ourlist of 6-8 types shown. As for free flow of beer, I would like to aplogise to one and all that these is not one of our practices. However, if you can give us more tables than the minimum for the room, we will provide you with additional barrels if the savings from the extra tables covers the cost of the beer.
I feel that KLB has mentioned that he is doubtful that I can provide good service. I think he may owe me an apology for that statement as I had joined about 5 months ago and was not the person handling his event. Many of my ex guest from Inter-Con has become close friends with me due to the level of service I have provided them. Also, as a pionner at Inter-Con, I was one of the few that had assisted in building the levels of service till it is when I left the hotel.

I had my wedding at the Orchar Hotel on 22 Mar. It was an afternoon tea reception and I was served by Ernie.
Personally, I enjoyed working with him and I get very prompt response from him all the time. Furthermoew, he is quite accomodating to my needs, although he can get quite firm on certain grounds. I guess, at the end it is up to the couple to measure pros and cons.
On the actual day, I din have to worry about anything and Ernie and his coordinator did a wonderful job. Many of guests complimented the food and deco. Din hear of any lousy service.
Both Hubby and I feel that Ernie has been very professional and that was the very reason why we signed pon with them even though we could have chosen their sister hotels.

I believe Ernie will do his best.Like what Ding Dong has mentioned, he is very prompt in his response and will tried his best to be accomodating to the requests if he can help. I totally agree as I have dealt with him for my coming wedding banquet and it has been a pleaseure.

Hi, may I know what discount is given when we use our Citibank cards at Orchard Hotel?

From my checking with the hotel for my forthcoming wedding, they have promotion
which they have extended which offers the
following:
a)S$18 waiver per table
b)For every 10 tables gtd, the 11th table foc
c)1 extra night's stay in the superior room
for helpers
This means quite a big savings for the wedding dinner. Based on my understanding, they have extended the promotion till end June 2003 in order to help the couples. It was called M&C something. Wonder if it is the same MCL mentioned.
Will definitely book my wedding there due to the cost.
