My Dream Wedding

Hi Audrey! Yes I'm really excited to go for my photoshoot which will be end Feb. With all the good reviews of MDW, I can't wait to get my hands on my album!
happy.gif

Hey can I ask you... for the PhotoStory software, is it easy enough to transfer to a media that will allow you to screen the presentation at the hotel? How will you do it? ie. transfer onto a CD and play the CD at the dinner? Or bring your laptop and hook up directly to the screen? Or what? Is it free? Because I think some software are free to download and use until the point you want to screen it and then you have to pay something. Appreciate your advice on this. Thanks!!

Hi gals,

well dun go during April to HK if u want to save $ on hotels. I've already booked for April as i wanted cooler weather for photoshoot but the pxs r exhorbitant even for 3 star hotels. I've booked Royal Plaza as it seems to be the most reasonable one. Its peak season then in HK.

Silin: I think wat Audrey means is the cost of the shoe (damage = $ spent) is $89.90.

hey ladies, usually when the montage is playing, there's often a short video of the gate crashing. Do you know if I have to engage a VG or a PG will do?

I have checked few PGs and it's kind of expensive.

Any recommendations?

Thanks.

pinkpt: april is super peak cos all exhibitions will be in april in HK. That y rms r very expensive.

How much r u paying for Royal Plaza per nite?

Yep Trina, i overlooked that part or else i would have put the photoshoot in early May. However, i had already booked the air tickets. (Managed to get SQ for $380 per pax). Anyway it also depends on the period in April u stay. The px per night for Royal Plaza is from HKD 900 to HKD 1,400 as it differs on the days that i've chosen.

Btw, can i ask if anyone who went for the photoshoot did not take up the sample books?

Silin: Hehe, i mean damage to my wallet is $89.90.
Wah, u fantastic leh! just from seeing the tiles then know it's maysprings ah.;p <giak>

2009bride: Very fun to countdown hoh? you'll enjoy the PS experience too. =)
Oh, photostory is extremely easy to use!Insert your photos in, insert your music in wma format. (you can convert from your cd . For me, i take the easy way out by downloading from baidu.com ), follow the wizard step, viola! your own montage with music is formed.
You don't have to play cd at the back.
happy.gif
. Just select the slides where you want the music to start and stop. This program is free and there isn't any limit to the no. of times you can edit or play the slideshow. For this, i'm really appreciative of microsoft willing to provide this great software at no cost.

Winny: Hehe,yr fren spend on shoes, we spend on our bridal package. So it's one black pot to another ;p.
I hv been to a couple of weddings where the gate crashing was shown as a photo slideshow montage and it works out fine too.
happy.gif
. My PG charges $800 for 10 hrs of photoshoot, however, will hv to top up another $300+ for rushing out the morning express highlights. Therefore, i had decided not to show any express highlights, and enlisted the help of my brother to be the unofficial VG instead.

Trina: i got mine at S$105/nite then cos i stayed 6 days there.

Pinkpt: $380/pax for SQ is pretty cheap woh! Inclusive of tax and surcharge?

Aud: that cheap leh, i going to stay 6 - 7 days

but was pretty disappointed that the SQ cheap fare sold out
sad.gif
now got to pay 1k for 2 tickets
sad.gif
else it would be the same price asn pinkpt.

i got my air tickets via jetstar @ $578 for 2 pax. (everything included) To me dat is oredi freakingly cheap! i got it during a jetstar promotion. think today is the last day (subject to avaliability of cos!) I'm impressed with the SQ ticket cost. haha! cos i tried to book international airlines for late May but can't even get that kind of price! unless tax is not included yet. =p

but i've flown jetstar before. it departs from T1 so not exactly budget either. very simple flight w/o any fringes. but i thought it was ok cos only 4 hrs flight. i will bring Mags and my ds lite so i'll be sufficiently occupied. =) oh! Milo at $3 per cup! hahaha!

oh! and the flight timings for jetstar are great too. only 2 departures per day. i chose the earliest at 640am and will reach HK 10.25am. the other one i forgot. by the time u land ur butt on the hotel bed, it cld easily be 1pm. =) but still enuf time to rest!

Hi Audrey, yep inclusive of tax and surcharge but the promotional px was for flights until end of May. So shd have chose early May instead. Was scared May would be warm as well. Htb cannot take the heat in SG so tat was another reason why i wanted HK (JWN photos cldn't make it). Wat r u going to show at weddding banquet--- La Mer MTV & photo montage?

Trina: so which airlines r u taking? I think you going in March so tats why sold out at this time already.

Pearlyn: The jetstar package is cheap as well.

Which hotel are you all taking?

Trina: Mine's last week of May. Actual PS day is 27th May. but i will arrive on 25th May.

I haven really confirmed my hotel yet. contemplating 3 star or 4 star. hahaha! see wat kind of deals i can get first. =p any recommendations?

yah.. except i'm using travel voucher so i have to book from dat agency. and room rates for May not out yet.. the agency said to check end of Feb / early March. so haf to wait till then lo!

wow...all of your air tix are really v cheap...
happy.gif

the economy is really v bad now...I've been following news...starbucks, toshiba and Time warner cutting jobs worldwide...
sad.gif

the other day on 1st day of NY, news reported just that day 100,000 loss of jobs worldwide....
sad.gif

I think all items shd put up special prices...

I did not tk up their samplebook...not worth it...

Hi everyone,

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZgSbp-okqY0

Have you seen this MDW video done in HK? I really love it! I can't put a finger on why I like it so much more than all the Sg videos I have seen.

Is it the slow motion? or because the couples are not so "posy"? I wish I could go to HK to do my photoshoot because I really love the La Mer MVs and this one too. But due to time and budget constraints I had to take the local package. But now having problems finding a good videographer to do this in Singapore.

Any of you have a VG to recommend tt can do the HK videography style?

2009 Bride: This the one I like too, i told lydia about this but this one is not the la mer one i think is the 2 locations in HK. this one one location is the train museum

pinkpt: Sorry miss out your question. I am taking SQ.

If u thinking of not going too long, there is this Cathay Pacific promotion 3 days 2 nights (depend on hotel) with flight and hotel package. U can take a look. Additional day charges depend on the hotel u choose.

Ladies, actually taking photos in Singapore is quite nice too. Have you seen Lydia's wedding photos?
So far, only her local album makes me WOW!. I think it's the editting work and the PG that makes the photos sepcial.

I didnt even know the site is Singapore/Sentosa until I see the last few pages where it's taken at Fullerton.
Quite impressive i must say.

Hi Trina & Pearlyn,
I think you can try Stanford Kowloon hotel. I stayed there last yr. Too bad during the period im going there, it's fully booked. It's near Ladies market and it's convenient to get around.

Btw Pearlyn, did you sign up the MDW package during the roadshow (becoz of the travel vouchers u r using)?

Hi Silin,

Did you pose in a place overlooking the Tsing Ma bridge and did u take up nite photography? I did see a sample book of a SG couple who went to HK in November 2008.

2009 Bride, maybe you can try Brillant videography as they do have pre wedding MTV packages.

http://www.brilliantpic.com/blog/

Hi Kodomo, yep they showed me the sample book of locals who went to HK becoz i wanted to see whether its the same style of photography as HK pple who took the photography. How was ur shoot and r u planning to buy the sample book?

Anyway, any thing to take note when going for the HK photography and r we allowed to take any photos if we bring our own camera?

U can bring ur camera.. by right not supposed to take photos.. by left u can, but i doubt u have much chances to do that.. cos most of the time, u would be asked to pose to take photos.. or u would be "resting".. so i doubt much time for u to take pics. Anyway u're getting professionals to take pic for u.. why bother to bring ur camera to take somemore (",) Just enjoy their services.

I didnt buy the sample boook. As one would only allowed to buy the sample book after u have top up a certain no. of photos. I forgot the quantity. Anyway the sample book pics are jus "non-touch up" photos.. what Im more interested will be the album
happy.gif

Ohh.. many things to take note of HK photography... if u have time, jus run through the whole thread.. for those who have been to HK, we did post some useful info.

So when are u planning to go HK...?

Hi pinkpt: i did not sign up during the roadshow. i went down on a saturday but it was during the roadshow weekend so no one was ard to introduce the packages. i just took a look at their gowns and albums. was quite impressed so i went back the following fri to find out more abt their packages and i signed up dat day! i was told the travel voucher freebie had supposedly ended but they offered me dat to entice me. hahaha! it worked! perhaps they had leftover vouchers? if they had never done so, i might not take up the HK PS.

Anyway after signing up with them, i still went down to the BOWS wedding event to take a look. was quite annoyed with the way those wedding fair ppl tried to get you to sit down. everyone swarms at you. or perhaps i went at the wrong time cos i went on fri afternoon. =p but i was so put off by the over-enthu ppl dat i just wanted to walk off. but am glad to say dat i did not regret signing up with dream wedding. hope this feeling remains till after the PS. =)

Hi Pearlyn, So how much was the travel vouchers? Lucky u, did u get the $5k plus package?

Kodomo, I'm going in April which is the peak period for hotels. If i had known, i would have booked early May instead.

Lee, for Roadshows you might be able to get more perks as there is more competition with other BS.

2009bride: Wow! Thanks for sharing that video!
Hehe, that should be the HK night + 2 other hk locations package. Can identify the train musuem ,France bridal glass door as well as the Tsing Ma bridge .:D
Well, i guess HKonger's PG is above singapore's as their movie standards hv been established for so long and thus their skills are leagues above S'pore's. Just see the difference between HK & Spore dramas . :P

Pinkpt: I'll be rerunning my photo montage during the reception/cocktail, and MV before the 1st march in.
Agree with Kodomo, you wont have the time to take your own photos.Even if they really do allow, bringing own camera and taking your own pics at the same time will be too distracting..concentrate on letting the Pros take beautiful pics of you bah..I can ensure you'll have more than enuff photos to choose from. Haha! :P
To me, the most important to bring during the PG is flat shoes for walking over the pebbles..and maybe sunblock (if have the time to apply or apply heaps before going). I was out in the sun so much while taking photos at La Mer during noon hours, that i turned much darker when back for the indoor shots.
sad.gif

Kodomo: Yup, i also seen another couple's sample book who had taken their PG back in Spore. The bride was very daring, and chose a bright red gown with red lipstick. Most of the photos they took are among lalang and the wilderness. Very artistic and magazine styled like.Sherlin told me that the couple worked in the media industry and therefore, willing to experiment more with bolder concepts. =).

I didn't get the sample book too..Have to top up another $2k+ of amount/services before we are entitled to buy the book. With the really bad economy now, better to tighten belt and take the essentials bah.My company had just did a round of retrenchment and 30% of staff were let go. Though i was not affected, better not to spend so much and save up..would never know when there will be a second round. *sighZ*

Btw, had any1 tried Neo Gardens catering before? I want to order a mini buffet for my morning session and Neo gardens was suggested by my SIL.
Had goggled and most good reviews are pretty long ago.. Any1 tried them recently?
happy.gif

Hi Lee: you definitely haf bigger bargaining power at roadshows.. but you better do some homework first otherwise you will be easily swayed if they throw a good deal at you. for me, i guess i oredi haf dream wedding in mind so watever freebies dat come my way is even better! =p

Pinkpt: they gave me $800 travel vouchers. =p and yup.. i signed up for the $5688 package. so other than the package, me & HTB prob haf to cough up another $1k for the air fare and food expenses. the $800 travel voucher is prob just abt enuf for 5N stay at 3 star including taxes and all. unless got special promo!

Audrey: totally agree with you that watz unnecessary can be saved. to top abt with another $2k worth of pics is quite extravagant! esp when you consider how it can cover your AD PG and VG! and you're not going to be looking at the pics all the time. just get a few really good pics will do! =)

Pinkpt: Thanks for the rec. I have checked them out before. Somehow still not the same feel.

Audrey: That's exactly what my bf said! Can't compare Sg standard to HK standard. They are well advanced in filming! sigh so disappointing.
happy.gif

I'm thinking of flying the HK VG in to Sg. Any bride also interested? Maybe can coordinate timing and bargain for better price and share the airfare cost...

Hey what is this sample book you gals are talking about? I've never heard of it. Is it because it's not applicable to those who took up the local package?

Pearl: Hee... maybe you missed my earlier post sent last mth!
happy.gif
I shared tt I really enjoyed the interview process. It was fun trying the gowns and all the staff were so friendly and patient. You will enjoy it too! Was there for around 5-6 hours. So excited forgot to top up car park coupon and got fined ;( hee... better dun make the same mistake as me. ;P Will share again after photoshoot...

Audrey,

Your AD is coming soon...wish you happiness and blessings in your marriage. I may need your advise nearer my AD. Btw, r u a buddhist?

2009bride: Wow! Fly the VGs in to sg? Pretty big gesture.. Hehe..
You'll definitely be getting the sample book. It's a compilation of the untouched photos which was taken throughout the PS, and they had compiled it into a book for easy flipping and choosing. Trouble is the photos there are so comprehensive and nice that you'll feel the urge to top up for the sample book. :P
Haha! Same here for us. We also got fined when we were doing the interview and selecting the suits. The aunties there are very hardworking!

Silin : Surez, i'll try to give you my advise as much as i know. =)

Thanks! Gosh, i can't even say i'm excited. So many things to do.. i haven't even finalised my guest list, arrange the seating arrangement, do up the schedule and itinerary! Morever, bogged down with work. Auditors are in and also have to do Jan closing *sigHz* I can only take 1 day leave before my AD to prepare.
I'm a free thinker, but believe more towards buddhist theory ..and i also don't eat beef as my mom prays to Guan yin at home. Why? Is there any special wedding tradition for buddhist? =p

Trina: Yup, at M hotel..Urm, during the food tasting, the food is ok, but can be better. Hopefully on AD, the chef will take our comments into heart and transpire it into action by coming out with even more delicious food! I did see reviews by other M hotel brides, who had good reviews of the food by their guests leh. Hopefully on AD, the chef will take our comments into heart and transpire it into action by coming out with even more delicious food!

Yup! I choose the bridal suite. =D. The open space in front can be used for our ROM, so we can save $$ and don't have to rent another venue.

audrey: count dwn 10 more days! congrates congrates! & gosh u really am busy!
i'm also counting dwn to the 12th... cos maybe haf chance to select bto flat. but today alone i almost haf heart attack cos total of 8 person selected the flat & now remain 41 unit only...
*cross finger* hope my flat still remains till 12th... =)

audrey: Congrats too! Have a blissful marriage
happy.gif

2009bride: Wah...i think it will be expensive to fly the HK VG in... How about trying Vocare/Substance Film/36frames? They are pretty good too!I also got fined when I went to check out the gowns previously....

wah everybody got fined while at MDW. I also got fined when I went down to look at their VG and PG. Maybe they should keep a look out for us. That's what the other bridal bouq did.

Audrey,

me too no beef coz I pray to Guan Yin too. No la...if you are Buddhist then you dun hv to go through the Christian ceremony. If that's the case, we are pretty similar in our wedding ceremony then. Thus, I can ask you for more things that i will prob miss out that day.

Haha.. seems like we can consolidate the tickets and get MDW to refund us ! I got fined twice so far ! And both occasions we put coupons.. just that we were overtime !

Audrey - u are not alone... I have a fren getting wed in end Feb too.. and she's just as panicky as u... guess we will all be down to that stage.. as prepare too early seems of no use too
happy.gif
Btw, I've eaten Neo Garden several times at house warmings... but not for wedding menus. They are gd I would say.. there is another caterer which I can't remember the name now.. will help u ask my fren. Will PM u tmrw.
