Master David Tong's Advice Corner (Geomancy and Fengshui)

Dear Master Tong,

My fiance and I are both born in the year of Monkey and we will be holding both our customary and ROM on the same day; 22 Oct 2010 (Friday). We understand that the Tiger year is not an auspicious year to get married but everything has been booked.

Would like to seek your advise on what can be done to reduce the inauspiciousness?

Thank You

Hi Master Tong,

My HTB and I are planning our customary marriage, and are thinking of 2010 or 2011. Are you able to list out some of the good dates for us in 2010/11?

Groom (Rooster)
---------------
Mother: Cow
Father: Cow

Bride (Pig)
-----------
Mother: Tiger
Father: Mouse

I read earlier that that 2010 is the year of Tiger and is not good for marriages, but 2011 clashes with Rooster. Does that mean these 2 years are not really good?

Dear brides and bridegrooms to be,

I met up with Master Tong yesterday and he was really professional and helpful in his service. I would suggest everyone to get the Ba Zi reading from him as it is more accurate and catered to both bride and groom than the general good dates given here =) You would not regret it. All the best!

Hi Ying,

You can use the following days:

- 15/05, 24/05, 27/05, 05/06, 11/06, 17/06, 23/06

April to mid May is omitted due to Qing Ming.

Note that these are general days only and still be turn out to be a bad day if the date is not compatible with both your Bazi.

Hope this helps

Hi Gin,

Resale is bettter, but very expensive now. It at least ensures your feng shui is right from the start, rather than fixing it in the future...

Hi Ivy,

Here are the nov dates you can use for wkend:

14/11

this is the only available date you can use. There are no good sat dates for you as it will clash. Note that this is a 'general' date only.

Timing is for ROM or Fetch the bride?

Hope this helps.

Hi Lara,

It will be difficult for me to help you in this case coz the way temple calculate dates are bit "religious" and bring in lots of unnecessary factors, and sometimes chinese culture. Hence, there is no way i can know what that guy means.

The best way to select a wedding date is to use Bazi, and not using the Tong Shu. There are many elements in the Tong Shu that is wrong, but layman do not know (for eg, the 28 constellations is incorrectly interpreted in the tong shu..if anyone read some feng shui books before will know what i mean by this term). A good date in the tong shu does not automatically mean a good date for both of you. the Bazi of the couple must match the date selected so as to consider that day to be auspicious.

To be frank, elderly tend to tie all these date selection thingy to chinese superstitions and culture...which is not so. It is a form of astrology. Date selection is about the positioning of the stars and constellations in the solar system. Hence to convince them about these astrology thingy is not easy, esp we have no idea what that temple guy trying to say!

Hope this helps.

Hi Lala,

10th Dec 2011 is not a good day for wedding

"2nd Dec 2011 or 9th Dec 2011 or 16th Dec 2011 " -> these dates do not clash to anyone. However, the tong shu is not out yet and will be out sometimes next yr July period, hence i can't advise you if this is a general tong shu good date.

The only way to accurately select 2011 dates now is using Bazi.

Hope this helps

Hi Cheryl,

Only 17th Jan 2010 can be used and is a general good date (clash to Rooster, which is none of you). The rest either clashes or not good dates. Note that this is a general day only and Bazi is not taken into consideration

Hope this helps.

Hi vitamincc18,

Photo shoot is ok so long so your parents are ok with it coz if your parents are too superstitious, they will object to it.

Strictly speaking, you can get married in Qing ming and 7th lunar month coz date selection is a science and independent of chinese culture. But i will generally advise against doing so coz most parents will object to it.

Hi Jacq,

You cannot reduce the inauspiciousness. Date selection is a form of astrology. Astrology in simple terms means the positioning of the stars and planets in the solar system. Date selection is to select a day whereby the Qi of the day is conducive for a particular activity (eg wedding) in according to the positioning of the stars, constellations and planets.

Hence, as you can see, we can't change the postion of these stars and planets. Date selection is about "going with the flow", not against it.

Hope this helps

Hi stickytape,

2010 is only bad for those born in Monkey years. You can get married in 2010. Saying 2010 is a bad yr coz it is a tiger yr is pure superstition. If anyone can prove that out of 100 of those that get married in 2010, all 100 gets divorce, i am convinced that Tiger is bad. But we all know this is not true. Do you know any friends that get married in Dragon yr gets divorce? A search on google might reveal celebrities born in Dragon yr gets divorce too. So does it mean Dragon yr is a good yr for marriage? I don't think so

For your, 2011 is to be avoided as Rabbit and Rooster clash. Hence 2010 will be better or 2012.

Let me know which months in 2010 you looking at..if you intend to do it in 2010.

Hi Devil,

Only 11th June 2010 is a general tong shu auspicious date. The rest are not. This day clash to Dog, which is none of you.

Note that this is a general day only and Bazi si not taken into consideration yet.

Hope this helps

Hi Master Tong,

The said date is hopefully for ROM. Can you also suggest other months and dates we can use that will fall on a Saturday?

Thanks once again and more power.

Dear all, I would say Master Tong is very patient and would be meticulous in addressing your needs. In fact, I would rate myself as someone who is quite "long winded" and exchanged numerous correspondences with him over emails. His replies were always prompt and detailed. Highly recommended

actually, dear fellow brides and grooms to be.. its very true that a general good date for wedding doesn't translate into a good date for your actual wedding...

Tong Shu is very general, it doesn't take into consideration of your bazi, your five elements, your parents animal signs and etc...

A good analogy is like wedding gowns or clothes which you buy from retail.. If the gown fits another girl, it does not necessarily mean it would fit you perfectly. That's where MTM comes in... $100 for a peace of mind.. It's small amount of money...

And you can be assured that you are in safe hands

Thanks Master Tong!

Dear Master Tong,
Is 25 July 2010 a general good date for wedding?

Also, quoting Weixiang above "general good date for wedding doesn't translate into a good date for your actual wedding", does this statement apply the other way round... "a general inauspicious date can still be an auspicious wedding date based on individual sets of bazi".

Your advice is appreciated.

Hi Ivy,

Here are some dates in Sep/Oct/Nov/Dec (Sat) you can use:

- 18/09
- 23/10
- No Sat dates in Nov
- 18/12

Note that these are general dates only and both your Bazi is not taken into consideration yet. A good date in the tong shu can still be deemed inauspicious if both your Bazi is not compatible with the dates.

Once you select the date, i will let you know the timing
happy.gif

Hi Denise,

25/7 is not a general tong shu good day for wedding. However, it can be overridden and used if that day is compatible with both your Bazi.

The answer is yes and no. Yes being that an inauspicious date stated in the tong shu can still turn out to be a very good date for both of you for wedding if the date and Bazi is compatible. However, on the other hand, at the same time, there are a list of bad dates that cannot overridden and these are the very bad days that cannot be used for any important activities.

Hi Master Tong

I would like to once again check with you this time for good move in dates and timings for my new place. I am looking at the week starting 21 Dec preferably.

Owners:
Male - DOB 19 Jan 1973 (Time of Birth unknown)
Female - DOB 2 Nov 1980 (Time of Birth 7am+)
Child - DOB 24 Sep 2004 (Time of Birth 3am+)

Appreciate your advice.

Thanks.

Hi littleprince,

For move in date, i will need to go to your home to measure the direction for it. Move in and start of reno date is VERY important coz if wrongly selected, will bring negative effects to the feng shui if your house. Using just the tong shu is too generic and it doesn't take your house direction into consideration. If wrongly selected, it will activate the negative Qi(energy) in your house and bring about negative effects that will impact health or wealth.

If you ask me, doing it the tong shu way is very dangerous which is why i not willing to give here. If you want to take the "risk", i can give you the tong shu dates, but i have to let you know of the consequences first

Hope this helps.

Mother of the Bride : August 25, 1952

Hi Maria,

Here are the analysis for your dates:

January 28, 2010 - Clash to Monkey. Avoid this day.
February 01, 2010 - Not a general Tong Shu good date for wedding
February 13, 2010 - General good day for wedding. Chinese New Year's Eve.
February 26, 2010 - Clash to Ox. Avoid this day
April 04. 2010 - Very bad day for wedding
April 17, 2010 - Clash to Rabbit. Avoid this day
April 25, 2010 - Not a good day for wedding

Hence, only Feb 13 2010 can be used. I don't know if you celebrate chinese new year in your country etc coz this is chinese new year eve and normally we don't get married during this day. If you don't celebrate chinese new year in your country, then it is ok. You can use it.

Hope this helps Maria.

Hi macadamia3050,

April is Qing Ming, period, so generally that period is avoided for marriage purpose.

For March and June 2010, here are the dates:

- 03/03, 08/03, 10/03, 22/03, 05/06, 17/06, 29/06

Note that these are general dates only. Both your Bazi are not taken into consideration yet. A good date in the tong shu can still be deemed inauspicious for both of you if the dates are not compatible with both your Bazi.

Hope this helps

Dear Master Tong,

Can you kindly recommend auspicious dates for 2010 for our wedding?

Bride: Rat(1984)
Bride's dad: Dog (1958)
Bride's mum: Rat (1960)

Groom: Rooster (1981)
Groom's dad: Pig (1947)
Groom's mum: Snake (1953)

Thank you so much for your advice!!

Hi Maria,

here are the analysis for your dates:

February 22, 2010 - Not a ideal day for wedding
February 23, 2010 - Not a general tong shu good date. Can be used if Bazi is compatible with this date.
Februaly 28, 2010 - Clash to Rabbit. Cannot use
March 06, 2010 - Not a general tong shu good date. Can be used if Bazi is compatible with this date.
March 14, 2010 - Not a general tong shu good date. Can be used if Bazi is compatible with this date.
March 20, 2010 - Not a general tong shu good date. Can be used if Bazi is compatible with this date.
March 21, 2010 - Not a general tong shu good date. Can be used if Bazi is compatible with this date.
March 22, 2010 - Clash to Ox, cannot be used.

Hence only those dates that are not general tong shu good dates can be used ONLY if the dates are compatible with both your Bazi. They are not general tong shu good days though, that is if you are only looking only at general good days.

Hope this helps

Hi Master Tong,

Can I ask you if it is a must that our parent must not chiong with the date we have chosen?
Why must we choose date base on our parents zodiac and our zodiac, I thought as long as those who chiong with us just hide in the room when the bride comes in.
Please advise.
*too many comments from bf's aunt till I very confused.

Hi master tong,
Sorry to take up your precious time.
I am not getting married, but will like some help from u.
1. I am thinking of holding my daughter's first year old birthday (she is born in 19th jan 2009)in january either 16 or 17th jan 2010. can you advise which date is good to do so? do you need my family's zodiac? just in case: husband snake 1977, elder son rooster 2005, myself horse 1978.
2. you mentioned before that it is better to buy resale flat than BTO flat? if we are getting a resale flat, at what point of time must we invite a fengshui master to see the house? cause i am a bit new here. is it that we take the floor plan and location of the flat and let the fengshui master sees?
Is there any way we can sees whether a new condominium or flat that has not been build yet is suitable for our family?
I have invited a fengshui master to take a look at my flat before, and he said the house and our "ming" is not compatible. i was greatly disturbed by his words and is considering to shift house, but this time, definitely must get one suitable for us.

thanks!
