Hi david,
We are planning to get married in 2010, is it too early to check for dates?
We are looking at July 18 or July 25 2010
Bride: 15 Oct 1983 (Pig)
Groom: 29 April 1983 (Pig)
Bride's parents: Dad-1960(Rat), Mum-1960(Pig)
Groom's parents: Dad-1958(Dog), Mum-1961(Ox)
Which dates in July 2010 is good for us if not the 2 dates above.

This is the right time to select 2010 dates as most of the auspicious 2009 dates are taken up and most of my cients are going for 2010 dates now. If you select now, you are almost guaranteed to be able to book your banquet venue on the date you want. The reason being that the Tong Shu is not out yet and those who rely on Tong Shu to select dates will not be able to do so. Once the Tong Shu is out in ard June/July period, many will start booking the hotels for 2010 and it will start to fill up fairly quickly. Therefore, if you select now, you have a huge advantage over the rest to book your hotel/banquet venue
July 18 will clash to Pig, which is both of you. Not advisable to use.
July 25th will not clash to anyone. However, i will not be able to tell you if this is a general Tong Shu good date for marriage as the Tong Shu is not out yet. To determine if it is a good date specifically for both of you, the Bazi will have to be used and this is the correct method to do it, rather than using the Tong Shu.

30th May is a bad day for wedding, so pls don't use this date.
1st Aug is also not a good day for wedding, though 30th may is worse. If given a choice, both dates are not ideal.

Both dates are not suitable. Reason being that July is not a good month for marriage as the month will clash with the year. Generally we want to avoid this month for marriage if possible.

Hi Cindy,
Hmmm...there are quite a no of general good dates in Nov, but they all clashes to either both of you or your parents! Therefore, there are no dates left in Nov suitable for both of you!
The closest general auspicious date i can get for a good date will be 5th Dec 09 and 6th Dec 09. These dates don't clash to anyone.

Hi summer,
There are 2 methods of doing so, the Bazi way and the Tong Shu way. Generally if you are going for a general auspicious date, using the Tong Shu auspicious hour will suffice.
In the tong shu, if 7-9am is deemed auspicious, it can be used, whether if the groom is born between 7-9am or 7-9pm, it will not clash. Most importantly is to avoid the bad hours in the Tong Shu, esp. those that clash with the day.

Hi Cynthia,
Classical feng shui is about how you use and harness the Qi in your house, not clogging them with tons of ornaments, jades or crystals. Imagine a friend coming to your house and see your house all covered in those ornaments...will they dare to come again knowing the feng shui is bad? Major shopping centres in Orchard Road and hotels are all feng shui-ed before. Can you see them hanging any ornaments anywhere?
Normally in classical feng shui, the most important part of the house will be the main door, the stove, the bedroom and the bed location and direction within the room. If these 3 are good, generally the feng shui of the house will be good (assuming the external is good). Other factors such as the academic sector, romance sector, wealth sector etc will depend on individual house.
Normally we want the main door to be good. Well, it's true that you cannot change the location of the main door for flats and condos. So if it is bad, we got to see how bad it is. If it is very bad, it could cause serious illness such as cancer etc or even death. In this case, though it is disappointing news, don't you think it is better to know than not to know? Techniques and elemental cures can be used to minimise the effects of these negative Qi. Even if you cannot change, i will be able to advise which year the problem will occur so you have to take extra care etc. There are other methods to "change" the door, but it depends on the type of HDB you buy.
If the door is good, it is not enough. The stove is very important too. Most of the major health issues (such as kidney problems, cancer, urinary tracts problem, liver issues, couples unable to conceive though gynae proves nothing wrong with them etc etc) is the result of the stove sitting and facing the wrong Qi. This can be easily solved by few methods.
Lastly, which bedroom is the best? The master bedroom may not always be the best room as the Qi in every room is different and will tell you what will happen to the occupants staying in that room after some time. So, in Classical Feng Shui, we will identify the best room that will support your endeavours and after which, we need to align the bed location and direction to tap into the best Qi.
Only after all these, then we find your wealth spot to activate it. Note that not all houses can use water feature to activate the wealth spot. Some houses cannot use water and will bring the negative effects! Some houses don't even have a wealth spot.
Of course, the above are the main things to look out for whenever you do a Classical/Authentic Feng Shui audit. There are others such as the academic sector (to boost your study or kids study luck), romance sector (to activate your romance luck if you are single) etc etc to solve a particular problem you are facing.
So, in a Classical Feng Shui audit, a master will not just say "your house is good" or "your house is bad" or "your house should paint this and that colors". This is very superficial and easy. The reason why some elderly said that it is not good to get married in Tiger yr is because of the "characteristics" associated with Tiger..Tiger being fierce etc etc. And also 2010 is a "Mang Nian" or "Blind Year". I've explained what is Mang Nian in a previous thread. Anyway, there is no logic or basis in all these "urban legends". If every single person that gets married in the Tiger yr gets divorce, then yes, Tiger yr is a bad yr for marriage. But the truth is, there are many that are living happily ever after. Authentic date selection is independent of all these Chinese culture and traditions.
You can use the following general dates from the Tong shu:
- 17/11/09, 29/11/09, 05/12/09, 11/12/09, 13/12/09, 17/12/09, 23/12/09, 31/12/09
