Mandarin Oriental Singapore

Hi xinyi_reiko, have abt 30 to 35 tables. we got the xtra carpark passes plus the bottle of wine ..

Tot can ask for more.. hee..

Tazzy, your package should be better than mine as I have about 10 tables for my wedding. 2nights of hotel stay + helpers' room sounds more reasonable. When do you intend to hold your wedding?
No complimentary food tasting for me. I'm entitled to 30% off should i require food tasting. I may consider paying for the food tasting tho. It's a good get together for our family. If I'm not wrong, food tasting is done in one of the harbour view room.

Hi nascentnova,

I think my package is abt the same as yours just that my coordinator only give me 20% car park. Perhaps I will ask for another 5% more.

As for the food fasting, i told her I won't be having 10 pple for food tasting, so she is willng to give me 50% discount.

Hi cherly,

How many tables you are taking? Is yours in the grandballroom? Your pakcage is quite good, overnight stay for helpers.

Thanks

Hi Nascentnova & the rest

Forgot to ask, did your coordinator let you know how much is the hotel house wine per bottle? I remember mine said no corkage for duty paid hard liquor but not sure what's the corkage for own wine. I know on the normal package it says, $25 corkage for own wine and $35 corkage for hard liquor. I can't remember if my coordinator give me a better rate for the corkage of wine.

Please share. Thanks

hi gals,
im interested in holding my banquet over at the oriental..have anyone hold the banquet at the atrium suite comment?...coz i like the oriental ballroom but apparently i can't hit the min tables required and the next alternative is the atrium suite..what do u gals think about it?..n by the way happie national day =)

hm.. i check with sandy, for back up venues, we will have to pay 5000, becos they are not able to sell the room for other functions.

with the additional charges, i m thinking if i shld change my wedding to else where, or changing into indoor instead..

Hi nascentnova, Yap. thats what i tot so.. but she didnt agree. Was advised that oriental is rather sticky with the rooms... =(

Then again, the next day is actually a working day, so may not have anyone using the room, unless my helpers intend to take leave..

I intend to have it in Dec 08.

lysha,

I confirmed 35 but shd be increasing to 38 then they will give me the overnight stay for helper's room.

tazzy

my coordinator was yiwen but she had left oriental so bethany took over.

xinyi_reiko

yup yup i feel like going too cos i didn't manage to go the first
happy.gif
still thinking about it........

tazzy, I feel Oriental is pretty ok with their rooms. I was given an overnite stay for helper's room for 30 tables. I ever went down to Intercon hotel. They are more strict. The perks I wanted was not given. Like additional nite at bridal suite. Try to bug your coordinator again. Maybe try saying other hotels are giving helper's room. hehe.

sleepydopeey, Atrium suite is the one at lobby area?? I popby and take a look before. I like the reception area. Maybe because that day they were having a banquet with dream theme. Very suitable for small crowds.

Hi everyone,

Does anyone have AD pics of the Dream theme? It looks very nice on the package, but am wondering what's it like when you view the entire ballroom?

Many thanks!

Hello anyone care to share who is the better coordinator at oriental and what else to ask for on top of their normal package i really love oriental and want to hold my wedding there pls help all oriental brides!!

HI www

My coordinator is bethany, she is very professional and friendly. Mayb you would like to try her??

Lysha,

If i am not wrong, the price per bottle of house wine is $28+++.

Hi xinyi,

Thanks for the pic! Still hoping someone can post their pics online = )

It does look better than the opulent desire theme from intercon....

Hi gals,
My understanding for the dream theme is the black table cloth so are getting that for the guests or just the VIP..Most probably will be sitting down with the coodinator this weekend any advice?? how about perks???

Thank you
Nehoc

Hi Gals,

Do your coordinator tell you whether there is any sash provided for VIP tables and guest tables? My contract only mentioned chair cover will be provided but not sash.

Also do you get the name backdrop and decor on the stage FOC? Pls share. Thanks. I have to fork out additional charges for these

I have a 2 day 1 night voucher for The Oriental to sell.

Voucher entitles you to:

Reservation subject to room availability
Valid from: 01 September 2007 – 29 February 2008

Voucher is worth $367, please pm me to offer your best price. thanks!!

Lysha

Usually nowadays hotels don't provide name backdrops, only decor for stage...... If I am not wrong, sashes are all chairs for vip table and alternate for normal tables. It also depends on which theme you choose.

Lyn

No mine was yiwen but she left so bethany took over. Met her before she took over yiwen. Very nice and professional.

have emailed bethany. but so many days already she still hasnt contact me....

hi Cheryl,

Thanks. I spoke to my coordinator, she said the same thing too, also explained that red carpet is not being provided as well since the hotel carpet is quite good already ( plus red carpet is abit outdated). She said can throw flower petals during march in if I want

lydia

happy.gif

Lysha

Yup red carpet is not given but they will arrange the tables for a march in path of your choice. I am thinking of throwing petals as well
happy.gif

cheryl, do take some pics ya.. hehe..
happy.gif

hmm... i also din know they dont provide red carpet.. maybe place petals at sides of the path, together with the candle stands??

Hee ok will take pictures of the food for reference
happy.gif

As far as i know, seems that they will place candlestands at the sides of the path, think its 8 or 12......

thanks cheryl. hope she will get back to me real soon. cuz i really wish to settle for a hotel now. Am really considering Orchard hotel now. Just giving a few more glance on hotel which i meant have missed out.

Hi all

Just heard from my coordinator that oriental is changing their house wine to wolfblass and it will be priced at $60++.

For all signed contracts they will still charged $25++ for the house wine but the new ones will be $60++.

Hope the info helps

Hey, do you all think the intercon opulent desire is nicer or the oriental dream theme? I like the setting of oriental more but prefer the ballroom of intercon. Guess can't have best of both worlds... Anyway, both hotels charge the same price for weekday dinner. Still considering really hard, cos its over my budget. But if im not wrong only these 2 hotels provide the black and red themes. The rest of the hotels is customized, so won't be as nice.

Izzit?? But nehoc I called hyatt they say their hotels dun have specific themes. But they do have black table cloth and seat covers. Yah yah maybe they copy the idea.

Jojo,

My sister held her wedding at hyatt 3 years ago. Think she is the first bride to have a black wedding at hyatt. Hers was customized, black tablecloth, gold sashes for chairs and red roses. Everyone were very impressed.

Oriental only started their themes for wedding early this year so hyatt actually started first

Hi jojo,

What cheryl_c said was right.
happy.gif
Hyatt was the first one who start black theme. They also have other colours also. I like their black theme when I 1st look at it.

Now a lot of hotels are copying them. Not just intercon and oriental, other hotels also have black theme.

And i agree that intercon ballroom is very nice. But their black theme seems to be a little plain.

Haha, so I actually malign Hyatt. Hmmm.... But hyatt yet to send me any pics on the black theme and their packages. So at the moments will keep my options open.

Hi Ladies,

I have seen Oriental and InterCon setup. But I find that InterCon is nicer for the setup. They even got nice wedding favours to match each theme. Different from other hotels too.

Jojo,

when is your wedding event? :-)

Hi all,

Just did my food tasting yesterday.
happy.gif

The lobster and seafood roll is very good but the older generation might not like it cos its very cold. You MUST take the cod fish with teriyaki sauce, its VERY good (if you must have head and tail for fish, the chef can make a mock head and tail for it
happy.gif
) The rest of the dishes are also good but if you are taking the deep fried bun with chlli crab, its very spicy so some ppl might not take it.

Another point, the portion of the food is a bit small so if you have table of eleven, might have problem....

The chef is very accomodating and if you want to change the sauce or presentation of the dish, he can do it for you.

Overall their dishes are quite impressive in presentation and if your parents are not very conservative in taste, their menu should please them. Mine love them, just comment that it's different from normal banquet dishes
