Mandarin Oriental Singapore

Their bridal suite is quite alright, but its a bit small i agree... plus its in an odd placement..
heehee

Hi 1192001,

Bethany is my wedding coordinator too
happy.gif
She is prompt in her replies and really fun loving. My FH and myself are truly impressed with her service.

Do not worry you are definitely in good hands. Who else agrees with me?

1192001,

So rest assured should you choose to confirm with The Oriental Singapore, Bethany will be taking good care of u...

When is your intended wedding date and have you made any tentative booking? I had my date blocked out first as the venues seems to be taken up quite fast.

Hi Cheryl,

how have you been and how are your wedding prep coming along? You have Bethany as your wedding coordinator too! Such coincidence...

Hmm..The last we chatted was about scouting around for PG and VG..Who did you end up signing with and what are the charges like? Have a smashing weekend..

Fellow Oriental BTB's,

Just an update from my planner on the schedule that I would like to share with u gals..
themes setup at The Oriental Ballroom.
2 June Dinner : Happiness
3 June Dinner : Love
7 June Dinner : Dream
9 June Dinner : Love

Timing to pop by to view is 6.15 pm to 6.30pm. Before guests arrival for cocktails.

Hi gals

How do you gals contact your wdg coordinators? Do they provide you with mobile numbers for easy contact? I always have difficulties in contacting my coordinator.. heard their hp bills are subsidized but their numbers are not given..

Reiko

I too dislike the bridal suite very much. The layout is looks awkward and the suite has two doors. It feels like bad omen. Hahaha. Just kiddin'

Cheers
Yoko

ya, was thinking of going down to Oriental before weddings to do a timing of the walk in.. lolz.. then i can start picking my songs.. haha

hi all,

I am also a oriental BTB , AD in sept.
cheryl C, understand from earlier thread that you have contacts for AD photographer, could I have the contact too.

thanks

Finally met up with Bethany...Yup..agreed that she is very fun loving and gave us an impressive presentation and tour around.

Till now, FH n I still very happy with her. But we are still considering mainly because ours is weekend price and $1088 per table is a bit too expensive, so we are thinking if should we spend the money.

Generally, i must say congrats to all of you who have signed up with Oriental. The themes are interesting and menus look impressive. If price should be lower, we will not hestiate any longer. Ha ha.

hi geraldine and snoop,

My VG is Don from forrest productions and my PG is Lam from Rainbow Photo centre. You can find their threads under wedding VG/PG.

Both of them are about $1000 each. Both are very friendly and have good service. Just mention my name and tell them I'm the 4th jan bride. Cheers and have a good weekend.

Dear all,I'll be signing my package with Mark on 13 June. Anyone signed up recently? Can share with me what extra perks you gals managed to negotiate for? So sad...still cldnt get 1 bottle free wine per table

Hi, does anyone know if the Oriental bridal suite has a seperate washroom at the living room area? Want to ask so I'll know if there's a place where my jie meis can wear their make up and dress up.. Is this the Harbour suite or City suite? Thanks!!

Oops, forgot to ask too, if any one knows when is the list of upcoming wedding dinner dates? Want to take a look at the decor and the different themes. Thanks in advance

Hi poopy,

oriental bridal suit don't have a seperate washroom at living room area. It only have just the main bathroom.

Maybe you can try asking for a helpers room? I bug them on giving me a helpers room.

They only provide us city suite. They no longer giving harbour suite.

hi xinyi_rekio,

you mean your coordinator, mark does give you a habour /ocean view suite?? any chances of bargaining for one?? i am very disappointed then..

hi bigfish,

Nope, i got a city view suit. i did try to ask but mark don't want to give. and i am ok with it. i am more concern about helpers room.

i can understand hotel's point of view. they can use harbour view to make more money, why not. :P

hi lyn,
the difference is jus the view of the suite lor.. which direction the suite is facing. habour view is the one that faces the merlion, ocean is facing the expressway and city view is the one facing the suntec, if I am not wrong..

xinyi, i thot helpers room is given?? nope??

hi bigfish,

helpers room is given free instantly provided you have 35 tables and more.

i only having 30 tables, so need to spend sometime bargining. =/

Hi All,

Cheryl, sorry for the late reply as I was out of town. Thank you for the contacts.
happy.gif

Poopy, the Bridal Suite (City Suite) does have a separate washroom for your helpers or family members to freshen up and etc. But it does not come with the shower and bathtub. Hope this info helps. As for the setups, if I am not wrong this Sat's dinner at Oriental Ballroom is Happiness theme.

What Bethany explained to me sometime back when I asked her was the hotel does not offer HS any longer as CS has been a preferred choice because of the size of the living room and bedroom. Not even OS.

Bigfish, you are right.

Lyn, I have seen all the suites myself n I must agree that HS view is uncomparable but its rather small.OS layout is rather odd with the view of Benjamin Shearer's bridge.CS wins as its big and also has this rather spacious walkway and storage space leading to the bathroom. And comes with a separate exit some more
happy.gif
Hehehe!!! But I must say this very much depends on individual preference.

I heard that Yiwen that has left. Are any of you effected by the change?

Hallo 1192001

Glad that your FH and yourself have finally met up with Bethany...
happy.gif

Hmm...S$1088+++ is a little on the higher end huh? They have increased their package price. Have you signed on with them? You can always try negotiating and I am sure Bethany will be able to extend them to you if she can. She is rather firm too at times but definitely not unreasonable.

Never try never know
happy.gif
All the best.

Thanks Xinyi, Cheryl and Snoop, that was very useful info :-) So there is a seperate bathroom for both harbour suite and city suite right? I requested for a helper's room but they told me that it will have to be subject to availability..it's not a guarantee..so I'm abit upset. Which of you ladies face this issue too?

I love the themes at Oriental, so even if it is over my budget, I still chose it ;)
Anyway, I am a March 08 bride, what about all you ladies?

hi poopy,

how many tables you having? maybe you try to bug at your coordinator again? I bargine it before i sign the contract.

Me too like that themes and also the ballroom decorations, espeically the wallpapers. hehe~ I also choose it even though is expensive. =/

my AD is on jun 08.

thanks all for the info! Would definitely go down to have a look at the suites if its permitted lar that is.. kekeke

I have yet to see all the themes too!
sad.gif

Hi snoop

You are most welcome. Hope my info helps... Yup yiwen was my coordinator and now bethany has taken over. Luckily she is very helpful and nice enough to give me everything yiwen promised me
happy.gif

Ladies according to my PG, the XI theme has a ball hanging from each table that makes it very hard to take photos and angles would be very odd.

Just a piece of thought b4 you decide your theme....

Hey gals,
I placed a tentative booking for Oriental ballroom for 14 Sept 2008..supposed to be a auspicious day. Went down to negotiate the perks with Mark already and more or less keen on signing up. Horror or horrors, Mark called me to say that the F1 racing will be held on either Sept or early Oct!!! So he might not recommend me to hold my wedding then...sob sob..nothing's confirmed yet now but I'm realli disappointed...all the hotels in the Raffles, Marina area will be affected by F1 cos the roads will be closed and no way your guests will be able to come man...sianz
sad.gif
But I like Oriental alot...worse thing is my geomancer only gave me a few weekends (the other is 7 June which is already taken and the other is one day before my best fren's wedding!) My FH says to just get married on any available weekend before the F1 race then..ignore the geomancer's advice. I'm at a lost now..feel sianz..any suggestions gals??

hi all,
ya, yiwen was my coord too and now its bethany. Have yet to really get to talk to her. Hoping to arrange an appointment wif her though..

Hey xiaolubao, if you really like oriental hotel, my suggestion is you split the actual day tea ceremony and the wedding dinner. Meaning you can do your tea ceremony on you auspicious day then do your dinner any other nite, maybe the next day evening? I think, what is important is the auspicious tea ceremony date, wedding dinner date doesn't matter when. That's my take. I faced a similar situation too...

Hi xiaolubao,

How abt having your wedding dinner on fridays or weekdays?

jun 7 is a very popular dates. there are couple of ppl also having AD on the same day.

Lyn,

Don't worry you are in good hands....

Xiaolubao

Think it is a good idea to hold your AD on a normal date so you would not clash with any other events and do your tea ceremony on the auspicious date......

Hi Ladies,

would appreciate if you could share your photos with me. I'm interested in holding my wedding dinner there. really like the themes in Oriental Hotel.
ANyone knows of the dinner package pricing? Do they have ballrooms for 20-25 tables?

Hi snow,
Mine's tentatively 8 March. What abt you? I am abit concerned about the car parking cos that clashes with the IT show at suntec period. So it'll be very jammed in that area. what if the guests all come late with a black face? Heh.. Are you going to keep the piano there? I feel like moving it away, but I hear that will cost money.

Hi joanna, you may want to call up oriental and ask abt it? I having mine at the grand ballroom, which min table must be 30-35 tables. But they do have other 2 smaller function rooms.

poopy, how abt getting someone to play the piano instead??

Hi xinyi, yup I may ask a friend to play some piano for me. But I hear to move the piano into the ballroom will need to pay for the tuning and servicing...what about you? Are you going to keep the piano there for your wedding reception?

poopy, hmm.. I haven tot of this before. I think 35 tables and above, oriental will provide someone to play piano. I rem seeing it somewhere.

I guess I have to look through my friend's list and see who knows how to play piano. hehe. :P

I was told that if i have more than 35 tables for the ballroom, I won't be able to do the long straight march-in. Anyone with this problem?

And when i went down to check out the themes, i noticed that there was only one screen for the video.

Hey gals, anyone receive calls from oriental coordinators that if pay full sum before 30th jun, can escape from gst increase (which is abt 1% difference).

Mark called me to inform abt this news. But I told him that I don't wish to fork out 1 lump sum of money, for just a $300 discount.

Xinyi_reiko and poppy

For tables 35 and above, you can choose to have a pianist to play during your reception.

yoko

yup for the long march in, you can have a max of 35 tables and there is oni 1 screen at the end. Think the L shaped march in is the best bet
