I just got Oriental quotations 2008 and decided to post the info here for everyone's convenience

Oriental is $888++ per table for weekday and $988++ per table for weekend.

Note that
"Corkage charge of S$35.00 per bottle will be levied for hard liquor and S$25.00 per bottle will be levied for wine and champagne brought in for consumption during the wedding celebration"
 


hey does anyone have the chinese name for Oriental Singapore? Apparently NONE of the coordinators there know the name and cannot provide it at all. Sounds fishy...
 
hi ladies

Hope to get some opinion/ideas from you all....

I'll be registering my marriage overseas but no solemnization (exchange vows). I'm holding my dinner at Oriental's Garden Suite, expecting 100 guests, buffet-style.

Do you think it's a good idea to hold the solemnization at the waiting area around 30mins-1hr before rest of the guests come? Coz Garden Suite is quite a nice, cozy enclosed area.....

Or maybe I should do it during the dinner?
Or book a small function room? Any idea if it's expensive?

Anyone come across similar situation before?

Anyone knows if we can use our own compliation CD for dinner at Oriental? (meaning i'll burn songs i like into CD)
Or only original CDs are allowed? coz apparently another hotel doesn't allow own compliation CD....must be originals....

Hi all

Was told by my coordinator that "The Oriental Hotel Singapore" will change their name to "Mandarin Oriental Singapore"/"Wen Hua Dong Fang Jiu Dian" wef 25th Sept 2007.

So just make sure when you send your invites for printing, the name of the hotel is correct if your wedding date is after 25th Sept 2007.

I'm an Oriental Bride too. My banquet is on 8 Dec 07, abt 4 mths from now.

I understand that most of u hv 2 LCDs as perks. Is this LCD TV or jus the normal projector screens? How many projectors does Oriental provides?

It is projectors screens they provide. Number of screens depends on your stage placement. Middle stage will get 2 screens at each end and end stage will get only 1 screen at the opposite end.....
 
Hello cheryl, mine wedding prep have not really kick start as still have quite sometime to spare... next month then will go for gown fitting..
 
Thanks Xinyi for the reply. Wonder if they'll increase prices for 2008 during the wedding show in Oct again. Right now it's 788++ for Mon-Thurs, 898++ for Fri and 1088++ for Sat and Sun.
How much deposit did all of you pay?
 
is the wedding show confrim for oct??

I paid 5k deposit. I think is a standard amt for most hotels.

But we have to pay up 1/2 of the total amt 3 weeks before AD.

Fri's price is $828+++, not 898. As for the deposit ,its 5k but think they change the policy to full payment 3 weeks before the AD.

If your date is b4 3rd quarter of next year, think you will not be affected by any price increase.......

Really?? Yup looks like they really increased their prices.... But I must say that their menu is worth that price.....

Hi everyone

Did anyone of you just printed your card inserts and collected the wedding cards for any of the 4 new themes from Oriental?

Question 1. How did you attach the insert to the card? By double-sided tape or using the gold strings?

Question 2. Did Oriental Hotel give you the wedding cards with the new hotel name "Mandarin Oriental Singapore" printed which will be in use from 25th Sept 07 onwards or the current hotel name "The Oriental Singapore"?

i am planning to hold my dinner at oriental too..wanna check with you gals do you think it is better that i paid the deposit now or wait till the wedding show then signed up with them?..coz since they just released the 2008 price list i believe they will not increase again at the wedding show rite?...n also for those brides that have their wedding at oriental, care to comment on their food and service? =)
 
Hi Dericko, Sorry unable to help you on your questions because my wedding is in 2008. But from what I know, people used glue, gold strings or double-sided tape to attached the insert to the card.

Hi sleepydopeey, oriental currently have not finalised the wedding show date. Hence, abit risky. What if your date is taken up before the wedding show?? You will be disappointed. Somemore tong shu for 2008 is already out. Do consider these points.

Hi, i m dec 08 BTB..

Intend to have my AD at oriental. Met up with the coordinator, & was trying to negotiate for better deal, but didn't get much from her... is this the norm for you gals when negotiating the pkg with oriental? Are there any other peaks thrown in by them? can share?

Was also told that there's no difference in terms of the peaks thrown in during the bridal show.. so sleepydopeey, if you have decided & satisfied with the pkg, it's better to confirm now..

Tazzy, I rem reading in this thread that during wedding show will have some free bottle of wines. I not sure if is true or not.

When I signed up in May, the wedding show in Apr just over, my coordinator said that they entended the wedding show deals. Not sure if that is true.

These are the things that I have gotten from my coordinator:
- 2 nites stay
- Free flow of beer
- No corkage charge for wines and liquor
- 2 LCD projectors
- 1 helpers room

I feel their perks are already pretty attactive. So I can't think of what to ask for. If ask for more wines, I believe they wont throw in, since already waived free corkage.

xinyi_reiko is right. Her perks are extended from the bridal show. I signed up during the bridal show and had the same perks and more.

If your date is popular then better booked first but if you can wait, it is better to sign during bridal shows, more perks.
 
Hey cheryl_c, do they have food tasting during the wedding show?? I feel like going to look at all their themes and taste their food.. keke..

Was reading in another wedding forum that, ppl commented stage deco was very plain. Love theme also very plain.

i intend to book oriental's harbour terrace for my wedding..

its an outdoor venue, so will oriental cross-book another venue for bad weather?
if yes, do we have to pay for the cross booking? or do we pay only if alternate venue is used?

Quite ok with the perks they throw in but still not as good as the one from Marriott =(

Now in dilemma, don't know which to choose.
Any advice here?

nascentnova, yap. Heard from Bethany that the wedding show will be on 7 Oct. Really? You also heard the same thing? Is it fr Bethany?

Think she mentioned the extra perks are likely some free bottles of wines (as shared by xinyi_reiko)..

Hey Tazzy,Yup spoke to Bethany but she didnt let us know when is the wedding show. I'll be holding at the Garden Suite.
Lysha, no contract was given to me but these are what i can remember on hand:
1. 1 bottle of wine per table
2. waiver of cockage
3. 1 night stay
4. 1 barrel of 30litres beer
5. extra 5% of carpark passes on top of 20%.

the rest are the same as other hotels like wedding cards for 70% attendance and so on.

if i am not wrong, they will reserve a function room in case of bad weather and you don't have to pay for alternative room.

I heard they served the actual banquet food during the bridal show. I didn't get to taste it as my sis went on my behalf but i heard its very good!!

I talked to the banquet manager and he said the best theme to take in the grand ballroom is the dream theme

Bth my FH & myself love the dream theme too!

Really hope can wait till bridal show but I have to make decision soon cos' another couple is ready to put deposit.. =(

Dream theme I feel is very black leh. I am interested to look at Xi Theme. hehe.. I like dream theme. Elegent. I like the centerpiece especially.

I think is pretty easy to get 25% of carpark passes from them. How wish I have free bottles of wines. Hehe~
