Hi Tatty,

If you're thinking of looking for them in Sg, there are a few locations.. But nottoo sure of how much they are charging their kebayas..

you can try the shops above New Market Road Food centre. I nv took down the unit no though..
I happen to come across 2 shops that tailor kebayas. They I tink they do have off the rack ones too.. But I must say that their varieties of kesosongs are very limited. Max i tink is only abt 5 designs.

I did enter one shop with 2 ladies. One was at the sewing machine and the other was attending to a customer. I personally feel that she's rather stuck up and not friendly. She doesn't smile and No way to try bargaining with her. She will just tell you their prices are fixed. She's selling her kerosang at $25 nett.

There's another one with an uncle attending the shop. He's quite friendly.. I find his customer service is so much better.. I was able to negotiate in getting the kerosang from him from $28 to $20. So I just bought from him though I still feel its expensive.

If you wana get more varieties of kerosang, you can try joo chiat complex. There are a couple of shops tailoring and selling off the rack kebayas too..

Hello Tatty, i got my kebaya done at Kim Choo's at Tanjong Katong. I also got my kerosang there. My sarong is from a smallish shop in Chinatown Shopping Centre. It had sequins sewn on, so very sparkly!

I will realy love to get to wear sarong kebaya for my tea ceremony.

Can you gals recommend a good place in Malacca that does them? On budget constrain.

The peranakan bloodline in me is probably very thin but I love how elegant one can be wearing a kebaya... will pple think i m wierd?

Hi hotstuff,
How much did u pay for your sarong kebaya and the kerosang? Can u remember which part of chinatown or the unit#? Thanks.

Hi ladies, you can checkout "Rosetta" at Bedok North. I got my set Kebaya (OTR) + Sarong (MTM) less than $300. There is some discount going on now.

Its a cosy shop but reasonably priced.

Hi all.. I'm new to this thread ... need advise on when to wear the kebaya.. i should be wearing a kua for going back to my mom's home and the tea ceremony. but FH is peranakan.. thot its a chance for me to wear kebaya..but not sure which is the appropriate time... i'm having customary, solemnization & dinner all in a day...help...

jess : i would like to see your PS as well, [email protected]

So excited, tml gg to collect my kebaya from Malacca from Nonya Heritage. Still thinking should I buy a baju lok-chuan for my hubby. Do you girls know where to get one that is not too ex?

hey can I ask whether you guys think its better to make in Singapore or go up to Malacca to make? Just taking into consideration workmanship and budget..

thanks much!

hi raine..
not sure about malacca side.. never been to the shops there to take a look.
But can get mtm kebaya at joo chiat complex. Cost less then rumah bebe and kim choo's by quite a fair bit. Workmanship not bad...

Hi Jaslyn,

Thanks very much, but alas your msg came a little too late! I bought my kebaya from Kim Choo already.. considered OTR (but sarong must sew).. very fated also cos it fit me exactly, with the proper phoenix design for weddings.. and colours are great also. Am very happy with Kim Choo and Raymond is such a wonderfully nice and patient guy to work with.

hello,

im thinking to wear kenaya for my rom. where can i get a afforable one? my budget is ard $100. is it possible? I went to joo chiat and city plaza, but couldnt find any.

hi val, I think it might be quite hard to get a kebaya for $100... the top itself already costs more than that.. $200 will also be a bit hard.. but the more simple the design, the cheaper it is. Try Kim Choo (opp Katong Mall) they have OTR ones, but those don't come that cheap either. If you can find a shop that rents Kebayas (if there's even such a thing!) then maybe it cld fit yr budget. Good luck!

hi, girls.
when you order to tailor a dress for you, do you need to choose the fabrics yourself?
that means the price for it is "fabric price" + "tailor's work"? is this correct?

hey val...
not too sure if this is coming too late.. but you can try this shop at changi village... it opens only about 5pm and closes at 11pm... saw a kebaya top selling at $55. embroidery looks pretty nice...
Julia... my mtm kebaya came as a package. $300 inclusive of everything... got it at people's park complex.

all> not too sure if this thread still working.
but i intend to make a kebaya for my mum for my my wedding.

any tailor shops to recommend?

hey hey... found a really good kebaya shop..... very nice and worth while...
hee.... so glad i did not get it from people's park instead...
Roxy Square 2, Judy's Creation.

hi ladies,

I'm going to Malacca this wkend.
I was just wondering issit better to buy the kebaya there or at this shop neng amy at joo chiat?

anybody went to neng amy to check it out?

Hi Trinity,

I got my kebaya from J Manik in Malacca. The lady actually tailor made the skirt for me and had it delivered to Singapore.

The shop's located at Jonker Walk.

I don't think the shop sells any cloths for Babas though.

=) christine

Trinity,

hope my reply didn't come too late - I normally go to rumah kim choo at east coast road for kebayas and my HTB's batik shirts

I just went to check out the following kebaya shops as recommended above today in one afternoon: Rumah Bebe, Rumah Kim Choo, Judy Young Creation, Neng Amy Trading p& Rosetta Trading and finally decided on Rosetta. The shop has many designs and the lady was very patient and friendly. Price wise was reasonable too.

wigglywink: am glad you found one that works for you

hope you have fun choosing the kebaya you love and post some pictures here too.

Here's what i just picked out from Rumah Kim Choo for a gf's upcoming wedding. It looks a little tight as i am wearing a tank top below while trying it on. Its an off the rack piece and cost $238 (a reference for price).

hi wigglywink (wiggly),

why not post a pic here to ask for help? alternatively, you can try bringing your kebaya top to shops like rumah bebe or rumah kim choo or even amos meus for help in finding a suitable bottom?

I want to share with all of you a wonderful shop at people's park complex! Its on the 1st floor and they have very pretty nyonya kebayas.

Her lady boss Indri is very very sweet. My friends and myself were there to try on & bought the kebayas. She helped us with matching the blouses and skirts, even taking time patiently showing us various color combinations. Spent quite a lot of time there. We had a great time matching and all of us went home happy. She's not very good in English thou, she speaks malay/bahasa indonesia.

Best of it all, they are having 30% discount off their tops till this sunday.

Prior to this, I had gone to check out a few different places like Arab Street and the Hawker Centre near Smith Street, but either the quality was really poor for the cheaper ones or the better quality ones were much more expensive.
