Hi,

frankly speaking, i didnt open any wines at all cos we dare not to as military guys wld drink it like tap water. Therefore we strictly stick to beer only. on that nite, 80litres of beer was consumed (including the free 30litres from HI). we paid only for 50litres beer.

i cant imagine if i open wine. hehe. glad did the right choice.

Pls. take note for Muslim and Vegetarian meals per person, u can to pay extra for it (according to ur per person table costs).

overall, our total bill for whole dinner event came up to $28k.

orith,
mine is on a weekend.. i think my perks not as good as others. I dun really like intercon's deco so i wont be using their themes and will liaise with the florist.

QooQoo, thanks for the suggestion. To serve wine only after the 1st dish. That's brillant.

Think I will tell them the same.

Orith, my AD is 27 June 05. Oh yea...Adeline showed me some photos of the new theme when I sign the contract. It's very nice. There are totally 4 new themes. They will be adding 'decorative baju' (like those at the VIP tables) to each alternate chairs for non-VIP tables and not many hotels have this. Also heard that they will be incorporating some changes to the wedding favours but yet to finalised the order with the vendors. I am planning to have a peep at the ballroom this saturday (if there is a wedding) to look at the overall setup. Tink Kite once said we can pop by before the guests arrive.

little_ger, will you be paying the florist extra to customise the ballroom deco? Is this florist the one which has tied up with Intercon?

Hi all,

I have decided to sign up with Intercontinental for year 2006. My coordinator is Adeline but I do not find her very friendly and very rush..a bit "taut" attitude. I decide to sign up because i like the place. Next year (2006) each table is increased by $30 (excluding taxes) and they are going to have a promotion in March this year..so keep a look out.

ribbons,
This year's package price is :
Weekend
Lunch (minimum of 20 tables) S$650+++ per table of 10 persons (Fri, Sat & Sun)
Dinner (minimum of 32 tables) S$768+++ per table of 10 persons (Fri & Sun)
S$788+++ per table of 10 persons (Sat)

For next year, I think there's a $30+++ increase per table.

Hi,

Been reading all your posts and it's made me more confident to choose InterCon. My FH really liked the ballroom, but our main concern is parking... We're worried that people coming for the dinner will not be able to find parking and the dinner will have to start late. For those who have had their dinner at Intercon, can I ask what time your dinner started? And do you know where guests can get alternative parking?

Thanks!

Jean,

Intercon is sharing 600 lots with Parco Bugis... For weekend or major holidays, you may have some concerns there.. Other than that, should be okay..

Mrs Lim,

I met Adeline too.. She's okay and yes, she was rushing off to another meeting before we could confirm everything with her...

Everyone,

Has anyone been able to avoid the increase of $30+++? Please advice. Thank you.

Am thinking of of having my dinner on a sunday so chances are that bugis will packed i think. am stressed now - my parents are not keen because of the parking thing... sigh.

btw, i think i was adeline's last appointment last sat and she looked really tired - she kept apologising for running low on batteries so we ended up feeling rather sorry for her.

Jean,

I'm not sure about the date of your wedding. However, we were told that parking lots will also be available just across the road when the National Library is up and ready. That could help..

BTW, did you have any luck in avoiding the increase cost of $30+++ per table?

beanbean

New Member
slyvester, adeline told me about the national library thing but i'm not confident it'll be ready in time - i'm having my wedding at end october this year. guess we'll really have to manage expectations if we have it at intercon! but since i'm having it this year, the increase in cost thing doesn't affect me so sorry, can't help you there! as far as i know, most hotels are pretty strict with their price increases though (cos i did inquire about 2006) so good luck with that.

anyone else, any suggestions of alternative parking will be appreciated.

by the way, can anyone tell me if having 40 tables is going to be very cramped? i'm told they can do it but i'm worried that everyone will be very squashed...

slyvester

Jean,

Yupz.. I don't think NLB will be ready by Oct..

Anyone who has considered Intercon,

Could you pls share with me the max. corkage waiver on wine and amt of beer you managed to negotiate for? The proposal we received allowed only 24 bottles waiver and 20L Beer for a weekday banquet of about 30+ tables... Is this a good deal?

All comments, advice, thoughts, feelings are welcome... :)

Hi little_ger

Do you think they can allow to waive 25 bottles if i only have 25 tables?? Are they flexible on waiving the corkage??

Hi Bluegrapes,

Wow that is alot ...... ur wedding is a weekday or weekend wedding?? do u negotiate for it before signing up with the hotel?

What other things u negotiate for??

Any comment on the food?

bluegrapes

Hi Slimmy,

My wedding is a weekday wedding. Yep, negotiated before signing up. Another thing is wedding cards- 70% of the confirmed attendance instead of 60%.

My opinion is HI already has very attractive perks including FULL menu food tasting for 10 and the helpers room is overnight stay including breakfast.

wow bluegrapes, ur perks are very good... think i am gonna bargain with adeline again..

btw, do u think intercon has got cod fish?? thinking of changing the fish to cod fish.

bluegrapes

Hi little_ger,

Did u not receive a copy of the intercon menu? They do not serve cod fish. Anyway, I have come up with a spreadsheet computing the total cost (including gst & svc charge) based the dishes u choose. Let me know if u want a copy.
