Hi
My wedding is in 2 mths and we've yet to confirm decor and food.
This forum has been very informative.
Thanks ladies

Any suggestions/recommendations on decor ppl?
We don't want to spend much and also just want something simple and elegant. Nothing extravagant.

How much are you gals spending on temple wedding decor if you are getting married at a temple.
(if you don't mind me asking)

Thanks gals

Appreciate it!

Hi Piscesturq,

Congrats!

Decor - Pandora Tomorrow, Sountracx, Seven Events..You can find them on FB!

I havent reached my temple wedding planning yet so cant help you with that budget but it depends on what you need. Some temple halls will recommend people they have worked with like KM Wedding Svcs.

You must be getting excited!

Hi all,

How was your deepavali celebrations!

Ive totally neglected my planning over the past 2 weeks coz of work. This week we're heading to Kinara for a food tasting - For the wedding dinner. Any thoughts on Kinara? Personally ive never had their food before.

My printers in India are also pissing me off with their inability to apply my selected font to my invite despite sending them the font file twice! Sigh. Letting my SIL handle them coz i dont need the stress wrinkles!

Anyways, hope everyone has been doing well and lets keep this thread aliveeee!

Hi ladies very informative Page im a Makeup artist too and my wedding plans are somewhat scheduled for next year ;) have been reading thru all the infos shared thanks for it too cheers and congrats all brides hugs !!!

Sumi : haven't really tried Kinara before but heard good things. hope it goes well

Piscesturq : Welcome to the forum!

Hi

Thanks Kala and OMG 8 days! i'd be in panic mode.
what else do you have to get done?

Hi gals
What wedding favours/door gifts have you purchased for your wedding? I'm looking for something "indiany".

I've heard there's a new store at JB that sells lots of Indian wedding stuff but I can't seem to find the add.

Where have/are you getting yours from?

Piscesturq: Actually if you don't mind online shopping, you can buy clothes direct from India. Am considering that but my hubby wants me to rent my wedding lengha. He says only use once, waste $$$....
sad.gif

hi raj
i havent decided on my decor yet. i might end up wth Kuna cos theres a wedding after mine so might use the same decor if i like it. its still in the talks. i can tell you the price that Sountracx told me here so other BTBs can have an idea too..

if you go to their page on FB and search for the latest pic of the decor at the ceylon road temple, its pink and gold etc, they told me that's $2600.
For me that's a bit steep for just the stage decor. i'm waiting on Kuna's quote.

i'm not too keen on online shopping for the wedding outfits as you can't be too sure on the quality of the material and the workmanship. so its Tekka shopping for me
happy.gif

What are you giving out as your wedding favours/gifts?
i'm still searching...might end up with laddoos!

Kala: Congrats you must be happily married with all the wedding stress put behind

Piscecturq: Thanks dear for sharing

Since you shared, let me share my journey with you

I signed a package with Serangoon Garden Country Club (SGCC), my wedding date is on 19 Oct 2013. I immediately had a liking towards it, because there was no pillars blocking the guests view. The chandeliers were also grand and the atmosphere felt cosy. They also had many screen and projectors around. Secondly, the guy Balan whom we spoke to was kind and accommodating. I wouldn't say I am a bridezilla but he managed to assure me on several occasions. To allay my anxiety, he invited us down to view the set up of an Indian wedding on 30th Nov 2012.

Please note that this package involves Sountracx as the main decor person and a choice of 4 caterers (*we have to chose one after food tasting).

My observations of the set-up on that day by the decor company:
- I loved the Mandap set-up (the package that we signed allowed us a choice of 4 different themes).
- There was no center piece for all tables (I guess maybe the couple didn't want any).
- There was only an artificial flower center piece for the VIP tables.
- I think the decorations along the stairway leading to the venue can be severely improved. (The cloth that was used to draped the stairways was not ironed and the crease lines were obviously visible to the naked eye. I also had some other issues with it but I guess I attribute my nitpicking of that day to PMS.
- I did not see any nice showpieces along the aisle where the bride and groom will walk thru.

But I guess at the end of the day, you pay for what you get. I think what I saw was pretty basic and I would definitely need to top-up $$ if I would like it to be grandly decorated (Balan also told us that we would need to top-up extra cash if we would prefer a more extravagant decor theme).

Oh btw, just so you know, my traditional ceremony will be held there. They allow for a small fire pot in the venue.

PS: Sorry for the long story :P

Oh ya, I forgot to add, I actually saw them fixing stuff and doing the final touch up at 630pm....lol..I would have been having a panic attack if i was the bride....guess the bride didnt know la...So brides to be...please tell your decor team to close shop 1 hour before time

Hi Ladies

Just want share my experience in engaging an Indian bridal service for my hairstyling and saree tying recently. The person supposes to arrive at my house at 4am. Then she changed her timing to 5am few days before my event date. I told her that I need to be ready by 6am. On my wedding day, I waited till 5am no show. So I sent her message but no reply. Then I called her. She sounded like she just woke up. By the time she arrived at my house was almost 5.45am. I engaged a Chinese hairstyling for my mum hairstyling. Since she was late I had to tell him to my hairstyle. But I still paid her the full amount for hairstyling and saree tying. She got the cheek to take the money even she did not do my hairstyle.

I still tolerated her bad service and even asked my father to drive her to the temple for my 2nd saree tying. After my 2nd saree tying she disappeared from the temple. She also messed up my hair when she changed the accessories for the 2 outfit.

When I returned back her accessories she complained that I gave her back by in a mess. She left the temple so quickly and she didn’t provide me the boxes to put the accessories. But she expects me to return back nicely. I separated her accessories in two plastics and return to her. I tried my best to return in properly because I know Indian bridal accessories are expensive. But she had the cheek to complain to the person who recommended her to me. If she was not happy she should have approach me. So please do check properly about makeup artist roughly before you engage one.

Ks Amy : I usually provide my brides with al the necessary box item to keep in the jewels that they rental from me so that they stuffs will be in a more safer condition so far I was having no problems at all as for bridal assignments it will also be easier for if MUA n the client can also double confirm appts on the eve again to avoid any conflicts . Weddings is something to be remembered for a life time . I feel if a bride is unhappy from the start it's gonna be hard for her pretending to be happy . For trad weddings I usually do it as a tag team with my mum I handle the Mkup n she customsy brides trad her ( according to their request) n Saree tying I feel a one man show thingy is really stressing on a Mkup artist part for trad wedding as everything for the doll up is done lies in he/her hands

Hi Raji nope dear I don't rental lenghas at the moment babes am planning in the near future once I get my new place up and running will revert when I do than the soonest î–tried saheli ? Some of my brides rental from her too .

Hi beautiful BTBs!

I'm new here..Anyone here mind sharing ur itinerary for ur hotel reception as I'm kind of lost in planning here on the timing part & clueless where to start :/

Thanks! ;)

Hi Kayal
happy.gif
Yups its true, I went through the whole process of finding out where a traditional wedding can be held. My traditional Indian wedding will happen at Serangoon Country Club, which allows for the fire to be present. Other clubs and hotels have fire safety rules and are not willing to take responsibility if an event occurs
happy.gif

Hi Shona, I am not too sure if you would like to see my draft. If that is okay with you, I can email the draft to you. Please note that this itinerary will be given separately and will not be attached to the wedding card. As we feel that it is important to describe to our guests each and every single detail that is happening during the wedding. The wedding card will have the typical invite.

Hello Rajni!

Thanks for those xls ws. Gd templates.. =)

The timing part like 1st entrance, changing to 2nd outfit & then 2nd entrance, photo taking with guests time that worries me... cos understood from the MU artist she needs like 40mins for us to get ready for d 2nd outfit...haha meaning 1st wear not many can afford to take pics with us (unless chop2) hmmm... I guess it's high time I squeeze some 'brain juice' to carefully plan :/ I have like 4 mths odd now. Too early?? I feel that hotel Event Mgr could somehow give some guidance from past wedding arrangments? When's ur big day though?

Shona : Its never too early to plan - Trust me...lol..I already have an excel spread sheet of henna services. I am currently trying to compile others. I think sometimes as much as we are willing to pay for a wedding, we should be observant about the cost of things - hence the spreadsheets. My wedding is about 11 months away and I am already sourcing and planning.

Hi Raj
My wedding is next month and i have not confirmed my henna person yet! I've sourced a couple around and they're charging a lot to come to my house for their services.
would you mind sharing your list for henna services please! PM me.
Thanks very much raj

Hi Raj. Thank you. I am still in the midst of sourcing out for venues. We just did our ROM in Raffles Marina. Beautiful place and perfect ambience, if you want both the outdoor and indoor feel. Still sourcing high and low for a wedding venue for the traditional. Looking for something unique and nice.

Hi Rajni,

Agree with u!

I engaged Saheli for my own henna (love their intricate designs & colour) whereas for the guests, it's Vinoz (simple designs range) as she is charging relatively cheaper than some which I got quotes from. It seems to me some vendors are changing by hours basis..cheapest I ever came across was $120/3hrs (upto 9 pair of hands-both sides)

Sort of feel the need to be "kanchiong" now hehe
happy.gif

Picesturq: Your email please
happy.gif

Shona: Ur right, the most expensive ones can go up to 350 ++. My personal opinion - I feel that with so many things going on with what the bride (lengha/sari/makeup) is wearing, little attention is often given to henna. Intricate or simple, it often goes unnoticed by many and is often hidden by the huge amount of bangles on the bride's wrists. So I am often in a dilemma when it comes to henna and might opt for a middle ground but I know I wont be forking out more than $200 for this...heeeee...(*Just my two cents :P)

Hey girls, hope everyone is having a super duper fun xmas and a new year. While celebrating the festive season, I decided to hand out my very own bridesmaids card!!!! Am super proud of myself...lol...Its actually quite a fun project to do, hope the girls will like them. Here's a picture for you guys

Sumi: Hey Sumi! Nice to see you back! Everyone has been quiet..lol..Awesome that your getting back on the bandwagon. I am also trying my best to finalize my PG/VG, Priest and wedding lenghas. I have not heard of Divine Favorz, its a first after you mentioned it. U planning to give away candy as wedding favors?

happy.gif
Happy planning. I am an Oct 2013 BTB. I have posted some templates up in the earlier post, you may download it from there. The templates are really helpful.

I will be shopping at Lil India tekka mall to see their price range of wedding lenghas this sat
happy.gif
Cant wait!!!

Raj: Speaking of lenghas, my fiance bought me the most gorgeous one back from his trip to India! And so cheap compared to places in SG! I cant wait to make my trip there as well for saree shopping!

I think for the ROM, i will be giving away some kinda candy in jars with personalised labels and stickers!

Hearts: Congrats and welcome! Will your engagement be at home?

Sumi: Super jealous!!!!!..lol...but i am happy for u
happy.gif
My fiance flies and I dont even dare ask him to buy me one, that's coz he sucks at fashion, big time!!! BTW, can share where did he get it from, as in which area to shop in India?
I am in love with those purplish pink lenghas...
