Indian wedding Services in Singapore

Rajini: Nope, printing in India. I wanted a more modern card but sadly was outnumbered so we went with a slightly traditional card but thank god its pretty! And nope, our traditional will be at Tank Road temple next year

Kala: Her dessert tables look so yummy! I will prob order my door gifts from her..Quite affordable

Hello,
Many thanks for your tips.
Since most of my research is done online (don't live in Singapore right now), I was indeed thinking of Muthu's Curry for the relatives dinner - their website said that they have space for a separate room.
Have never heard of Masala Art - do they serve North or South Indian? I'll have to check out their website.
We're also going to have a party for friends at the Serangoon Gardens Country Club the next evening - their price is quite good and don't think we'll get it any cheaper at a restaurant.
Has anyone been to a wedding/reception there? Any feedback?
And haha, I must be the only one getting married who doesn't think it necessary to spend money on cards. And we have to give door gifts?? Is this normal? Hmm maybe I better really look seriously into this planning..

Sumi: I feel for you
sad.gif
I am pretty much worried too. I most probably get the printing done in India.

MDL: Care to share how much Serangoon Gardens Country Club is charging? I reside near the vicinity too. My reasons for considering country clubs is only because of it cheaper options compared to that of a hotel.

MDL: Serangoon Gardens CC is pretty! The only reason we didnt take it for the ROM is coz it was not available for our date and also, quite far as most of our relatives stay in the west. I didnt want to get cards from the printers actually, i was gonna get my designer from work to design a card and print on fancy paper but was sadly over ruled by my IL's who wanted something more traditional. Oh well, you win some, you lose some. Door gifts are normal at Indian weddings, usually its something sweet or a lil trinket of sorts.

Rajini: When is your big day? Are you planning to head to India for wedding shopping?

Sumi: You are tempting me to go see Serangoon Garden CC..lol..MY AD is next year 2013 in October. I am trying to pace myself so as to not get overwhelmed with the uphill task ahead! My venue is not confirmed yet but looking at the fact that I have a truckload of family; it will most probably be held in the temple. I was hoping it could be different for once…

Hi
SGCC had a minimum of 20 tables @ $78 per person for the Indian menu. But you can also rent just the room and cater from outside. They also have a BBQ menu at $45 per person, min 30 persons. We just like their flexibility and communicativeness more than any of the others we've been in touch with.

Rajini: Go and take a look! No harm! Are you having a dinner after the traditional or are you combining both?

MDL: Oooo i didnt know you could just rent the room! Do you know how much the rental is?

Sorry peeps
happy.gif
Been busy with work.

Sumi: Will go check it out. I am trying to combine the both (this also includes the both north/south customary procedures)Sigh...not easy!

Renting a room sounds like a better deal, however I quite like the barbeque idea!

yo peeps. my fiance and I are not the sorts who celebrate our birthday grand. we are simpletons

I'm just looking for a venue where i can hold indian/tamil traditional wedding with non-vege food.

also Rom ceremony in the same venue. any experiences?

Hi all! I have finally finished up my invites for the ROM. The response has been great, everyone loves them and kept commenting on how cute they are, YAY!

In other news, I have decided on Saheli for my ROM make-up + hair. Just went down last week to buy my engagement saree. So now I have to shop for HIS suits + my accessories. Anyone bought accessories from the FB page Bedazzled Boutique before? Their items are very pretty and quite affordable but a little apprehensive, seeing as it's based in M'sia so I can't really view the items before-hand.

Sumi : I managed to talk to the venue co-ordinators and they now allow me to have the dessert buffet! YAY! I also met up with Pandora Tomorrow and am awaiting their quotation. As long as it's not unreasonable, we will be going with them
happy.gif

Btw, does anyone have contacts for wine suppliers?

Nitz : If you want non-vege food, temples are defnitely out. I know of someone who did it in my ROM venue, the NUSS guild house. It can hold about 300 pax and if you prefer simple, I think it fits the bill. Alternatively, CCs and function halls would do too. My best friend did her ROM together with the traditonal wedding (in a temple though) and it did take up quite some time. But her wedding was a morning one, so you don't really feel it.

Happy planning everyone!

Hi guys, I need some help. I got pigmentation over my skin and I want to try to lighten it. My friend tried chemical peel but i burnt her skin now even worse than before. Any advice?

Rajini: I have north and south indian procedures as well! I totally understand!

Nitz: if you wanna cater non-veg, then Khalsa is your best bet if you wanna keep it low key and low cost!

Kala: Oooo now i wanna see your cute invite!
happy.gif
Indian accessories? You can head down to JB, there's a shop just opp the temple that has nice accessories which are quite cheap!

For me, we have sorta stopped planning for abit coz an immediate family member has a serious health issue. Waiting to hear from the doctors before we go ahead with the planning. But we're being positive!

Sumi: Lol, am glad there is someone out there who understands! All the best and I hope the relative gets well soon!

Jasmine: Just to share, I had stress induced skin reaction and I visited the dermatologist at Mt Elizabeth. Her treatment was good (*had to use steroid cream for sometime but my skin is back to normal now!)I rather you go see a skin dermatologist than a aesthetician.

Does anyone know where to get presentable but cheap invites?

Hi all,

Been such a busy weekend!

Sumi : I am sorry to hear about your relative, I faced that issue when I first started out. It's good that you're optimistic and my best wishes! I have attached a picture of my invite here
happy.gif

Rajni : You can try JB, if you don't mind the hassle of travelling. The famous one is Parvathi printers at Jalan Trus. My friend got hers done at about SGD0.70 per invite and it was quite pretty. Only problem is that if you're picky about minute details you might have to edit quite a bit before okay-ing it. Otherwise they're ok. Many of the invites I receive are printed there.

Went to Di Gio over the weekend to sign our pre-wedding package. got a pretty good deal as my bestie got it from them too and she came long for a fierce bargaining session.

We have decided to go with Sountrac* for the deco as Pandora was not getting back to me
sad.gif
then in the end, Sountrac* started to become more professional and took only 2 days to get back to me with the new quotation. *cross fingers that everything goes ok*

So almost everything is settled except all the reception admin, my HTB'S suit and wine suppliers! Any contacts anyone?

Kala: OMG THAT IS THE CUTEST INVITE EVER! Okay was very excited so please excuse the caps
happy.gif
So cute and i think i sorta know who you are now! I used to know Vik and Malini from IRC days
happy.gif
Did you painstakingly create each and every invite!? Amazing and well done!
happy.gif

Wine suppliers wise, there's one in my ofc building - I can get you the contact.

And thanks guys for the well wishes!

hehe yes yes it's that Vik! Malz is vik's bestie and she was the one who introduced us. Thanks for the compliments! Yup my family and I spent one entire weekend cutting out the circles (cuz we printed like 12 circles in one A1 sheet), pasting on the ice-cream sticks and placing the ribbon. Time-consuming but worth every second! Just very in love with it and everyone who has received it are also in love with it hehe.

Will wait for your wine contact, thanks!

Hi Rajni, thanks for your reply. Actually saw a doctor over the weekend. He isn't a dermatologist but seems to know he's stuff. Apparently was a surgeon before so might get him to remove my lipoma for me too!

Oooo speaking of lists - Ive found my dream bridezilla excel. Take a look!

I added this in Google Docs and added my bridal party to the group for planning

Anyone has previously experienced a wedding at the landmark hotel? I am interested in having a pool side wedding and the caterer will be Riverwalk Tandoor...any reviews or feedback?

Hi Rajni

I attended a wedding at Riverwalk before, it was supposed to be poolside but it rained that day so we were all put in this small function room + the sheltered tables outside. Was a little chaotic and the stage and all were wet - quite sad. I think there wasn't really a backup plan. Maybe you can enquire more on the wet weather plan.

As for decor, I am still keeping mine for my traditional wedding in nov. You can try using non-traditional stuff like tea-light candles and use peacock feathers as base. would really look nice and elegant (and cheap).

Sumi : thanks so much! It went on so so well and everyone had a really good time. can't wait for the pics and videos to be out
happy.gif

Kala: Cant wait for your pics
happy.gif
The backdrop and all looked awesome
happy.gif

Anyways, our ROM is definately being postponed to March-April 2013
sad.gif
But I guess its for the best (Trying to be all optimistic and positive
happy.gif
hehe..

At first I was like..Yay,I have more time to plan but then I realised..My ROM is in March-April and my trad+wedding dinner in Dec! *gulps*

How's everyone else doing?

Hey Sumi
happy.gif
I see that your trying to keep this thread going..heee.....I have been busy visiting sites and trying to lose some weight...haha...

I will be heading down to serangoon country club to visit the area...apparently they allow for the indian traditional ceremony to be held within their premises...

I am thinking of performing my ROM n traditional ceremony all at one go (*to save cost)....

Hi ladies.. im pretty new here.. sourcing for a good place for my pre wedding bridal shoot ... any recommendation.. Not venus thou..tks
happy.gif

Rajni: Hehe yes i am! I think its a good place for Indian BTBs to share ideas and vent (very impt!)
happy.gif

How are you going abt trying to lose weight? Im on that uphill task as well - Got myself a personal trainer plus Im going for Zumba classes with my colleagues

Lily: Are you looking for Singapore or Malaysia bridal studios? Am curious why you arent for Venus.Do tell!
happy.gif

Sumi : im looking at malaysia bridal. it seem most of the brides i noe are doing it there.. and e pictures look so common.. mayb i could want to try others instead.. however venus still receive great reviews..
happy.gif

Hmmm...just to share an unconventional idea. I will be going to Thailand for a holiday and might source around for a bridal company to have a shoot there instead (*thinking it may be cheaper in baht). We also discovered that we may be buying our wedding favors from Bangkok too. Will do some research first before informing you guys
happy.gif
I will be heading down in Oct.

Hi all,

How's everybody doing? I took a hiatus from wedding stuff after my ROM but guess it's time to get back to work for the traditional wedding. About 4 months and week or so to go! AHHHHH!

Sumi : Actually your gap between the ROM and the traditional wedding is not that bad. Best not to be too long so the momentum is there
happy.gif

Rajni : I heard SG CC's advert on OLI96.8 fm so looks like they are really targeting the Indian crowd. Good luck with the Bangkok trip. We also considered that but I think the weight of the luggage and the hassle of bringing everything over kinda put us off. Have fun though, Bkk is one of my fav cities!!

Lily : Mine is D'gio bridal. But not too sure abt Malaysian ones, sorry!

Hi brides-to-be,
Anyone still looking for their perfect wedding outfit ? I have a beautiful full embroided SEASONS lengha for sale. Worn only once. Dry cleaned and kept. In pristine condition. Do leave a MSG if keen n I'll forward the pictures to ya. Or you can email me at [email protected]
Thnx

Hey ya girls, sorry I have been away
happy.gif
was busy in Brisbane last week. I went down to SGCC and my parents and FH loved the place, so we payed the deposit for it. It is pretty much a comprehensive package, I think. I had to book it early to enjoy a great discount of 3k (my wedding date is on 19th Oct 2013).

Hi all! Work has consumed me completely! Sighs. Anyways as of today, I have exactly 3 months to my big day!! And I don't even know what I have to do!

Next weekend is my photoshoot with Digio. So far, I can only think of gardens by the bay as one of my outdoor locations. Any suggestions for other locations? I think I'd like sth more colourful fun and playful..

Also girls, has anyone tried saheli for traditional Indian hairdo? I really loved her makeup on me for my ROM but nt very confident about the hair.

Lastly, does anyone have any recommendations for places to dye/highlight curly hair?

Thanks all, and happy planning!

Hi all!! Been busy with work - Was in Tokyo this week for work and totally blew my diet with all the yummy food!! Hehe..Fingers crossed we have a new ROM date set for April next year! Just waiting to confirm if my videographers are available and we're good to go!

Kala: Ooo Gardens is beautiful! How about Changi Boardwalk, Botanical gardens, Haji Lane? Hair dye wise, I head to Vincent Daniels in Bukit Batok for all my hair needs and they deliver every single time
happy.gif

Rajni: Hope it works out with Keshav!!

Exciting times ahead ladies!
