Indian wedding Services in Singapore

Kala: I saw couples doing a photo-shoot near the marina bay skyline, not too sure if you wanna see the pictures...if you do let me know, I will pull it off her fb
happy.gif

By the way abt Saheli, I was seriously considering them for my bridal needs but I was shocked when I received feedback from my friends. Not only did they replace the altered bridal lengha zip with hooks (apparently the hook broke - but no one told the bride) and my friend also was shocked that the make up artist just left and allowed her make up assistant to "hold the fort".

It was pretty devastating to hear that because there isn't a variety of Indian bridal stuff that we can choose from, perhaps it is just a random happening...I am not too sure either.....But do tread with caution
happy.gif

All the best!

Hi there...

Recently We have alot of company using our company name to do their business..

Hi all! Hope everyone's planning has been going on awesomely! Ive finally locked down dates and venues for both my ROM, traditional wedding and wedding dinner! Yay!

ROM and Engagement: Grassroots Club
Traditional Wedding: Sri Ruthra Kaliamman Temple @ Depot Road
Wedding Dinner: Singapore Swimming Club (Contract to be discussed and finalised this weekend! Fingers crossed!)

Also, my customised weddinng gown is ready! Excited!
happy.gif

Congrats Sumi! All sounds awesome! Good luck for the planning and holler if you need help!

We will be gg down to collect our invites at JB tmr! Then the saree buying will take place about 6 weeks before the wedding! Everything's slowly falling into place
happy.gif

Am having a problem with my temple decor though. My deco guy told me that the management of Tank Rd temple is not allowing any decor to be put up upstairs and most of downstairs, unless its by their resident guy, Guna. But i really don't like his work
sad.gif
Any other brides facing/faced this problem? Would appreciate some suggestions over what we can do, thx!
happy.gif

Congrats Sumi and Kala! Exciting times ahead...Nerve-racking too!! I love Singapore Swimming Club, the ambiance at night is pretty nice!

Hello ladies! firstly congrats to all brides to be and new wives
happy.gif

2013/2014 (ROM/trad) BTB here. i came here with many questions but so much has already been shared which have been immensely useful. my issues are with photography and ROM venues. we are not intending to have a reception so its only going to be an intimate (pfft ya right indian functions no matter how compressed the guestlist are nvr intimate!) ROM and of course a much larger scale temple ceremony.

did you ladies have seperate photographers for ur pre wedding photoshoot - ROM - traditional? or was it all the same company? and what is the 'acceptable' or standard rates for photographers?

Welcome Bhavani! And congrats
happy.gif

I agree on the guest list! My ROM guestlist has ballooned so much its not even funny anymore! Are you looking at hotel venues or halls, country clubs etc?

I decided to break my photography up - Pre ROM shoot at places that mean alot to us (Simple-r costumes, not the studio kind!) with Keshav. Keshav is also covering our engagement+ROM ceremony. For the actual wedding photoshoot, we will probably head to one of the studios in JB. I would also have Keshav cover our traditional wedding along with a more "Indian" photographer.

Different photographers charge differently - Some by hour and some by package price - It all depends on your needs and style! Shop around and email a bunch of them with your requirements. Its easier to compare then!
happy.gif

Thank you Sumi! my first choice is an outdoorsy setting though i haven't been actively searching
sad.gif
kinda overwhelmed with the amount of responsibilities that come with planning weddings but thank god this thread is here to help. hope to tie down a venue by Nov at least!

for a while i actually envisioned having an overseas (asian/european countries) pre wedding shoot but i have come to realize it's not even worth it. i mean who am i kidding, it looks pretty but hey that money can be better used for renovating our house. and i think this will stretch our budget to the limit. we will most likely be going to JB too, more affordable and very good pictures!

i've heard of keshav but haven't seen his portfolio. does he have one online? i found a photographer from Malaysia, Dhivager, whose trad wedding videography was what impressed me most. but we haven't settled anything yet as there is still time and much to compare. i hope to have 1 photographer cover all as it's easier and less complicated as well.

Ive always wanted an outdoorsy wedding as well but after looking into venues in SG, i came to the sad conclusion that its hard to have an Indian outdoor wedding, esp one of my size! Try Burkhill Hall at Botanical Gardens - It was my top pick before my guestlist exploded. Fort Gate is also very pretty!

Sometimes you can get get very good deals for overseas photoshoots - Esp if you share the photographer's fee with other couples. Some photographers have this promo on their websites so do have a look. You still have time!

Keshav's profile can be found here - http://shiftphoto.com/ Have a look!

Hi Lovelies..,
I'm a newbie here.
Just to share..
Just recently had my ROM cum Engagement @ SPAN JOMS on 7/7/12.
Deco was done by KM wedding services, service was gd. deco was superb.. lotsa gd compliments from the guests..
MUA was Susiee.. She did a gd job.. Comments received that was not loud enuf.. matte shades used..
Caterer was sakuntala, also awesome compliments from guests.. food was really scrumptious.
Photo/Videographer was done by Joy Photography.
Pics turned out well.. Had very gd comments of his service.. photographer was friendly n patient..
Cake by Selvni, was tasty too.. nice design too.
DJ was one of my fren.. was gd..
But only the Host(don wanna mention name) was not to my expectations.. Had alot of bad comments on him.
sad.gif

Everything on my event went well except for the host!

Well.., Next big step is my Traditional..
My wedding date has been fixed in Sept 2013.
My venue is @ South Bridge Mariamman Temple, will held in the morning.
I've also fixed my MUA - Selvarani(jurong)
I've still yet to source for caterers, deco services, invitation cards, door gifts, photographers & videographers.
Any Recommendations for all above??

P/S: Sorry for being to long winded.. heheeee..

Ammu: Congratulations on your recent ROM!! Glad everything went well!
happy.gif

I love Mariamman temple! It really is my favourite temple but unfortunately its too small for my guest list
sad.gif
Caterers - Anandha Bhavan? Gokul? Im still deciding on mine as well.

Invitation cards - You can look for printers in JB or India even. I believe its much cheaper

Deco Svcs - Are you considering KM again? Else, the others in the running are Pandora, Soundtracx etc

Videographers - Im using Beyond Pictures for my ROM. I like their style of videography. Else you can search for a whole list of videographers on the SG brides main website.

Hope that helps!

happy.gif

Hey thanks Sumi..😉
I think have komala's also right? I'll c the packages for either komala's or gokul n then will decide..
Actually, unfortunately, my date was booked for tank rd temple which I really wanted to accommodate to my guest list!
In one day tried calling n went down to other big temples.. Couldn't get due to my event is during festive period!
Then luckily I got Mariamman temple n jus book it!
As for invitation have to source for in jb.. Not yet decided if wanna spent more to travel to India as I'm also getting my BTO flat next year.. Need to save $$$ alot...!!!!

Deco- I wanna try others.. Both of them in my list.. Will check for thier package n then will decide..
Beyond pictures have photography too?
Never heard of them.. Will check them out soon!

Well thank u so much on ur infos! ☺

Hi all! Been so long! How's everyone??
Welcome on board Bavani and Ammu!

I think the common question you guys have is about PG/VG. For my ROM, I took Renatus. They're quite new in terms of weddings and ESP Indian ones, but we decided to take a chance and they did a great job for our ROM! We are also taking them for our temple wedding. If anyone needs samples, just lemme know. I'm also engaging a freelancer - Darren Francis. Love his photos and I would need 2 photographers cuz of the huge crowd I'm expecting. So decided to get 2 diff PGs so I get variety of photos.

For deco, I am taking Sountracx. They're really gd in terms of quality but there needs to be chasing for quotations, meetings etc. quite tiring la

For invites I went to JB - Maniam printers. Def way cheaper than Singapore and their service is really very good! I finally collected them a couple of weeks ago and very satisfied with the outcome!

For locations, initially i wanted an outdoorsy ROM too but with Singapore's unpredictable weather, a tentage is a must and it blew our budget right out of the window! But here are some choices we came across when we were looking - Blue sky @ Gardenasia (super ulu but very magical and un-Singapore like feel), Chinese and Japanese gardens, Botanic gardens, Fort canning, Emily hill, Labrador park, Spa Boutique @ Nassim rd, Alkaff mansion, Sentosa beaches and Hort park.

For MUA, I have engaged Selvarani too! Small world!

Caterers we are engaging Komalas. We had a lot of good reviews from friends, gd service plus they offered us reasonable pricing with good variety. AB & Gokul were too ex for me!

My pre-wedding PS was done with Digio bridal and we just selected the photos last week! Can't wait to see the final product!

Now am so busy with my house! Reno has been gg on for almost 2 mths and is only about 65% complete and we are getting married in less than 2 mths! Headache!!

Happy planning brides!

Ammu: Yesh Komala's is another option! I havent even started on the planning for the trad wedding yet! Concentrating on the ROM+Engagement. Where did you get your BTO! I'll only get keys to mine in 2014!

Beyond pictures - Yes they do photography as well. But they are new to the Indian wedding scene but i do like their work!

Kala: You seem to have everything settled! Good on ya! Darren Francis has an impressive portfolio - Did he give you a good package?

Sumi : I engaged him last year so I got him at 2011 price..which was actually quite cheap. Since it's just 1 day, he charged me per hour. It was less than $200 per hour for sure
happy.gif

Hi ladies. It's great that you guys were able to secure your BTO just in time for your weddings!

It's rather late for me now to apply for BTO as the houses will only be ready in 2017 according to HDB website and we are planning for a 2014 wedding. Only resale or SOBF option remains =\

ey y'all...Just an update. My ROM is just 17 days away. Can't describe the feeling..lol..Seriously not prepared for it. Its gonna be held in a small dining room at Carousel. I opted for something intimate and small. Didnt want it to be a grand affair.
On the bright side my traditional wedding has been fixed next year at SGCC.
Also got my new place - but TOP only in June 2015...damn!!! I think i am more excited about my new place rather than the wedding...hahaha...hope u girls are all doing good!!!

New Brides: Welcome to the forum and happy planning!!!

Kala: Good luck!! You can do this! lol...Everything is finally falling into pieces...

Raj: Omg so exciting! 17 days! And SGCC is gorgeous, abit sad that they didnt have availability for my date next year! But i do love SSC! My new place will also only be ready in end 2014/early 2015! Punggol! Its gonna be an experience for both of us as we both stay in Jurong now! And I am truly excited for our new place - Even started buying small items!

Bhavani: I applied for my BTO last year and was quite lucky getting a 2 digit q number! And yes, we still have to live with our in-laws for about a year before we get our keys! Did you apply for the recent SOBF?

Raj: hahaha awesome! I don't think anyone is ever really prepared for the overwhelming emotions you are going to experience on your big day! Best of luck, hoping all goes well for you!

Sumi: Lucky you got 2 digit! If I applied for BTO now I'd only get it in 2017 or earliest 2016 but that would mean 2-3 years of living with in laws and we don't want to do that. 1 year would have been fine but more then that wouldn't be very nice of us in our opinion. Yes we did apply for the SOBF, hoping for good news!
happy.gif

Hi Kala... Thanks for sharing ur infos.., n am sure 2 months will passed by tooooo damn fast.. Advance wishes to u babe!
And, yeah pls send Me some sample to my email add: [email protected]
Can I also have Maniam Printers contact details..?
I've done my PS at JB Venus!! Had an awesome experience n was fun.. Albums turned out well..;)
Oh ya n ur renovations done by? For how many rm flat?

Sumi- hi dear.. My BTO is at Sembawang..near to my hubby's place.. I'm putting up at Jurong now.. It's gonna b a new environment for me too.. Suppose to get keys early 2014 but by the look of it.. It's almost done.. Might expect to get by end of next year..;) And I was so surprised n happy to get no.12 as my que no..

Hi Raj.., wish u all the best for ur ROM..feeling of being Mrs is really awesome..;) Enjoy every moments dear..;)

By the way, tdy till sun, there's wedding shopping n galleria at expo hall.. Also have home talks..(not sure if it's for Reno?)
Anybody know more details?? Thought of dropping by this sun!

Have an awesome weekends dearies....;)

Hi Ammu, I googled the event and by the looks of it, seems to be more catered to Malay/Muslim couples. I could be mistaken. But no harm dropping by to get some inspiration. Let us know if you did go and what you found out!
happy.gif

Sumi: Guess what!!! I will most prolly be staying with my mother in law too!!! haha...My new place will be at Sengkang
happy.gif
Am currently residing in Serangoon next to the huge mall NEX (parents place). I think you will like Punggol. It has been reported, that there is a larger proportion of younger couples living in the vicinity...hee...You started buying small items..lol..super cute...better find storage liao!! Will let you know how SGCC goes. The manager has been pretty sweet. TO brush our fears aside, he asked us to drop by on 30th Nov to view how they set up the hall for the indian wedding. Will take pics and post it up
happy.gif

Bhavani: Crossing fingers, hope things pull through!! I hope things work out on your side...I guess I was lucky :P Honestly, the pain comes when you start paying for the place!!!! Arrgh....

Ammu: Yups i saw the AD on the wedding expo. I guess there maybe things like henna and stuff for indian brides...

Bhavani: Yeap we didnt want to stay longer than a year - That's why we pushed our wedding to 2013!
happy.gif

Ammu: Yeap HDB is pretty fast! I heard about the expo but yeah it does seem catered to more Malay/Muslim couples. But they do have good deco ppl! No harm taking a look!

Raj: Oooo Sengkang! We are almost neighbours!
happy.gif
Yeah my BTO (Waterway Ridges) even has a FB page, so we have been getting updates on the development of the project from that site and getting to know our future neighbours! And storage space for our stuff=my fiance's house coz I have NO space at all! Haha.. Yes do let us know how SGCC goes!

As for my updates, we're going to book and pay for the temple hall this sat! Yay! And my wedding party is meeting to talk through the ROM programme and ideas for our ROM photoshoot!

Hi girls! So exciting to see this thread alive! hahah

Ammu : you've got mail! My renovation is done by this contracter la, we call him Uncle Neo. He is like a family contractor, did for my uncle, then another uncle, then my sis, my parents and now me! LOL. he is good but v slow so need to rush him. I bought a resale maisonette. COV was low and we grabbed it as neither of our parents' place has space to accomodate us so we HAD to find a place. Mine is in Jurong and my HTB is curretly at Boon keng while I am at clementi, so he is going to find it a new experience!

Raj : Congrats dear!! Everything will go awesome and I hope you have a blast of a time. Don't sweat the small stuff - just enjoy the night! and yes your manager is really sweet! I am sure SGCC will be gorgeous and your intimate affair at Carousel will be great
happy.gif

Sumi : I know what you mean, i started buying stuff the moment we confirmed the deal. And now it's all piling up at my parents' place as we wait for reno to complete. Your wedding planning seems to be on the ball! Have fun and keep updating us
happy.gif

Bavani : good luck for the SOBF ballot results! I applied for that early this year but couldn't get it
sad.gif
so we started looking for resale flats.

Hi.. Bhavani/raj/sumi..
Yeap when I googled also saw all Malay affairs.. But Saheli will be there for Indian brides! So wanna c if there's any gd deals to grab.. Lolx.. Will update u all if I drop by..

Kala: hey thanks once again for sharing on the Renatus Photography..
happy.gif

Ohhh family contractor.. Do also share ur some pics of it k..;)
And ya.. This forum is cool with full of infos..;)

Thank u all..!

Renovation

Happy googling.. 😜

Raj: It would be fun! A BTB meetup!
happy.gif

Ammu: WOW! $350!! *gulps* I will most probably do my henna with Sutha from SJ Henna Designs.. I like her work!!

hi ladies! this chat has been really helpful and informative so i thought i'd share a bit about my experience. i'm relatively new, just choped the dates like 2 week ago. i'm having a sikh wedding in aug 2013 and my engagement/ROM will be in march 2013. all quite rushed, but i think i can make it... ;) also going to india for wedding shopping in feb.

so far i've booked: sarah chaudhary as my MUA (she's a personal friend.
happy.gif
) i considered some malaysian PG/VG for both my march and aug events. i'm considering mona or malini for my henna as well.

There's this guy in JB, Sukh's photography that does a decent job for a very very good price. do check that out for girls who are on a budget! i checked with a friend of mine that had him and she said he was great! also will be getting stereotwo productions for my VG for the aug wedding.

still sourcing for a cheap and good guy to do my VG in march. i will be confirming sukh as my PG for my aug wedding once i see the work he does in march.

btw, kala i LOVE your invites and might consider that as well!!! how did you ever cut such perfect circles!

still sourcing for innovative ideas for invites, entrance into the wedding and decor/colour themes. my themes are so haywire right now. :P

Hi everybody! How's the planning coming along? Ive FINALLY settled on a date for my ROM photoshoot - Now I just have to finalise the outfits, locations and props! I love putting together mood boards for different things and there are tons of ideas on Pinterest
happy.gif

Nimrta: Welcome! Themes are so hard to lock down.. I am personally deciding btw 2 themes at the moment as well.. Where will ur ROM venue be?

Nimrta: Care to share the email contact - I have trouble finding him online :P I am considering all options in sourcing for a photographer for a pre-wedding shoot. I like Keshav so far and he's on top of my list. The decorators for my wedding will be soundtrax decor only because it was am package that I signed up with at SGCC. They have pretty decorative ideas
happy.gif

Sumi: I am done with my ROM. Am looking forward to plan the traditional wedding for next year in October. I have a good 12 months...lol..So I am gonna be super auntie and shop around first. Hope everything is good with you.

Rajni: Congrats!!! How was your ROM!
happy.gif
Haha my traditional and dinner is in in Dec next year so I THINK i have alot of time..But seeing how this year just swooped past, Im getting nervous! I think as long as you have all the big ticket items down, like venue and catering, the rest will fall in place!

Sumi: ROM was pretty intimate with both our parents and immediate siblings involved. It was held in a private dining area in Carousel at Royal Plaza.

Yea, this year was a breeze. Wondered what happened to the time?! So many things happened. I bought a place at Sengkang and I think I am more excited about getting a place rather than getting hitched!! haha

I concur with you. I think it is less of a headache once you have decided on your venue and caterer. I also think it makes sense to see if that venue is a 'one-stop shop'.

Not too sure if I asked you this but will you be buying your own bridal costume or will you be renting them out?

Rajni: I am so excited for my new place too! Cant wait to get our keys!

I custom made my bridal gown with L* Vit* Brides (Replace * with a) - Which i will be wearing for the ROM ceremony in April. Angela is very patient and awesome with suggestions! She also does evening gowns etc. As for my lenghas and sarees for all events, I should be purchasing them during my trip to India next year!

Hi guys! Been busy with your planning?

As for me, it just hit me that my ROM is in less than 6 mths! ZOMG! Im still stuck on my theme, havent gone for my dress fitting, havent booked my caterers (!!!)..STRESSED! Thankfully its end year and things are winding down at work so I will have more time to sort everything out soon!

happy.gif

Hugs SUMI....you will be a MRS soon..lol..So nice, you gg to india. Are you expecting the prices there to be cheaper or will your cost break even? I have been deliberating for the longest time ever if i should head down to India to get my lenghas but i am not too sure if the costs outweigh my logic reasoning...haha...do let me know how it goes k
happy.gif
n do let me know ur two cents worth
happy.gif

Hi Rajni, I dunno about the prices but I know the range will be much much MUCH wider and better! Hehe My in laws are avid India goers so they know of the best places to go!!
happy.gif
But I will prob only go after the ROM since my engagement+ROM outfits are settled!

Hello!

New to the forum & decided to join cause I'm now a tad worried now cause my trad wedding is in 4 mths+ and so far we only have the wedding hall, priest & my wedding saree confirmed.

Our parents are going to be settling the food, logistics etc, etc. So my job is to get myself a MUA/Hair/Saree/Henna person(s) & a Videographer.

Anyone have any recommendations?

Thanks!
happy.gif

Hi all! How's everyone doing??

Nirmta : thanks dear! Had loads of help from cousins and friends! We just sat everyone down and got them cutting hehe.

Sumi : you can do it! 6 months is still some time away so I am sure you will be able to handle it!

Anyway, my trad wedding is in about 3 weeks!!!! AHHHHH!!! We have yet to settle door gifts, wedding car and yet to finalise the deco details..am gg maadddddd! Then there's all the tiny details like mani/pedi, waxing, collecting our pre-wedding photographs etc that is taking up so much time! I really dunno if I am going to be able to finish it alll..and to top it off, we have our house-warming prayers this Sunday and there's soooo many things to do for that..

Good news is that the house is almost done! wheeeee and we are loving what we are seeing so far
happy.gif
)

VishaS : Welcome! Here are the vendors I got
happy.gif

MUA : Saheli (ROM) Seemren Minasky (Bangle ceremony) Selvarani (Trad wedding)
Henna : my cousin is doing for me, bt the more famous ones are Saheli and Saras Reena and Selvi
Videographer : I am using Renatus

Happy planning!
happy.gif

Hi Kala! Thanks for the info
happy.gif
How do I contact Selvarani & does she have an online portfolio? I've already sent Renatus a query for videography
happy.gif

Just to get an idea - what's the price range typically for a cinematic style wedding video? And has anyone here used stereotwo productions, a cinematic story or gorilla pictures?

I'm also considering Ananthy for makeup / hairdo / saree - anyone has experience with her?

Thanks!
happy.gif

Kala: How exciting for you!! Im sure you will get everything done in time!

VishaS: Congratulations and welcome to the club! Im getting Ananthy as well for my ROM+Traditional+Dinner..Sung is doing my photoshoot makeup! Both ladies do awesome work!
happy.gif
Videographers - Im using Beyond Pictures for the ROM. I havent figured out who to use for my trad+dinner.

Hi all!

VishaS : Selvarani doesn't really have an online portfolio, hers is more of word of mouth. I have to let you know though, her makeup is not really those modern WOW sort like Sungstar or Sarah but she has the complete package like saree tying an hair - and she's reallyyyyy good at the latter 2! You can contact her at 9794 1159.

Usually those cinematic videography range from about $200++ & above. Usually cheaper to get together with videography..

Sumi : thanks! I hope so too!

Sumi : Sung did my ROM+Photoshoot makeup and I loved it and initially wanted to get her to do my traditional! But quite a few people commented that I looked "yellow" and plus she doesn't do hair & saree tying so I'll have to get a separate person for that. Which is why I'm now considering Ananthy
happy.gif

For photos I used a freelancer for the ROM & Photoshoot and I'm going to use him again for the Bangle Ceremony & Traditional. I'm going down to meet with A Cinematic Story tonight - so I'll update on that tomorrow
happy.gif

Kala : If i get Sung to do my makeup, any idea if Selvarani will be able to do hair & saree tying? For hair does she only do the fully flower (Rakkodi?) type?

So far the price range I've been quoted is between $1250 for 5hrs to $2300 for a full day. Weddings are such expensive affairs!
sad.gif

hi rajni, here's the facebook link to my photographer. really nice guy!

https://www.facebook.com/sukhsdotcom?ref=ts&fref=ts

there's also another chinese photographer iivoke that's pretty cheap as well. here's his fb link!

https://www.facebook.com/iivoke?ref=ts&fref=ts

i'm all about value for money! hahahaha!

also found this person online to do wedding invites... i'm not sure what the price is like but seems pretty good so far.

https://www.facebook.com/celebratingjoy

i think i mostly have settled on nuss guild house for my rom and maybe singapore swimming club or raffles town club for recep... whichever gives the best package!

visha, you wanna consider sarah chaudhary? she does it all and she gets someone else to do your hair so it's more professional. pretty affordable too!

Jaggubobs: Thanks a million
happy.gif
will go check them out!

Kala: Hang in there and enjoy the process. It will be awesome and I am pretty sure that you will look like an amazing bride
happy.gif

Vishas: I can share with you my cousin's video. I think it was done pretty well. If you would like to see it, just leave me your email addy
happy.gif
I have heard good things about leonard han too. You might want to check him out.

Jaggubobs: I'm not really a fan of Sarah Chaudhary's - tried to get her for my ROM but she was very standoffish and didn't seem very keen to answer my queries
sad.gif
But thanks for the suggestion anyways
happy.gif

Rajni: Your cousin's video was done by Stereotwo? My email address is [email protected] Thanks for offering to send me the video
happy.gif
I've already tried contacting Leonard Hon! But he hasn't gotten back to me yet. HAHA.

In other news, I met up with George from "A Cinematic Story" yesterday - their work is pretty good (though not as good as Leonard Hon, or Stereotwo or Substance Films) and their price seems reasonable. Best part is that they were very accommodating and willing to explain patiently when I had queries. If I can't negotiate a good deal with the others I'll prob fix them
happy.gif
Those of you without a VG yet can also drop them a line
