Grand Hyatt Singapore

circusbugs,

Mine wedding was in Nov 04.

The sound syst was bad for my wedding too.. in Nov last year. They had an afternoon event in the ballroom, and it was only abt 5+pm that they tested out the interfacing of their sound system with the laptop... changed to another laptop, still the same prob. It was pretty bad.. a lot of spikes, and no one could really hear the first video shows, Changed the connectors, it was still bad.. For mine, lighting for the 1st march in wasn't controlled properly too (suppose to dim the lights, but it was quite bright when we walk in)

Other than that, the whole experience with the hotel is very good! We liked the professionalism of the wedding coordinator, and the bridal suite!

grekgal

not sure wat happen.... guests commented that my hubby's thank you speech cannot be heard clearly...

happy.gif

we used the Sir Stamford room, but my cousin is getting married at the Hibiscus room this Sunday if u want to have a peek (black theme as well).

hi Bigtoes!

Your cousin getting married this sunday? 13 march? I also using that Room for my wedding banquet this Sunday.. hehe but i am using it in the afternoon. not black theme tho'

Hi Daphne,

I love Hibiscus room the moment i step in.. hehe maybe because it got its own foyer. its really up to individual on what room they want. also got to see how many tables u wan.

Hi circusbugs and bigtoes

i am considering Hyatt for my wedding in 2006. Could you share with me your pictures please?

Btw, could you gals pls kindly advice me on the min-max tables for this venue? Are there a few ballrooms to choose from? Any comments on the food?

Thanx alot

Janey - congrats on ur on coming nuptials this Sunday
happy.gif
Yes, cousin's wedding is on the same day & venue, at 7pm.
Winterwhite - email to send pix to? On the max/min tables, best you check with the wedding coordinators. Hyatt has a couple of ball rooms, think they can accomodate <20 to 50 tables.

Hi all,

i am new to this forum! but i have signed up w GH for my dinner in december. my previous coordinator cynthia has left, and she has "pass" me over to Gary. wonder anyone here has experience working with Gary before? care to comment.

Hi Hazel,

Mine is in Dec too. Yup I was also passed to Gary. Cynthia did not leave, she is transferred to handling other things, just not weddings.

Hi Karen!!

Long time no see!!!
Oh! you mean Cynthia is still with Hyatt??

Orrrrh... I thought she was leaving Hyatt. phew!
happy.gif
Lovely lady, she was such a great help! I dropped her an email but didn't hear from her.

Hi Oraia!!

Cynthia's last day will be on 15th March if i am not wrong.. i am one of her last few client.. she is really a good coordinator.

Hi oraia,

I had a nice 9 min conversation with her last Tues. I asked her whether she was leaving, she said no...just that she will no longer be handling weddings. Maybe Promotion lor!!

Ya, seldom come in here as I am quite busy and there is nothing much to do until late April when I have to go for 1st appointment.

How's married life, hope everything is great!

lourdes

txs. i think Hyatt has 4-5 ballrooms. maybe u wanna make an appt to see their coordinator? he/she will give u a tour to their diff ballrooms.

lourdes & yukiee
just mailed u all...
Yukiee, we attended a wedding at the Hibiscus room last night, I personally prefer SSR...not as narrow & dark. Also, more centrally located, Hibiscus is at the end of a long corridor, more inaccessible.

Hi karen!
happy.gif

hehe, really ah? yay! glad to hear cynthia's not leaving. i had a missed call fr hyatt this aft on my hp, dunno whr it was her. hehe.

ur wedding is late this year? still haven't gone for 1st appt?
happy.gif
i've been really busy...

married life's ok...
happy.gif
alot of compromising, but all's good!

hi all...
just to add on to comments about "gxry", I was also "passed" on to him and I found him rather stiff and dogmatic in style. The whole meeting was rather clinical. Am thinking of requesting for a change in coordinator...=P

I was passed to Gary afer Anaji left in Dec 04. My wedding is coming up in Oct and I'm just really hoping for the best.I was told that Gary will be contacting me in Aug to finalise the details,I really hope it all turns out well.

hi,
can anyone post the direct email contact to any of the cordinators ? Wanted to find out more on the garden wedding..

hi all,

Does GH provide chair covers for all the chairs? I was looking at the previous posts made here, and it seem that you got to negotiate for the covers? basically I didn't negotiate for anything at all when i sign the package.
sad.gif

thanks for helping!

hey Hazel, i think all chair covers are provided. We took the black theme, so we did negotiate for an alternate gold organza sash tie back for the chairs at the non VIP tables as well. Good luck
happy.gif

anyone knows if i dont want the conventional gold theme and yet if my MIL is agst the black theme, can i customise own colours? any additional costs? I wld love to have purple or pinkish themes.

I HOPE THEY COME UP WITH NEW THEMES SOON.
sad.gif

HI genesis,

I think it is on your own cost if u wan to change color.Orginal is the off white color. The rest need to top up $$$. That is wat Andy told me. It is better tht u check with your coordinator
happy.gif

Cheers
Jamie

Thanks Limay for your info.

I hope they come up with the new themes and the cards SOON too! personally i don't like the two designs that they are having now. hehehe :P

Thanks jamie. How long in advance do i have to meet my coordinator prior to the actual wedding? wld the coordinator give us a ring or wld we have to call her up on our own initiative? Thanks!
happy.gif

Eveuloveme, i love the pun on your name.
happy.gif
i second your opinion about the cards. While the designs of the cards are rather acceptable, I feel there is room for improvement. Hopefully, Hyatt will be able to churn these out in time by the end of the year! *crosses fingers*

Hey gals, why dont u consider getting your own cards done up? More personal & its pretty cheap in Bras Basah...we did ours for $1.10 each (card, envelope & transparent inserts) & got Hyatt to switch the cards for another nite stay (total of 3 nites)
happy.gif
Well worth the money cos the hotel stay was quite abit more than the cost of the cards.

Hi Genesis,

According to my coordinator, he said he'll ring us up when there is a need to meet up to decide on certain things. So hopefully we r in their gd hands
happy.gif

U can also double check with ur coordinator
happy.gif

Cheers

Hi all,

wow so many hyatt brides. anyone has the experience of having a quartet? i tot of having one. would like some advice like when do i get the quartet to play. or any additional arrangement in stage set up?

genesisgalaxy: ehehe thanks for noticing the pun!

thanks!!

Karen - the shop is called iSuccess, its at the 3rd floor of Bras Basah...look for a Mr Ng. Just have the card in PDF format & they will do some test prints for you...a couple of months should be sufficient time.
happy.gif

Eveuloveme - my sis had a quartet for her wedding in Feb. They played from the beginning till before the wedding speeches...think she paid $1000 for 1+ hours.

Beez- didnt I mail u my pix before?

hi eveuloveme,

i had a string quartet too. they played for my cake cutting, and champagne pouring, and 2 sets of 45 min each, with a dinner break in-betw.
happy.gif

the stage is too small for the quartet - they were playing beside the stage on the left side.

hope this helps!

Thanks bigtoes!

I love your kua!! where did you get it done? You had 3 change of outfits!! wow! you must hv had a busy night
happy.gif

i like the black/gold combi, makes the red carpet really outstanding
happy.gif
can i ask which ballroom is this and how many tables does it cater to? am looking at 40 tables, any idea which room would be the right ballroom?

Ayane - thanks! The kua was provided by the bridal studio, was one of those one-size-fits all (huge!!) ones, with suspenders. Wore the kua when I went down earlier to mingle before the dinner started, so it wasn't too rushed actually.
The ballroom was the Sir Stamford room (fits 28 tables), u need to get the grand Ballroom for 40+. That room is darker thou, so the black theme maybe appear more gloomy.

Anyone know if the Hibiscus room's sound system is good?
I think it doesnt have a very nice spot to play video montage....
Any brides uses Hibiscus room before? Can share some comments?
I took this room & is now regretting alittle for not choosing SSR instead.
