Hi everyone,
I'm a recent ex-hyatt bride and my banquet was on a sunday at the Hibiscus ballrom. Here's some of my comments and personal advice. Hope it helps!
1) The food is really quite good. Well, that's according to my guests lah. They like the steamed prawns and the dessert! They commented that the prawns are very fresh and the mango pudding dessert extremely delicious! Oh yeah, the portion is good too.
2) I personally like hibiscus ballroom then SSR. I think the ceiling is a bit higher in HB than SSR. Also I also prefer the gold theme than the SSR greenish theme.
3) The sound systems at HB is quite good too at least to me.
It can play downloaded internet songs ( wave format) and the captain of the day can tune the sound system to get rid of some of the distortion from the cds. So, thumbs up for that! We did not rent the projector from Hyatt as our AD photographer provided that for us. So, if you're getting your projector from outside, do test out the connection and the laptop before the wedding.
4) It's true that there's not much selections for the flower arrangment. Some of the nice ones you have to top up money and we're not willing to do that. In the end, we chose the glass bowl with bronze wire and assorted orchids and it turned out quite classy.
For VIPs we chose the tall vase and dancing ladies flowers which was really a bad choice! It blocked our multimedia presention from certain angle in the ballroom.
5) Not too sure if there's a hiccups on my 1st march-in or what, the lightings were a bit too bright and also there's nothing special during the 1st dish being served. So, may be you all should check with ur coordinator on this.
6) Well, we got free flow of beer, free corkage of wine and some other freebies. I guess got all these because we booked the package during their promotion. We did negotiate for things like alternate sash, ribbons to tie on the napkins, etc and we got it! So, I guess it really depends on how flexible your coordinator is! Oh yeah, though we got free corkage of wine, we din bring in any because it's difficult to estimate how many cartons to buy. So in the end, we just bought them from hyatt. We got a carton from them and subsequently we were charged per bottle basis. We have 21 tables and only consume abt 26 bottles. We only served the wine when the dinner started. So i guess that's probably helped us saved! hehe..
Well, overall, I would say we're pretty satisfied with Hyatt!
