Goodwood Park Hotel

Hi. I heard from my friend that she attended a wedding at GWP and there was some bad stuff that occurred. I will try to find out more details and update.

hi, am new to the thread and arranging my AD in GWP end sept 06 from shanghai (cos i'm working here) am returning a week before to settle stuff but besides confirming menu, tables and flowers. any other more impt stuff i shld spk with GWP on? benedicte is nice but not very prompt with emails tho (took her one month to reply my questions haha)

oh an a suggestion for their cards. for the white ones u can try to print directly on the inserts and fasten them to the card by ribbon. mum did that for me and i was told it looks nice ......

hi ladies,

i had my wedding in June. Once again. if priscilla is handling your wedding, i think you are in safe hands. i had gone thru several changes of coordinator and she had straightened things out for me. look thru the previous threads. have fun preparing for AD. cheers

thks jen for your assurance and L.S. for your questions suggestion.

just wondering how many mths before do we need to liase with Priscilla regarding all the arrangements? till now, i have yet to hear from her

abit worried. also how early do we need to do the card printing?

thanks in advance!

my friend say to each his/her own; buyers beware.

Friend not keen to wash dirty linen in public but advice to you all is if you can do it early, do so and get it done.

Do not take things for granted for once it is over, it is OVER. You cannot turn back the clock. Forum say so and so is good, great wonderful... you may be the unlucky one to experience the unfortuante.

The banquet is but a component of the marriage.

Buyers Beware and Good Luck.

:-)

My friend also dun know what to say except that there were bad experiences throughout and the final took the cake.

But it is true; Buyers Beware.

Natianal Day celebrations also need to go rehearsal to ensure no hiccups but some idiot also used public funds and abused his authority to propose in public using the screens and his men.

If it is important enough and time allows, rehearse and go through dry runs to ensure everything is as expected.

hi foreverhappy

do it early..
3mths - to confirm/collect/print invitation cards
2mths - send invites, GDL etc
1mth - confirm banquent details/tables/etc

i think there is a checklist someone put up in the forum.. but, these are guidelines. for mi, there were some unfortunate circumstances from GWP, i'd kinda rushed thru the prep work in a mth. again, thankfully there is priscilla to straighten things out for me.

many thanks jen for your advice! they are indeed very helpful to me, at least i know that i must follow up with Priscilla 3 mths before my AD if she don't come back to me. just wondering do we need to print the invitation cards wordings by ourselves or GWP will provide? can't remember whether did jeanie mention to us previously or not. really sorry for asking so many questions :p

Hey brides and grooms of GWP,

Hmmm... If you feel uneasy at any point about your wedding arrangements, take matters into your own hands and steer the planning. But, then again, isn't that what we normally do when something important to us doesn't seem to go right? We try to do whatever we can to make it right??? What I'm trying to put across is this: Ultimately, this is your wedding. If it's important enough to you, make darn sure you minimize whatever that can go wrong. Make sure your coordinators know you're counting on them to help things go smoothly. And enjoy yourself in the process!

Hi foreverhappy8888,

You need to collect the cards from GWP, they can give you sample of the wordings for the inserts.
Alternatively, you can get the sample from Hi-tech (Ph:64589455).

hi moo and foreverhappy8888,

unless u have special request, hi-tech @AMK has a template. i had checked with a few printers. they seemed to be the cheapest. my encounter with hi-tech was pleasant. as i was oni 4 weeks from my AD, they managed to get my cards done in a week from the time i contacted them. please dun rush like me. give yourself ample time to minimise stress.

Hi Jen and LS,

signed with GWP's Victorian Package during their bridal show. do you girls have any dishes to recommend for the dinner?

If you do have any pics, do share with me please. my email is [email protected]

Jen- can you send me your contact for the printer (Hi-tech)

Thanks so much!

Thanks, Cookie Bunny!

Which wedding favour did you choose?

Quite sad, they do not have the english honey and tea leaves any more. Didn't like their current favours.
sad.gif

What!!!! They dont have the honey anymore?? I want the honey *wails*
sad.gif

I havent asked about the wedding favours since my wedding still few mths away. What do they have, dont tell me it's a pair of chopsticks or keychains?
sad.gif

To think that I was just 'boasting' to my friend that GWP wedding favour is different from other hotels...arghhhhh *knock myself to the wall*
sad.gif

Yes, they had changed it to a silver wedding bell and a silver heart shape memo holder. I do not find it impressive. Still prefer the English tea leaves and honey...

Cookie Bunny, I was also v disappointed that they had phased out that...

Yes, it is true that there is no more HONEY

What they have is only paper weight double up as photo clipper in the form of bells or heart shape.

Hi ladies...
It's sad to know GWP has stopped providing jars of honey as wedding favours! That's exactly what we had for our wedding. It was so 'English'... and very fitting for a hotel like Goodwood Park Hotel. I hope they don't tarnish the very image and atmosphere that made them stand apart from the other hotels in the first place.

Hi to all potential GWP brides:

Photos as in the environment is important when capturing the moments on camera.

From my understanding, at this point of time, GWP's internal organisation is not exactly comforting to allow ease of mind.

As in my previous mail, it is 'Buyers Beware' for whilst it is an experience itself in sourcing for the right place(that does not change), the people are very important. On people, you must find confort in the sales person and hope that all may be delivered within your expectations.

What you may control, control yourself and not hope that the contact person will not screw up.

The wedding is a once in a lifetime experience' for most of us and if on the actual day and in the final moments, a screwup occurs, you may only blame yourself for by then, even if the fault laid with the staff, THATS IT.

No second chance, no rerun, no replay, no encore.

'Buyers Beware' wherever you hold it.

You have been warned: Good Luck! And all the best; make the best of the situation and remain optimistic. :-)

Attended a fren's wedding there last year n liked the place. So for my own wedding,Goodwood was one of our top choices!

However,i called some hotels and all emailed me the package within 2 days except Goodwood...no sound no picture.

So i tried again last week, but AGAIN it happened!! Til today, they HAVE NOT email me the package. It makes me wonder,if they are not professional abt business before i sign on the dotted line...then wat more after i sign!

Grrr....i give up!!!!

Hi Moo,

Thanx for posting the pics of the favors, I think the bookmark is new...didnt see it when I asked for the pictures 2 weeks ago.
Hopefully they have nice guest book, the new white invitation card they have is quite nice, simple but the material used is quite good.
