Goodwood Park Hotel

dong dong,
Hi! My wedding was held at the Tudor Ballroom. We added 2 more elaborate flower stands on the stage to the 6 provided by the florist GWP used that evening. We had 20 tables and a dance floor. Not much room left after that. The ballroom was packed! Depending on how many guests you have, the flowers provided by GWP may be sufficient for your banquet if you're having it at the Tudor Ballroom.

Sharon,
I so sympathise with you and the other GWP brides-to-be. Floral matters do indeed MATTER. I met with the florist to discuss details of the arrangements months before my wedding banquet. At that time, GWP was using Florabel. The lady I spoke with, Bee Tin, was very proferssional and helpful. I chose between several possible centre pieces for the guests' tables and also for the VIP tables. One of the options was a bowl with floating candles and a few flowers, I believe. I didn't pick that though. Just a normal centre piece with a bowl containing a tealight candle in the middle of it. I also had the option of choosing the colours I wanted for my floral arrangements. I chose cream roses and purple eustoma with lavender caspere as a filler. No regrets! The room was lovely and our guests had a good time! Of course, the Tudor Ballroom is smaller than the new Windsor Ballroom and hence we did not need to worry about filling in the extra space. I do suggest this... Go speak to the florist personally. Once you reach out to them and convey your ideas and concerns to them, they'll be more willing to help to make your dream wedding become reality!

Good luck!

hi Sharon,
Yes, i signed on their wedding show package. Comparing some hotels packages to GWP, especially MM (Cos i was thinking of signing up with them earlier), MM every thing i asked also can!!! But the most scary part was when the Sales person told me the contract i will be signing is based on the standard package and whatevenr additional will be via email!!!! As for GWP, what ever Priscilla say can, it was stated in the contract. But frankly speaking, she did not give me most of the things i have requested, only extra 10 pcs of Invitation cards!!!! The rest, she all say NO upfront. But I must stress again, after having spoken to so many of them since early this year, Priscilla's professionalism is just too impressive.

bluekitty,
you may check with Jamie, is she passing u to Priscilla. If not den request for it.

But still keeping my finger cross that she will not just leave and I den i will have to go through the whole espisode of what you gals have been through.

Hi L.S.,

Thanks for your great advise. I will speak to their florist.

Hi BMW725,

Hmmm..what is MM? Which hotel? The other that i speak to was Swissotel..service is great too. I chose GWP becos of the ballroom size/shape. Looks like you are really impressed with Priscilla's service. My case is handled over to her too. I am going to make appointment with her to go through the contract next week. Ya...lets hope Priscilla will not like the rest.

I'm going to keep a positive mind over this whole issue. Better be a happy bride than a stressed out one.

Hi all

I'm new here. I was shocked after reading all these. I signed up GWP & French Bridal 2 months back, & now everything doesn't seems right. My HTB & I went to GWP last evening, true enough both ballrooms are not impressive. At 7pm, the waiters & some other staff were still doing their last minute setting-up.

Hi BMW725
When was the wedding show that you sign up the package? Is there any difference compared to normal package other than additional 10 pcs of invitation cards?

Hi Bluekitty
Signing up with FBS seems so smooth, whatever we asked for & whatever we didn't ask for, they were so willing to offer us. That was too good to be true. Nightmare only started when I've just chosen my gowns last month. Our agreement was MTM for both wedding & evening gowns. But when come to the day of selecting gowns, the staff insisted me to choose OTR, when my HTB wana MTM gowns, their faces seems unpleased. A lady at her 40s attended to me on how to go about doing my MTM gowns. Initially I thought she was one of the seamstress but ended up she was the designer. Omg, she was just a plain Jane & I've doubt about her being a designer. True enough, she showed me some foreign magazines with very exaggerating designs that I felt they don't suit Asian (or perhaps I'm more conservative & only want simple gown). She kept asking what do I want for my MTM gown & I really have no ideas what & how. I demanded to see her portfolio but she said those gowns in the bridal shops are their design w/out showing me any of her portfolio. I was thinking if I really know what I want, I ought to be a designer sitting in that shop, not her! Left me with no choice, I took OTR wedding gown & insisted a MTM evening gown with similar design to one of those OTR.

That was one thing we were pissed off. Another thing was the OTR wedding gown I've chosen, I couldn't wear it for outdoor photo shooting. I was forced to select a very very old, almost grey gown for my outdoor shooting. That really made me mad even until now when come to think about it. I've checked around with my friends & all of them could wear their gowns out for shooting whether it was MTM or OTR. I've yet to negotiate with them though. Lastly, they are also not transparent with many things I asked (eg. price of extra photos, portrait size prices, bridal car deco etc), the staff kept saying still early to talk about it. I've paid 80% after choosing the gown, I doubt they will come to terms with whatever future request we have. Good luck to you & be more persistence when your turn comes to choose gowns next month. Don't be another victim like me.

At this point of time, I really don't know how to proceed from here... Sigh...

Hi Michy, Both ballrooms setup yesterday were not impressive. But like what L.S. advise, we should speak to their florist...tell them what we want. Keep an open mind.

I heard my HTB colleagues recommended French Bridal.Your experience really scares me off but will still take a look though and have ur experience in mind.

Erm...dun think got such policy that the wedding gown chosen cant be worn for outdoor shoot. Then what is the point of having it? You should really make your stand clear to them. Customers are always right. Dun let them short change you yeah. Be a happy bride..

Hi Michy,

Some additional perks for those who sign up between 19 May-18 June include-
- Additional 30 litres of beer
- Complimentary 2nd night's stay in bridal suite
- Complimentary day room for your helpers
- $200 Livestudios voucher

Most hotels provide a 'day room' for helpers but GWP doesn't. Especially since GWP's bridal suite is small, a 'day room' will be useful.

bluekitty & Michy,

Do cross over to the 2 FB threads for more info & the sharing of experiences by other FB brides. I've posted my comments there too.

Hi all,
i agree with BMW725, Priscillia is good. She spent about two hours, clearing up the mess that the people had created over the past 4 months. She's very patient and understanding. after speaking to her, i feel so relieve. =)

as for the decoration of the ballroom, i guess its up to individual. i saw the set up for last saturday. i think it is ok. not too elaborate, nor too sparse. indeed, there were two roses in with the tea lights on the tables. well, i think there is a choice. afterall, this will be removed the minute the first course is served. when i was speaking to chris previously, there was not backdrop for teh stage. now, it is included. i think GWP is making some efforts.
there is only one thing that i am still not quiet please with. the wedding flavours. there's an alternative to the honey and tea leaves.. but.. haiz... i still opt for teh honey... hehe.
well, at least now, i can rest my mind. i believe my dinner will look presentable and it will run smoothly with priscillia's coordination.

Hi Sharon
Thank you for your advice, probably I've to be more positive, I wana be a happy bride afterall. Do confirm with your BS before you make the payment, otherwise future request will cause you problem.

Hi Vanessa / jen
Thanks for your info. My package did not include any of those you mentioned. Anyway I would have to see them (GWP) soon since Chris had resigned. Meanwhile just keep my fingers cross.
As for the flavours, GWP is the worst among few hotels I came across. Probably I would have to top-up $$ to get my ideal flavours if GWP is not going to change their flavours. I wana my dream wedding & not accommodate what GWP want/arrange for my wedding.

Hi Jen,

I'm very glad & relieved it's all working out well for you. Must've been real nerve wrecking since your AD's fast approaching! It's good to know GWP's putting some effort into making the situation better. I hope Pricilla stays. Btw, is she the only co-ordinator that's managing all wedding related matters?
Jen, may u have a truly great, lovely & memorable wedding

!!!!

Hi Jen & BMW725,

Thanks for the valuable info, I will request for Priscilla next time I need to contact them.
I havent gone down to GWP since Jeanie resigned.

For Jen,
Hope you have a memorable Wedding and a happy and everlasting Marriage!

Hi all

I am thinking of getting the mayfair pool for solemnization on the same day for the wedding dinner, but I am concern about wet weather, do I need to pay GWP if it rains, and I cant have the solemnization done outdoor?

Hi dongdong

I held my ROM at Mayfair pool early part of the mth. Really nice backdrop for fototaking u will like it i am sure
happy.gif
For my case, the co-ordinator assured me that once the sky turns overcast they will set up the sheltered area (canopy area) at the main pool for my solemnization. that's the backup plan, u get the shelter and the pool too. Heez. Can consider!

Hi RM

Does GWP charge you for the backup plan?

They have indicated that back up space come at a rate, dont think this is fair on the wedding couples.

dong dong,
Wow... Seems like GWP is charging for every little thing these days! Our wedding was planned for the Mayfair Pool. Then, on the very morning of our big day, it drizzled. So, it was moved to the Main Pool as it is sheltered. No additional charge. That's really inconsiderate of GWP to insist that you pay more for a backup plan! As if we are in control of the weather! What nonsense... Do speak to them about this at length. It is incredulous! So, if a couple doesn't fork out the additional amount, and it rains on the day of their wedding, will they have to get married in the rain?? You may want to bring this to their attention. So silly of GWP. Instead of appealling to couples, they will probably drive potential business away with their new rules and regulations!

Yup, dong dong..L.S is right they dun charge or it could be that my contract then was negotiated with Jeanie? I am not very sure. Luckily it was a warm day on my ROM day
happy.gif

i am not with GWP for my AD end of the year. seems like it's quite messy huh?

Hello! I've been following this forum closely cos I'm a GWP BTB. I recently signed a contract with them for Windsor + Mayfair on the day of the wedding show itself. Anyway, on the backup plan for Mayfair Pool, I think it shouldn't be a problem 'cos I've been assured many times that the shelter at the Main Pool will be reserved for wet weather.

dong dong,

I hope it all works out for you! Keeping my fingers crossed. The Mayfair Pool is lovely... Too bad the weather didn't cooperate the morning of our wedding! Oh well... In any case, we had a beautiful celebration by the Main Pool.

Hi all future GWP BTB, I think the GWP management should help all of you to resolve your issue. Feel sad to hear about it, as all of you paid for the wedding and still need to worry for the arrangement.

Hi lee,

Thanks for your kind thoughts. Are you considering GWP too? Perhaps some couples have given up trying to rectify certain issues with them already. Correspondence has been a challenge & simple requests aren't even considered. GWP's given me a feeling of neglect & that this important day of ours is of no significance to them
sad.gif
. Sorry for lamenting but am tired of having to worry about the banquet & the lack of co-ordination/communication. Wonder if it's this way with the other establishments as well. The GWP experience has been truly upsetting & disappointing. Now, the hope is that with yet another change of co-ordinator, things will improve.

Hello ladies...

I do hope your wedding will turn out to be a lovely celebration! Think positive!

Something I'd like to share... (after all, brides-to-be need a lot of pampering!)

Fingerwork (situation on Circular Road) is having a special promotion this month: $68 for an hour long full body massage, plus a body scrub! That's an excellent price for the wonderful service you get. Esp since they're located in the heart of our financial district - 5mins walk from the Raffles Place MRT Station. Wonderful ambience and great service too. Might want to check them out to help you unwind and relax... www.fingerwork4you.com

I enjoy all my visits there!

hihi, just wanna bring some new hope to all GWP BTBs(hopefully :p)

my hubby was quite worried abt the frequent HR changes and decided to email gwp to ask abt who our coordinator would be since jeanie left.

the very next morning, a ms benedicte liew (yes, it's a she) replied promptly thru phonecalls to both my hubby and i, which we missed, n she followed with voice msg n email. when i returned her call, she sounded very professional, sunny and polite and i felt some renewed confidence in gwp.
happy.gif
i really hope she is here to stay.

then my very-worried hubby emailed her again abt food-tasting. she again promptly replied abt how we could go abt arranging the session.

i dunno if this helps, but i think things r changing slowly but definitely for the better..

have faith and cross all our fingers.
happy.gif

hi hi, i agree with bamboo, cos my coordinator Priscilla is equally professional and promot (jen, think you agreed with me right). Not too sure have anyone else met up with Priscilla and experience the same thing but guess with all this changes, GWP is definitely living up to it.

Cheers to them.

Whoops!!
Made a boo-boo with my previous posting...
Visited Fingerwork yesterday and discovered that they charge $90 for an hr-long full body massage and full body scrub. tried the body scrub yesterday...heavenly.

Hi ladies, i finally met up with Priscilla and also signed the package with her last friday. She is very patient and she assured me that things are definitely picking up.

I asked her what happened next after i signed the contract, she said she will email set up a folder and email me a recap of what was spoken and agreed between us. So far, i have not received any emails from her. Perhaps she is busy...my wedding is still far away. So there is more time...no worries.

Hopefully what Priscilla said is true...

By the way, BMW725, i asked about the extra wedding invitation cards, Priscilla said not a problem. I can asked them nearer the date...and it wasnt stated in the contract. I hope she do not turned her words. FIngers crossed...I do not want to worry about so many things now.

Hi LS,

Need your big help, do you have a scanned copy of your invitation card? I'm thinking of ordering my invitation card from overseas and need a sample copy, if you dont mind can you email to [email protected].
Big Thanks!
happy.gif

Sharon,
Do you have Priscilla's email address?

cookiebunny,
Hi... Apologies, buit I don't have a softcopy of my invitation card anymore! Deleted it from my hard drive some months back. However, what you can do is to visit www.uptowndowntownshopping.com and click on 'wedding invitation cards'. This is the website we ordered our invitations from for our wedding last year. Numerous invitations await you! Plus, the fun part is, you get to choose your own wording and font style, then you can immediately see what it'll look like all put together! It's so much fun!! Had such an enjoyable time experimenting with all sorts of invitations last year before our wedding. You can also save the image on your computer and refer to it anytime you wish. I hope this proves helpful!

This is only a SAMPLE of an invitation card you can create on the above website. Please note that 'Tarzan and Jane' are not real and honestly, I really do not think any parent would bestow upon their child a name like 'Tarzan'. All in good fun, ya??

Hi cs_pair,

Thanks for the email add!
happy.gif

LS,
thanks for the tips! We're actually looking for sample with the Chinese wordings, do you think GoodwoodPark has sample to show to us?

Btw, how much did you pay for your wedding invitation cards? Do you know roughly how much does it cost if we just print the insert for the complimentary invitation cards from Goodwood?

Sorry to ask so many questions, I'm trying to compare the cost for the invitation cards. Thanks in advance for your help
happy.gif

cookiebunny,
No problem!
happy.gif
Always happy to help. We paid approx. $400 for 180 invitation cards and envelopes. Raised printing was included. Ordered from uptowndowntown.com and had it sent to friends living in the U.S. They in turn brought them to Singapore when they made a trip down to visit. Since we didn't require Chinese text, it made things a lot easier for us in terms of being able to choose the exact style/design that we loved.

I would think that the cost of printing inserts will depend on the kind of printing you choose and the number you require. Normal printing is the least costly. Then there's raised printing and hot stamping which will cost more. You may wish to check out printers located in Bras Basah Complex or find out more about other printers on this forum. Good Luck!!

hi all
yes! i agree with bmw725. Priscilla is great. everything that she had promised had been delivered. she had even made an effort to visit me in the bridal suite before the event commences to assure me that all is fine. two thumbs-up for priscilla!

sad.gif

hi gals,

i thought since i have about 5 months to AD, i emailed to Priscilla. I noted her email address in this forum you gals posted. I explained to her my situation and she promptly replied that very day. We both were very impressed. But good thing didnt last long. I wrote to her enquiring more details, and she has not got back to me. It has been a week. I am disappointed.

That's all I can say.
sad.gif

apple68,

I'm sorry. I do find it strange that an establishment as well known as GWP will allow such treatment of customers! In any case, perhaps Priscilla is swamped with work. You may wish to politely point out to them that you are displeased and that you do not wish to be unnecessarily stressed during this time. Any concerned coordinator will definitely take your comments into account and will improve on their service.

Do cheer up, ya?? Unwind with a glass of wine and maybe a massage at your favourite spa??
happy.gif

hi Lena
i have my dinner early in June.. however, my pictures arent out yet. will post once they are ready. my guests find the ballroom spacious and very nice with the stage unblock.

Hi gals,

Good news, Benedicte from Goodwood called me this morning. It seems Priscilla emailed me last week but somehow it was not delivered, so when I emailed her again last nite, she asked Benedicte(she's in-charged of my wedding) to contact me via phone to straighten things out...fiuh, what a relief!
happy.gif

Apple, you might want to email her again to 'chase'
happy.gif

LS,
Since you didnt take the GWP invitation cards, did they change it to other perks?

Hi all

Yes, cookie bunny is right. Benedicte called me too and had emailed me to inform me that she is the person in charge for my wedding.

Yeah! Hope there are no more changes at the moment.

Dear ladies, so sorry have been very caught up with work and has not been able to keep myself updated on what's happening.

Well, in general, I really think that, we as BTB should try and put ourselves in the coordinator shoes. We only know how to post our unhappiness or fustration on not being able to get reply or speaks to the coordinator. But on the other hand, have we been understanding enough. I am very sorry ladies, cos I am also in the service provider industries (one of the telecommunication provider)and i can truly understand what the coordinator are going through especially GWP. i believe due to the turn over, the exisitng coordinators must have been facing a lot of issues and I guess, they are not just handling 1 or 2 couples!!! I do agree sometime when I do not get an immediate reply from Priscilla (she is my coordinator) i get a little upset. But come to think of it, I am not the only couple she is assisting. To be frank, we are not in any position to question their service standard.

One important things which i thinks most of the BTB who have signed up with GWP will agree is that the service and responding time has been improved. Jen, guess you are the best person to share the experience as your wedding just ended not too long ago.

Very sorry ladies, i am just give my 2 cents worth of thoughts. No personnal feeling and also, maybe I have got a very very very bad day in office.

cookiebunny,

Well, we knew from the very brginning that we would not require the GWP invitation cards, so we tailored our banquet package accordingly. HINT: Ask for more of this and that (e.g. food sampling - increase the food portion to allow a full table of 10 to sample; spa treats at The Aspara... Be creative!!)

I have called Priscilla today at her office. Unfortunately she was not around, I left a message with Ann, leaving down my hp number. But Priscilla did not call back. I cannot access my email account now. Will send another email to her again.

I can understand that she is overloaded with work. But i certainly appreciate if she could just drop a quick note. At least, I know she received my email. Or call me back. Not just disappear on me.

sad.gif

Apple68 and cookbunny, i really empathise with you. but, let me share with u my terrible experience GWP while preparing for my dinner.
There were two changes of coordinators in the last two months leading to my dinner. for both occasions, i only found out about the change through this wonderful thread. thankfully, the third and final coordinator handling my dinner was priscilla. she took over my file ten days before my wedding. let me assure you ladies, even before i met up with her. We fixed the appt on thursady and she actually called me on friday to confirm my appointment. after talking to her on the very first meeting, most of the loose ends like menu, no. of tables, set-up etc were straigthened. in addition, she follows up with an email with updated details the next day. she is extremely efficient and meticulous as compared to the previous coordinators. i think this month is a popular month for weddings. maybe, she is really overloaded. i would suggest, u should continue with the emails or try sending her smses to her hp to reach her.

in addition to the communication issues, i think, the set up of the ballroom was also a concern to many couples.

if i m not wrong, GWP had changed florist already. i had mentioned in my previous post, the decorations were not extremely elaborate, but, the ballroom looked very decent.

Thanks Jen for the update

I just got a reply from Priscilla. She apologized for late reply.

Just an update on my enquiries for those interested

1. Exchange in lieu of wedding cards. GWP will not offer anything else if you not taking their wedding cards.
2. When I signed up GWP package, I was told by previous coordinator, there would be new range of colour for table cloths. Apparently, this was inaccurate. Priscilla confirm only Red, Peach and White table cloth are available.
3. She is trying to upload pictures of different ballroom set up. I really feel assured that she cares enough to make appointment with me to let me view the photos, if she fails to upload the photos.

I was given a florist address that was in Merchant Court. Is that not the florist GWP is using? Got to check with Priscilla again.

FYI, confirm with Priscilla, this is the assigned Florist
