nykolee >> It's a damn hot date! On the May 2011 thread, there are at least 5 other brides on this date. 22 May is also a hot date. I would have chosen 22 May to get married, but GWP was booked, so went for 2nd choice.

has anyone visited dreamweavers for their card designing so far? Care to share your experiences with them and if there are any additional cost incurred on top of the printing? I think this is for couples who sign up during the wedding show are given this extra perk.

hi coco,

i will be going to DW on 5th mar, do let me know what u want me to note apart from the additional cost incur apart from the standard printing.

Jacintha: yeah, it will be great if you can share your experience with me after meeting up with them. I do want to know if there are any hidden charges on top of the $1/card printing fees. Do we have a wide selection of cards to choose from and if we can keep a softcopy of the monogram designed by them. i'm planning to do a wishing tree though so i would like to print some cards with the monogram for people to write their wishes on.

nykolee >> Thanks! The clothes are nice! And not too ex too! I bought my retro polka dot dress in City Square yesterday when I went to print my invites. RM39.90 only!

Been busy with work, so I haven't visited this thread in a while.. Getting married in GWP on 4 Sept.. About 6 months left.. Time seems to pass by so fast.. Last year, my gf and I were still telling ourselves that we have 1 whole year to prepare for it and so we were just taking it easy =x

nykolee >> Hmm... I not really doing a completely retro shoot bah... just so happen my HTB's casual shirt is a retro looking one from Desigual, so I match him lor!
happy.gif

Hmm... to do retro, I think it's the locations bah, must go to "old school" locations. It helps if your photographer can do the "yellowed" look such that the photos look old. Can consider Colbar, the old school playgrounds (pelican, dragon etc), colonial bungalows etc.

Are you taking a one-stop BS or alacarte package? Who is your BS and your PG?

Hi Kass,

Haha i'm the bride that has the smae date as you but at tudor ballroom. Have been so busy with work, wedding prep and house.. haha

I'm having my food tasting, choosing of theme and collecting my wedding cards all on 7/3/11.. haha when you having yours??

I collected my wedding cards already... but won't be having my food tasting so soon, cuz I will be attending 2 other GWP weddings in the course of March, so wanna try other banquets and make comparisons first, then decide on my food tasting menu. Like that I won't have to try to same dishes again...

I always thought you are the groom, not the bride. LOL.

Hi Kass,

You did printing from JB and how much cheaper would that be?

Could anyone advise blur me? My coordinator doesn't seem to bother about my question when I asked via email
sad.gif

I would like to know when is the best time to start going down to GWP's florist? Same timing as choosing the theme? And for stationery, we must buy on our own or we can lent from florist or GWP will be able to provide it for solemnization & reception area?

Bella >> Yes, I printed in JB City Square TnT. Cost savings is actually quite a bit and service is very good and changes are made on the spot. If you dun mind travelling through CIQ, I certain recommend it.

You're adding more flowers?? Hmm... I think about 2-3 months before AD would be a good time. Make sure you have an idea of what is the theme that GWP is offering so that you dun pay for what is already included is the theme.

GWP will provide pens for solemnisation, but not for reception. The feather kind, as well as a ring pillow.

Thank you so much, Kass. Maybe will go check it out.

Actually,hmm.. at GWP when we say about theme, we are referring to the table cloth & seat covers selection am I right? My coordinator didn't talk about theme. Just say can choose what colour we want for table cloth & seat covers. I suppose it is the same.

Great! I just need to find stationery for reception. Don't know where can get cheap & nice stationery. Any recommendation?

I would like to have stress free wedding but kind of hard. Wedding banquet at GWP already kind of expensive but coordinator's service is not up to expectation. Kind of disappointed but no choice

Lucky still have this thread!
happy.gif

Bella, theme also includes you VIP table floral centerpiece, guest table centerpiece, reception centerpiece, aisle decoration and stage deco as well. What is your email address and who is your coordinator?? I hate it when you ask them question and they dun answer directly or don't even answer at all!!!

Hi everybody, i just went down to June florist last Sat to see what kind of floral set up we can choose from. For windsor ballroom, i think we have 3-4 themes to choose from but it looks all the same to me. Maybe i should put it this way, they have 3-4 decorations to choose from. Kinda disappointed with the design coz it looks empty for such a big stage in windsor. While at least the tudor ballroom stage decor looks better.

Hmm.. June is very busy, her appts are packed like sardine and she doesnt have a very gd attitude. Sorry i have to be honest. I wish i didnt had to work with her (not that she provoke me, but just didnt like her attitude) but i heard JM florist is worst.

If you wanan make an appt to meet up with June, give her at least 1 week notice by phone and not email. I think my decision to pass on the stage decor to someone else cld is a wise choice. I guess its also the budget GWP is giving to the florist for the entire ballroom decor.

Thanks Cocotintin for your heads up , in this case, I will book her in advance.

Hi Kass,
I also went down to see the setup for an actual wedding last sat, I thought the stairs with candlelights look romantic and the flower and colour sash (white rose and light pink sash) setup look elegant but I must admit that it is alittle dim.

There was some confusion for the guests – they mixed up and was unaware that there is another ballroom at end of the hotel. So I see guest walking around and asking for directions.

Kass, I went to select my wedding favours, invitation card and the free angbao box…
Originally I wanted the dark gold but was advised that old people might not like it.. so in the end I picked lilac (for card) and dark purple (ribbon).. dark brown for the wordings and my name (plus groom’s) is in purple ïŠ.. overall, I like their service and qty of stuff, but the printing is expensive. When I have time later I forward you a copy of the card ( they were recommending with grey ribbon but I dun like)

The printing is based on the min table that you have.. so for me, I confirmed 250 tables, so 70%, I will get 175 cards and would need to print 175. I think that number is crazy.. ( too much) but my sister insist that it is ok. A dollar each so I paid 175 bucks just for printing.. a little expensive but it is convenient for collection as well as I know the qty is there ba..

Jacintha >> Yeah, the ballroom itself it a little dim, must play around with the lighting and try to make it work for us. :P

Dreamweaver charges $1 per card? Wah, quite ex. I paid less than RM150 for 300 pieces of inserts.

Do be careful when you write the name on the card not to make any mistake.
happy.gif

Jacintha: how long does dreamweaver needs for them to design the monogram and print the cards? I am planning to visit them sometime in April. Which wedding favour did u pick? Will they give u a softcopy of the monogram to keep?

What kind of printing will it be for the words? Can email me a copy of the card? By the way, do they have alot of colours to choose from?

Oh.. btw the flowers and the tea lights on the flight of stairs up to Winsor ballroom, this is not included in the package, i believe a top of of $400-$450 is required. I saw it on June florist's portfolio where she indicte the price there. I thought it looks romantic, im thinking if i should do something like this too.

Anyone took photos for the ballroom u guys recee? Wat time did u all went? Did u all manage to enter the reception or ballroom? I'm planning to do a recee but i feel shy gate crashing into ppl's wedding in casual wear. keke..

cocotintin >> I think that is standard cuz the wedding Jacintha and I went to see both have the stairs and tealight decor.... I remember when my coordinator showed me the theme it was also inside her pictures of wedding decor.

If they are charging me, then I will do it myself! Paying $400 for the sash and tea lights is ridiculous for such simple decor, imo. Cost price for them is probably less than $20.

Have you looked at what GWP is providing, as in from the hotel coordintor... would be good to speak to them first, then to the florist, this way at least you know what is included in the GWP package and what you should not be charged for in terms of decor.

kass: yeah June florist showed me what was included in the floral package. Coz i was planning to do something for the stage and i wanted to see June's portfolio to see what else they can do. Weird thing is my coordinator as me to see June florist instead of showing me what the hotel is providing. haha..

Oh for the stairs i think the one that cost $400 is for a bowl of flowers and big candles on every alternate step, like what we see during the wedding show if u still remember.

Tks for sharing the information, everyone
happy.gif

I'm still deciding to get GWP card or dreamweaver. I agreed the printing is really expensive.

Cocotintin, if you pass on the stage decor to someone else is additional cost right?

I wonder if don't want june florist, how much would the decor for whole event cost (ballroom plus staircase).

hihi..

Kass: Im so glad that there is someone who is like me!! so KS.. hehee. still go down and see the deco first. agreed on being careful, haha, quite ex. but they have nice designs ( which they created) that they add in as 'free', haha, i most likely paid for that already.

The boss, Jerine was very professional. she gave alot of suggestions, pulling samples, ribbons.. i enjoyed her service and hence was more 'willingly' to let her earn my hardearned money.

Hi cocotin,

I suggest that you call jerine direct, she is very professional and good
happy.gif
and yes, she has many samples.I only managed to take a few as well as the selection of the wedding favours based on the promotoin they have during their open house. I'm going to send a copy of the wedding invite to Kass for her reference, you PM me your email add or send an email to me at [email protected]?

Bella >> you can look back to the earlier posts the page before between nykolee, Jacintha and myself on the cost of decorating the ballroom and completely not using GWP's decor. That was the indicative pricing my florist gave me.

Cocotintin >> so you gonna use GWP theme together with your own florist?!

Jacintha >> KS Is in my blood cuz that is my initials!!!
happy.gif
but you still got plenty of time!!! I only have 2 months left to prepare!!!

Jacintha: i have emailed u.

Kass: I'm not taking up their themes. I will get June florist to provide the guest and reception flowers. Choosing a classic colour and design should be fine. As for the vip tables and stage decor i intend to engage another florist who will also be the one doing my hand bouquet. I can choose to upgrade my guest table flowers if i choose not to have the stage and aisle deco.

Hi Kass,

haha, funny!!

cocotin,
I have replied to your email.

i also have intentions of reducing some of the flowers so that i can place more focus on some important locations, e.g. reception tables, and stage... i will remove the fresh floewrs from all the tables - i want sunflowers on my reception tables as well as the aisle, i do hope that i dun have to top up extra..

u guys seen the flowers by thelittleflowershop? it has many varities, and i'm attracted to the unconventional flowers...! but they are not cheap.. so.

cocotintin,

thanks for the update. I guess i need to check with my coordinator on what's included in the GWP package. It's quite worrying to hear that the 3-4 theme is not up to mark. Also, the deco for the stairs requires extra $$...

I tot it should be within their default package. Because that's what they show us...=(

Could you briefly explain what you saw for the 3-4 default theme offer by GWP?

Thanks!

nykolee: like what Kass and Jacintha mentioned above, the stairs deco is inclusive but i was referring to something similar to what we saw during the wedding show which requires a top up.

FYI, June florist said that the stage deco is fake flowers, r u all aware of it? I was quite surprise when she told me that.

I rem 1 of the theme has a design that looks like a gigantic bicycle. lol~~ another design is 3 standalone tall light box with flowers on the top. but according to June florist, they will be having new themes for GWP in April so hopefully it is something nice.

Hi Kass, sorry didn't read the past thread. Just read through, I think your idea of getting additional flower is more affordable.

Looks like all of us got to be KS to look at the selection of decor. At least if we don't like it, can do something about it.

Jacintha, is there any new wedding flavours for this year that we can choose from Dreamweaver?

If you cannot tell that it is fake flowers then they is no real point getting real flowers. That's my opinion. Why spend money getting sth more expensive when no one can tell the diff.

Well i guess it really depends on what each individual thinks. As I only manage to see the stage decor on photos guess it might not be obvious since it wasnt a zoom in photo. I am sure guest seated in the front or when your family members and wedding entourage get up the stage for a toss then i think its gonna be pretty obvious. I suppose most 5 stars hotel r using fresh flowers for the stage so maybe GWP should improve on that.

Hi Bella,

I'm trying to upload the photos for the favours, hahaha, since everyone is excited.

Dear cocotin,

i thought most deco are fake flowers? haha, so i was surprise to see the stairs were decorated by fresh flowers. i use to think that the flowers on the cars are fresh too, until i went to touch/play with it. haha, i was disappointed at the beginning. haha, so kuku..

oh well, i prefer to have nice flowers at the reception cos evreyone can see.. and i told my friends to grab the flowers if they like at the end of the ceremony, i mean, since i paid for it right? mauhahaa..

got time i will upload the things i got for my guest book, i didn't like the ones which DW gave cos they are too simple and worth 89 dollars!

so out of the freebis ( ang bao box, ring pillow, corsages and guest book), i selected the box cos they are of good qty and value ( in relative comparsion)

meanwhile, i've got to work ;) see ya!
1663466.jpg

Jacintha: which wedding favour did u choose? i saw some of their wedding favours at the wedding show last year and its really nice.

oh.. car decors is normally provided by the bridal studio in the past, im not sure abt now and mostly r fake flowers. Nowadays people engage their own florist to do the car decor so there is a choice i suppose. For the many weddings i attended, most stage are fresh flowers and same goes for the reception table. If the stage r fake flowers then they may as well use fake flowers during wedding shows and not deceive couples by using fresh flowers. Just my thought..
happy.gif

Jacintha >> The favours are the favours only from Dreamweaver for the GWP wedding show or it is the normal GWP favours??

Just fyi on car decor, if yours is not provided by the bridal studio, for silk flowers, my florist quoted $260. For real flowers, my florist quoted $280.

I must agree with presenting the "REAL" product though. If they are going to use fake flowers, show fake flowers from the beginning, dun try to bluff ppl by putting nice decor. I didn't go for the GWP wedding show, but when I asked my coordinator if I could pop by and see the decor (have already signed my contract by then), she did tell me that the decor during the wedding show is "enhanced" decor, and the normal inclusive one is not as elaborate.

So yeah, I guess I was forewarned. But then I didn't go for the show in the end cuz I already signed my contract and most of my vendors by then.

Dear kass,

I'm not sure about this.. but do note that the diamond paperweight (top left) cost $0.80 more.. so need to top up money. The rest are in the package.

Dear cocotin,

I picked the spoons.. hehee. also to note that it is a pair for each guest, not 4 spoons. the scoop is in the shape of a heart
happy.gif
1663942.jpg

Jacintha >> They looked quite similar to what GWP has showed me before, like the measuring spoon, tea caddy, bell and honey/jam... so was wondering. Thanks anyway!

Hi,

May I check if anyone has attended any weddings in GWP or hv oreadi held theirs? Went to check out e ballrm but there was an event gg on so it wasnt fully open up to show the whole hexagon shape. Was wondering if anyone has seen hw it looks like wif full decor? Cos it doesnt look very nice frm the photos tt i was presented. Wld really appreciate your help! Thanks!
