Goodwood Park Hotel

My perks were really signed up 1.5 years ago.. In the 7th lunar mth of 2009 so I don't think they would be useful in negotiating anything now.. I post up ballroom photos once I have them.. The ballroom was lovely

bling: Wow, you signed up in the 7th lunar month.. Ya quite a lot of hotels and bridal studios give more perks during that time because business will be bad for the month.

Hi Goodwood Park BTB,

Thanks for the information. I didn't know that there are different theme every year.

By the way, i am kind of confuse when to pick the theme or wedding flavors. Anyone can advise me?

Thank you.

Once you have signed up, your coordinator should give you some form of a timeline informing you when you need to get certain tasks done... Don't have mine with me now, so cannot confirm.

Hehe , I’m back =) hehe, just had my wedding at GWP’s Windsor Ballroom last Saturday …
Hmm.. I started choosing my theme back in last September before my food tasting.
I wanna strongly recommend my Banquet Manager – Collin , He is REALLY GOOD! Experience, detail, friendly, brilliant and accommodating =)
My sister’s wedding was 1 week before mine (also in Goodwood Windsor ballroom) and we got the same Banquet manager, both of us enjoy lots!

Do email your coordinator from time to time, or ring his/her mobile (email follow by call) if you need more info..

What my hubby & i learnt is that emails (black & white) are important ...

my sis choose the teddy bear as favor, & i choose the bell & honey as favor.. the guest love it =D

hope it helps ^-^

Hi kass & celine,

Thanks for the information. I've not sign up but going to do so soon =)

Glad to hear positive comment, celine. Are we able to choose banquet manager? I hope to get Collin! Ha ha..

I saw from a website. Can't remember the name.
There is this person who comments that not all guest get the wedding flavors.

How are we going to check on this?

I was told by my co-ordinator that selection of themes and wedding favours should be done about 3 months before the Actual Day of the wedding. Food tasting should also be done around that time.

I also want to know if we are able to choose banquet manager. Thanks celine for your recommendation, I think I would aim to get Colin too!! Haha

Thanks Red

The to-do list only indicate to do food tasting 3 months before the wedding and finalizing of details is about 1 month before the wedding.

After reading some comments, I kind of got the idea when to do it.

Thank you so much!

Hi guys, My BTB and me are planning to hold our wedding dinner at GWP, Tudor Ballroom, on Dec 2011. We are planning to sign the contract this weekend. But before we do, can anyone share what additional perks you guys received with me? Thanks. My email is [email protected]

Hi all GWP couples, my HTB and myself are researching on the hotels currently and GWP ballroom looks great to us. But, we are not sure whether the food are nice and if we take the Windsor ballroom for 35 tables, is it cramp? Thanks to advise.

XQ >> Please read through the past few pages... additional perks have been mentioned.

Meiling >> 35 is the max... I think it looks comfortable, not v v tight, based on pictures I have seen... but 35 is your tentative guest list? If so, I recommend u choose a bigger venue, cuz 35 is max for Windsor ballroom, it's better if you have some allowance for having more tables if required.

Hi gals, I am thinking of holding our wedding in June 2011 at GWP but we prob only hve max 15 tables..Can anyone help to give me the cost per table? Thanks..

Kass, I think windsor ballroom can hold maxi 38 tables.

Hi muji,
The hotel has two ballrooms namely Tudor Ballroom (18-22 tables) and Windsor Ballroom (25-38 tables).

Price for weekend is $1,268++. I think maybe 15 tables will not be acceptable. 18 tables also wouldn't include the 2 reserved tables. However, u can try calling Goodwood to ask. =)

Muji, there was a bride who held her wedding at Tudor ballroom with only 16 tables, but she had to pay extra $100/table as she fall short of the min requirement of 18. This works out to be roughly the total cost of the 18 tables divided by 16. This implies that you may have pay for the min 18 even though u only have 15. As you stated your max is only 15, this may be only 13 or 14. Ballroom might not be suitable, alternatively you can consider the poolside or Min Jiang restuarant. I'm not sure of the price for these 2, better to call the banquet hotline to enquire

PurpleTwinStars >> Though the factsheet says 38 tables, I kinda recall my coordintor told me 35 because need to take into account the stage and the march-in. Should be bah, that's why I always remember to keep to 35 instead of 38 tables.

Initially we thought we'll have 34 tables.. in the end only 27 tables after confirmation...
my coordinator says 27 to 30 is good and spacious.. 34 and above might be a little cramp... not sure how true is it though...

celinepuah - you had your wedding already?? Just wondering, if yours a weekday, Fri, Sat or Sunday? Did you get extra wine and how many bottles of wine did your guests consume? Any advice to us?

Hey Kass,

Yup had my wedding at Windsor few Saturday back =) We had 270 confirmed guest, so we confirm with coordinator 25 tables and utilize the 2 reserve tables. With 27 tables, we have 27 bottles of wine plus 12 complimentary bottles from DBS wedding show promotion, so total we have 39 bottles. Total bottle of wine opened was 43bottles, 4 extra …

Options for the 9 course dinner:
According to the contract we have 9 dishes. Instead of having 9 dishes, we choose to serve 8 dish during dinner and serve Peking Duck egg crepe wrap during Pre-wedding cocktail. The guest were really happy with it, coz those came early can have some ‘appetizer’ rather than having hungry empty stomach… We were given options to choose for either – 10 Peking Duck (for 27 tables) OR 12 trays of canapés (forgot each tray how many pieces already..but there are a variety to choose from). So rather than having 9 course.. where on the last dish.. many ppl are already very full.. and end up not eating… you can change one of the dish to serve during cocktail =)

Other thing to take note was that .. 20% of carpark coupon is definitely not enough… you can ask your helper to purchase the ticket when the guest request or you can purchase ahead. We notice that GWP carpark coupon have 3 months expiry period, meaning when you purchase the ticket (at Ard $3), any additional, you can save it and use it on your next visit to orchard =p Think using this $3 carpark coupon will definitely save ur money when u visit orchard during weekdays =p
Sorry, am abit off track.. =p

For favors, we choose Bells and honey while my sister who hold her wedding one week before mine choose bears..
The Bear and Bells are guest favorite! Many guest feedback to my sister that they loveee the bears =) While for the bells, we had Flamingo Band playing for us that night… during the last few songs they played a Christmas song, and all the guest set off ringing the bells, the atmosphere was really happy and warm ^-^

Hope the info helps, Happy Planning~~!

celinepuah >> Thanks for the advice! I'm having a Saturday dinner as well, so at least have a rough gauge on number of bottles of wine we require.
happy.gif
I am already having an eight course dinner, as I upgraded one dish, so dun think can cut one more dish, but I think your idea of serving one dish during cocktail is great!

How many parking coupons did you have to purchase in the end?

Merry Christmas to all GWP BTBs.
happy.gif

Hi Celine, thanks for the advice. never thought of bringing fwd one dish to cocktail! I think I'll do that too since I'm having ROM before dinner, my guest will be hungry liao!

Hehe, you are welcome =)

We decide to change the dish only after the food tasting, which was around 2 months before the AD. So, I believe it's still possible to change =) We took sometime to negotiate with our coordinator on this though……
Hope they are able to come up with more options now...

The Peking duck wrap was pretty cool… cause there are two chef standing there preparing the wrap and the wrap was still warm and nice =) Some –‘ve feedbacks on the peking duck though was that there should have more sauce on the wrap... =)

Thanks gals! Have anyone held a poolside wedding before? The outdoor canvas can hold 15 tables which is good for us, but just wondering if it will be warm..

2011 weekday is $888++ for 8 course dinner
2011 weekend is $1188++ for 9 course dinner
(prices valid till 30 Sep 2011)

i'm finally going to sign with GWP soon! happy!

mrsmaotan >> Have u visited the hotel yet? It is best if you visit the place and get a feel. The poolside verendah has ceiling fans, which will cool down the area but if it's one of those damn hot days, I am not sure how cooling it will be. Personally I am not one for poolside weddings, because I prefer the privacy of a ballroom.

has anyone here hired or planning to hire wedding singers? any idea whether it is absolutely necessary to rent an external sound system, or the sound system from the hotel is good enough?

thanks!

I budgeted for it, cuz HTB is in the music scene, so he very particular about the sound systems etc since we're getting friends to sing. Why don't you ask your wedding singers what is the specs of the sound system required by them and whether the one at GWP is sufficient. If they have sang at GWP before, I think they would have a rough idea.

Hi Tangerinez,
We hired Flamingo Band as our music band, think they charged us around $1.6K for 4 piece instrument + 3 sets of 45minutes...
Overall no bad...
They did lots of Goodwood Park Hotel's weddings b4 .. they say GWP's sound system's good enuff..

kass, thanks! i will check with GWP then. just worried that the band will insist on external sound system when it's actually not required. spending too much money, so must save a bit wherever possible, haha.

celine, thanks! $1.6k is very afforable for 4 piece! i couldn't find a website though. is it just music, or includes singing? what kind of music?

kianlee, thank you i will check it out...

Quick question to those who had their wedding or are having it in the next 1-3 months, according to the checklist which GWP provided us, we will need to collect the wedding cards 3 months before. I was also told to prepare the text on the invites. A bit confused here. If printing is not included, why does GWP need us to provide them with the text for the invites? Does it mean that they will do the layouts for the cards?

Appreciate your advice! Thanks!

Kass, I've not had my wedding nor at the preparation stage. That checklist should be for you as a guide of what should be done in general, not just between you and GWP bah? I believe it's trying to imply get ready for the text and send it for printing. They also have recommended printing vendors where they already have a format ready for GWP.

piglet >> The checklist is specifically for the banquet, but I was also referring to what GWP told us about confirmed the text. So long ago liao (I signed around CNY last year), so I forgot what my coordinator told me specifically!

I'm gonna print my invites in JB rather than Sg, cuz cheaper! So I still need some of the chinese text from GWP bah. It will be good if GWP do the layout for us! Hahaha.
happy.gif

Yes, you can get the chinese characters from GWP, I rem clearly my coordinators saying there are couples asking them for those. How much will the printing cost in SG and JB ah?

It's def cheaper but I haven't enquired the Sg prices. You might want to check out the thread on wedding cards. I will also be using the same trip to get some other wedding related stuff in JB, like GDL stuff, bedlinen etc.

Hi,

I'll like to find out how much is weekend package if my wedding dates fall between Oct 2011 to Dec 2011?

How much should I be pay, $1188 or $1268 per table?

Kind of confused. BTB which falls between this period, can let me know how much have paid? Can share?

Afaik, GWP packages are valid usually for bookings from Oct to Sep the following year. So $1188 is up till Sep 2011. Oct to Dec should be the new package price, unless GWP is willing to offer you the current package price, which some of the BTBs here have received. Have u checked with GWP directly?

What I know is if u signed up last year, it'll be $1188 even for wedding between Oct to Dec 2011. But if u sign now, it should be $1268.

Thanks piglet. Your understanding is based on information which provide by hotel, package list or from your coordinator?

My coordinator total me is $1268 during my appt last year.

Bellgirl, mine is in Nov 2011. I got it at 1188, coz i signed it before 30 Sep 2010. Prices signed after 30 Sep have increased to 1268. I believe u met them after Sep?

Ya. I met them after 30 sep 2010 but how come there is difference? U signed up during wedding show or? There is booking period? Puzzled..

BellGirl - I believe this is what happened. GWP new packages are released usually around Sep/Oct and is valid from Oct that month to Sep the following year. But if you enquire about a date for Oct-Dec the following year, they will still offer you the old package price. However, once their new package is out, then they will offer that new price.

So in piglet's case, although her wedding is in Nov 2011, she met the GWP people and signed with them before 30 Sep so she got the older price, however, because you met them after, so the older price is no longer valid since the new package for Oct 2011 onwards is relased, so they gave you the new price.
