Goodwood Park Hotel

Hi Sharon, Serene is q a nice and patient person to speak to. I've bombarded her with alot of questions then.. Feel free to ask her so that u'll have an ease of mind too =) She showed me the wedding show brochure so i dont think the perks will change during the wedding show. The contract will also state tt the wedding perks are included so no worries on tt. I met her 3 times before finally signing the contract. 1st time to see the package and to view the ballroom. 2nd time to discuss the package and my wishlist. Then 3rd time to sign the contract.

Hi Sharon!

I was served by Michelle before she left. I spoke to her on the phone, and she helped me to make a tentative booking before I met her for the 1st discussion. After which we went back and considered before we decided to proceed with the actual booking.

My wedding is actually coming up soon, next year Feb!

I'm trying to keep to 18 tables as I'm worried it'll be too cramped too!!

Will you be attending the upcoming wedding show then?

I just held my wedding at Goodwood park.

Initially, we were not very happy with the fact that our catering manager had been changed without prior notification. Although we understand that it was due to extenuating circumstances it was still disorientating and unsettling for us as we had a good rapport with Anthony.

However, the team whom we worked with- Winnie, Hassan and Paul not only met but exceeded our expectations.

Winnie acquitted herself well and was professional, prompt and accommodating when dealing with our requests. Wherever she could help, she did- and staying till late to ensure that it went well. She do have good service by listening to our needs.

As for Hassan, we first met him during the rehearsal. He was an assuring, calm and proactive presence both them and during the actual wedding day itself. No detail escaped his notice. Our parents and siblings also commented that he looked after them very well and seemed to be everywhere at once! They were very impressed.

Last of all, we would like to give Paul, the AV person, a special mention. Our 2 march-ins turned out to be more complex than initially planned, & similar to Winnie and Hassan, he patiently listened to us during the rehearsal and stayed till late to get the timing, etc right. He was very helpful and attentive throughout and the march-ins both went off without a hitch.

Overall, our stay at Goodwood Park was exceptional. Every staff member we encountered, from the room service to the doorman, was personable and helpful. We've received so many positive comments from our guests on everything from the food to the march-ins and wanted to share this.

Our guest could just sit back, relax and have a fun wedding.

Can anyone advise if after signing the contract can we still make changes to the date & ballroom??

Hi Jacintha!

I am also looking at holding my wedding lunch at Goodwood - but found the solemnisation venue to be too overpriced. I was also quoted $1200.

Can I check with you, for Mayfair pool - did your $500 include chairs set -up and wedding arch?

Hi emmie,

The Mayfair pool 500 is inclusive of all the items - meaning the sound system, chairs, flowers and drinks. To note that I managed to get this offer via their annual fair. If I didn't remember wrongly, the annual fair is held every apr. there are alot of freebies during that fair - I got free upgrade of desserts, 2 night stay, some food voucher, the Mayfair pool.. Btw, this came because I booked the bigger ballroom. I know the smaller ballroom has less freebies.

Thanks Jacintha...really puzzled, because the coordinator we spoke to insisted that' 1000 was the lowest they could go...she said that 500 was because it didn't include the wedding arch and banquet chairs, so after adding that amount it worked out to 1000. Is she being honest then?

May i please know whichwas the coordinator you worked with? Perhaps we could try negotiating with a different person

Hi,

I am new here. Read lots of comment in this forum and I am very confuse now. I am supose to meet up with the sales manager Queenie Low and she have call me up last min to change appointment due to she have urgent matters!! Indeed I am quite pissed off and through the phone conversation she seem to be very impatient & rude when I ask ''silly'' question. It might be silly to her but it is new to me. She rush me through every conversation we had for the past few times.
On 20 Jan 13 I went to their wedding workshop since many of my friends told me Min Jiaong is good and the Windsor ballroom is really nice. So I decided to sign up the deal with another sales manager who have attend to us. She sound and talk SOOOO much better than Queenie. I hope I did not make a wrong decision as this is my BIG day I do not want people to rush me throughout the process.

Hi everyone,

Here to give my feedback after holding my wedding at Tudor ballroom.

In short, it was awesome! From the pre-wedding prep stage, to the actual day, and day after, it was a smooth and enjoyable experience. We were also very well taken care of and we have nothing but praises for the warm and sincere hospitality of the hotel staff.

Our coordinator Serene, was attentive, responsible and had tons of initiative. She always listened very patiently to our requests, and meticulously noted what our preferences were. She tried her best to accommodate to our requests or would suggest alternatives in cases where the requests could not be met. I was also very impressed by her efficiency as she was prompt in responding to emails, and also very quick to respond to last minute changes closer to the wedding day.

Before we signed up, we loved the tudor ballroom for it’s warm and cozy feeling, and it sure lived up to our expectations! We had 19 tables, and it was just nice. The flowers, table set-up and stage décor all complimented our pastel theme v nicely. We had blue chair sashes, and pink/cream flowers, a pastel pink wedding cake, lilac and champagne table cloths, all of which matched v prettily! We placed all the aisle stands near/on the stage with the advice of Dolly from JM florist, making the stage a nice focal point, and the guests were also not blocked by any stands when they wanted to see the projector screen behind the ballroom.

Special mention to the banquet manager, Steven, whose service was impeccable. He was very on the ball, and good at multi-tasking! He was really there at every step of the way to make sure that the event was run smoothly. Even though we had a slightly complicated dinner programme, he was able to remember the details, and also was able to coordinate the timing of the dishes very well! We really appreciated his attentive service, and he always made sure that the wedding couple had drinks/food whenever we had time to rest.

Going on to the food, no complaints at all! Some older folks found it just slightly a little too salty, but the food was still flavourful, hot, and served in generous portions. At the food tasting session, we didn’t even have much comments for the chef since our families were all very satisfied with the quality of the food. ïŠ

Last but not least, we were very touched by the sincerity and warmth of the hotel staff. My husband wasn’t feeling too well that day, and was not able to coordinate the rehearsal. I was busy handling other matters as well, and the hotel staff was ever so reassuring, and always asked if my husband was fine or if we needed any help. They constantly reassured us that they would be there to help handle everything, and they really delivered! Even after the banquet, whenever they saw us, they would express concern and ask if we were fine. This little gestures and the impeccable service really made our wedding day very special and memorable.

We’re still very happy at how nicely the wedding turned out, and I would be glad to answer any queries anyone has about GWP! ïŠ

Hello Chewy,
Congrats on signing the package! I'm going to be a BTB May 2014 at Goodwood Park as well.
I'm sorry to learn about your new coordinator. Who is he/she?
I think it's possible to request for it if you are really uncomfortable with him/her. I suggest that you can write in to an email directed to the banquet manager.

[email protected]

Good luck!!

By the way, did anyone sign up for the solemnization at Mayfair Pool during the wedding fair yesterday? What was the price quoted for 2014?
As I'm having a banquet lunch, I'm concerned that it's going to be particularly hot around 11am when the solemnization is supposed to begin.
Could anyone who has their solemnization at Mayfair Pool share their experiences please?

Thanks!

Hi Everybody!

Did anyone signed up with Goodwood during the wedding showcase last Sat? Are there additional perks apart from the standard ones they offer?

I was quoted $1,200 for the solemnization at the Mayfair Pool!!! That is really toooo expensive.

Hi coconut,

I was told that both pools are charged at the same price $1,200++, and it did not include buffet during the solemnization.

I was there last sat too. So the set up is what we see is what we get? Both same $1200++? Do they provide av systems? How about minimum pax?

Did you sign up with GWP hotel in 2012 last year during the wedding fair? Could you please share your package details? Please e-mail me at [email protected]. Thanks so much!

Hi everyone, I am new here, and would like to know what is the Victorian wedding package price given by GWP if you signed up during the wedding fair in April 2012. If your package is not the Victorian package, it's okay I would still like to know what is provided for your unique package.

Can any kind souls please share your package details with me? My email: [email protected]. Many thanks!

Thanks!

Hi Lynnie, I signed up just before the wedding fair in 2012. The coordinator was nice enough to let me know of the difference between the wedding fair and non-wedding fair packages, so I just had to make a decision before the actual wedding fair took place. I can send you whatever I have for comparison if it helps. :)

Hi all,

I am a bride who has held my wedding one year ago and thumbs up for the banquet manager Collin ;)
His service is good, gives us nice advise and our wedding night turn out fantastic!

In additional, my guest like the taste and the portion of food.
The best part of Windsor ballroom is there are 4 projector.

The only thing I do not like is their coordinator, not very good.
No patient to answer silly questions (common question many people asked but new to the bride or groom) and they seems to be too busy to answer calls.

As for the package price, it is expensive. However, I don't regret that I held my wedding at Goodwood Park.

P/S: I have some left over wedding cards (70-80, mixture of red & white cards). Interested can PM me.

Hi Jamiez, know this reply is a little late but I understand that it's standard for all banquet prices to increase every yr due to inflation. Anyway like the earlier suggestions, go for the wedding fair.

Did any of you have any favourite dishes?

Hi Aveline,

My guests generally enjoyed the food on the actual day banquet. Some elderly folks found the sharks fin dish a little too salty though, so be sure to tell the kitchen to take note of that. Other than that, everyone absolutely loved the scallops, herbal prawns, XO fried rice and mango pudding dessert! I myself had quite abit of the food when they sent it up to the suite even though I was quite tired already. :)

Thanks for the reply! Glad I'm choosing gwp coz food quality is impt for me :) seems like gwp isn't that popular now though! I've seen/heard of more ppl choosing Capella etc.

I'm a gwp bride for early 2014..I booked almost a year ahead and heard it was quite packed.

@ginahuang i haven't heard much about weddings being held even this year...quite surprising!

I approach the hotel directly. Not sure if they had done any roadshows. I provided 6 dates (sept to oct 14) to gwp for availability and only 2 are on waiting list (rest not available). I managed to confirm the date cos prior couple gave up.

Was discussing with gwp on contract and they are quite reluctant to give me more perks. And the price has increased cos I took nov date.

Aveline86

@ginahuang actually if ur ok to wait, should wait until the wedding show coz they throw in more stuff like free flow beer. That's what I did too. I met them earlier to take a look etc but only confirmed the booking during the show. Was lucky coz I 'softbooked' before the show, there was a waiting list after me.
And yes! Wedding prices will always increase every year.. Same for me.

Oh... but if I release the date now probably wont be able to get the same date again during their wedding show. Is it upcoming? Didnt know if they are going to have it soon...

Hello @ginahuang, best if u ask them when the next show is. Agree with u that if u release it u might not get it, have u made Ur downpayment? Think can't change after making it. I was lucky that the wedding show was near the time I was going to book.

Hi fenarie, can u share ur AD schedule with me. I'm also planning for lunch banquet so that the day is shorter, but at the same time, worry that its too rush.

Have u decided if to hold ur solemenisation by the pool.

Hi ladies just wanted to share my experience with gwp esp with btbs. We received great reviews abt the food and drinks- quite a few people praised the food as being better compared to other hotels in higher cost brackets :) Colin, who was our banquet manager did a great job as well. Although he was a bit strict with us before the dinner started (prob to get things moving), he's a genuinely nice person who's great at what he does. Do request for him from your wedding coordinator- you won't regret it. Serene, who was my coordinator has unfortunately left gwp but we had no issues in terms of follow up from our new coordinator ivy. Wait for the wedding fairs to sign up with them if possible!
