Goodwood Park Hotel

Tangerinez: Is the new theme out already?
Anyway T&T closes about 8.30pm. I'm heading there this Sunday afternoon
happy.gif

Kass: You buying more wine on top of the complimentary ones that GWP is giving?
Where will u be getting your hard liquor from?

nope, new theme not out yet. we wanted to wait for the new theme but worried too rush. so we picked based on the current theme first. if new theme happens to be out in mid/late april, we will pick again.

thanks for the info on T&T

you can get both hard liquor and wine from http://onestopliquor.com

general rule is 1.5 bottles of wine per table. my package with GWP is only 1 bottle per table. so need to buy more. and we bought a lot more cos we think our guests are drinkers.

kass, but wouldn't it be fun to decide the furniture and tiles to buy?? that's something to look forward to too!

Reporting live from GWP now where I'm attending a wedding dinner. At the rice/noodle course now. My fav dish so far is the sesame chicken in garlic sauce and the fish.
happy.gif

Kass >> Thanks for live feed from GWP ! I got so excited while reading it...I remember the fish in soya sauce and the prawns in some kind of herbs soup from my friend's wedding. Delicious!

Vivian >> Can consider Crown Plaza. My htb's colleague has the poolside solemnization thrown in FOC... Ballroom is quite unique. Food is from Imperial Treasure. Food is excellent but not sure of banquet standard yet. I think max 28 tables. Or maybe 30 tables. Maybe I can update you on the quality after the colleague's wedding in June.

Btw, I thought my quotation for poolside terrace was expensive compared to the rest who are paying $500. It went up to $800? Cut throat ah..

Talking about Amara Sanctuary in Sentosa, if I am the guest, I wouldn't mind attending on Sun afternoon. Sounds fun. Very lively kind of wedding.. Somemore, by the time the wedding finishes, it will only be 4pm the latest. Plenty of time to go home slooOOowly.. Can consider.

Vivian.. Maybe you can try Merchant Court. The one and only ballroom in that hotel is very nice. High ceiling, pillar-less. Looks very intimate. I remember that the dinner price is very reasonable. Their poolside area for solemnization is very pretty but with a rate too. I don't think that there is any Chinese restaurant in that hotel. Cannot test the food before you decide. I read from the comments that the food is not that bad.

The last time I read was min. 30 tables for wkdays, min. 35 for wkends. Price for wedding before Apr 2011 is $938 nett and $1078 nett respectively. The price may increase by now though, looking at the "trend" these days.

Hope that this helps b'cos I did seriously consider Merchant Court before.

Kass> So the food is worth $1.6k per table?

Lala> Thanks for the recommendation! I did thought of Crowne Plaza Changi Airport. I also think the ballroom looks unique! But my bf thinks the location abit too off... As for merchant court, I've attended a wedding dinner 1+yr back and I find the food not nice, but I think the ballroom is nice! Looking at Furama Riverfront now, they really throw in all the perks u can find (helpers room overnight stay, 45 min musical piece + EmCee, free flow beer + wine, canapes,..).. lol.. $1045nett..might be arranging to view the ballroom. Heard anything for Furama? urs is GWP?
happy.gif

kass - u very funny!! live feed from GWP!!

i have a friend who is doing at crowne plaza.. she loves that place and the exclusivity ....

can i ask about the prawns in some kind of herbs soup ? they are still in shells? i was considering if i should select it cos i know it is very tasteful but most people do not want to dirty their hands!

Jacintha >> The live prawns in whatever soup dish right?? I totally love the dish, not for the prawns, but for the soup. If you like herbal chicken those kind of stuff, u will totally love the soup. I had almost all the soup.
happy.gif
It comes with shells, so will need to deshell. But GWP provide disposible wet towels for this dish and the lemon juice for you to wash your hands, not that difficult.
happy.gif

Vivian >> I know the couple paid around $1.27k per table. As for whether it is worth it or not just for the food alone, I dun think anyone will actually be paying those kind of money for banquet food. It's more of the entire package lah.
happy.gif
The couple signed up during the wedding show, so their package is different from mine.

My PG did his own wedding at Crowne Plaza as well. His first choice was GWP, but he didn't like the service of his coordinator (I wonder who??), so went to CP Changi Airport. He loved the location and the exclusivity, and if your family mostly live in the east, then it will be easier for them as well. For friends, i think they will go where ever you want them to go, so I am not too concerned.
happy.gif
For me, cuz both HTB and my family are west siders, so we didn't consider CP at all, cuz too far.

Re Furama, does your friends and family drive? Cuz furama riverfront is not really near any MRT... so may be inconvenient to travel to.

tangerinez >> I saw the wines you picked at GHH!
happy.gif
All tagged for your wedding. I also met the guy who served you and he remembered your hubby is a real estate agent.
happy.gif
We bought 3 cases from there. Bought Hunting Hill. Found it the nicest to drink. But our consignment deal not as good as yours. But we didn't really bargain also. :P We only got 1 case on consignment. Hope we finish the rest then. :P

hi BTB, can anyone tell me if the ballroom is pillerless?
I'm thinking of doing lunch there.. any coordinators to recommend?

TIA!

Vivian >> You are most welcome. I juz wanna share whatever info I have but I didnt know tt Merchant Court's food is not that good. Fortunately, you are aware of that.. As for Furama, heard that the bigger ballroom is pillar less and with high ceiling. And yes, I am holding a lunch reception at GWP..

Jacintha >> To be exact, the dish is called, ' Poached live prawns with Chinese herbs & wine'.. I can understand what you meant for you are afraid that the guests have to dirty their hands. However, I don't care. I'll definitely take this dish cos I wanna eat that..!!

Kass >> My guess is that you have more or less an idea what to select for your dishes? If I remember correctly, you have another wedding to attend at GWP, besides the latest one.
???

haha lala, u sure u have the time to eat that? plus if u peel the prawn urself, u will risk splattering ur white gown? unless u gg to dapao?

Lala >> Both weddings have come and gone. In the space of 2 weeks. Also took both menus for reference.
happy.gif
Yes and no, as to whether I have finalised my menu, as I will be trying whatever I have not tried yet for food tasting, before finalising my menu. Some dishes, I more or less confirmed already.
happy.gif

Missbibi >> By the prawn dish, should be wearing your 2nd gown already. Can ask the banquet manager to leave a portion for you and deliver to the bridal suite. That's what I will be doing!
happy.gif

thanks Jacintha, Esther responded and told me my preferred date is not available for lunch ='(
Thinking whether I should do it on a Sunday.. but worried about guests who have church services to go.
Btw, anyone have experience with Esther?

Esther is the Director of Catering. So you're getting the big boss
happy.gif
I'm sure she will be quite good as she has been with GWP for v v v long.

Those who have church services but want to attend your wedding I feel will change their services to attend your wedding as there are many services over the weekend but you will only have 1 wedding.
happy.gif

I've dealt with Esther before, when she stood in while my coordinator was away. I'd say she's not as generous in the perks. My coordinator promised to give me certain things but we yet to sign the contract then. Thereafter my coordinator went for 2 weeks leave. In the meantime other couples are interested in our date, so Esther called us to followup and take over in the meantime. She sent us the contract w/o the agreed items with my coordinator, even though I emailed her that I want those in black and white. In the end, i insist in waiting for my coordinator to be back since he's the one promising me. I managed to get those items in the end.

thanks so much piglet, judging from what i can gather, i tot so too.. maybe i should try get someone else.. =)

thanks Kass, i just hope people wont be late, really hate seeing a half filled ballroom when the event is already about to start. =S

Met my coordinator today... apparently they are no longer using June Florist, cuz their contract not renewed. She mentioned that June Florist themes will not be available after May.

Only JM Florist. The themes are actually not bad, I quite like them... but only 1 backdrop, cuz JM has not done the rest of the mock ups for approval by GWP yet. MF will inform me if there are other backdrops available for selection. Guest centrepiece quite simple as well... but only for 1 hour, I am not too bothered. Prob the biggest change is that JM does not provide a sash at the staircase to the ballroom, so that is additional cost if you do want it!

Kass: there is only 1 floral design by JM? Is it nice? better than june florist?

Its a good thing that June florist's contract is not renewed. Their services are not very good.

cocotintin >> Currently backdrop only have 1 design. I think it is not bad... but can be better lah. That's why I am waiting for them to come out with their other backdrops. If not I will request for changes to the existing backdrop. The rest like aisle decor, guest centrepiece, VIP centrepiece etc have more than 1 design. I like the aisle centrepiece designs, quite nice.
happy.gif

But then June's backdrops are not v exciting to begin with, so to better June's design is very easy.
happy.gif

Missbibi >> You will need to check with JM if you want the sash decor for the stairs. June Florist actually provide complimentary stairs decor, it's not in their contract with GWP. Your wedding in May, so u still can choose to use June's decor. But June's stage decor honestly only 1 is nice lah... and my coord said it's too common for GWP weddings already, so recommend that we don;t take that. :P

Do note that you cannot mix June's decor with JM's decor. If you take June's decor, everything have to be from June, similarly for JM.

Honestly without the stairs decor... I may be able to do something more creative at the stairs area...
happy.gif

missbibi >> I prob won't use cloth or flowers. Will see how I can dress it up... still thinking about it.
happy.gif
My FB picture is my trial makeup, after that I let my hair down and went to work, hence the specs. :P

Kass >> I met my coordinator yesterday too but he said that they are still using JM and June florist. Maybe I din ask in details. I remember that someone commented in the forum that it was very hard to get JM florist? Or something like their service isn't very good?

Missbibi >> I thought just eat as per normal.. Cannot? Eat with hands? Haha!

Kass >> will they heat up the food before sending to the bridal room? I doubt that the herbal soup with prawns will taste good if it's served cold..

Maybe we can buy nice candles and place it on the stairs like what June Florist does.. After that, we can still use the same candles in the bridal room on tt same night.. Hohoohoo..

Lala >> Yup. You can bring your own candles in actually. You finally met up with Raman? I hope things are now sorted with him.
happy.gif

Did u meet him around 6ish??? I met my coordinator at 6plus, Raman was with another couple and I think the parents too.

You won't need to liaise with the florists directly if you don't intend to make changes to what is provided.

Kass >> I am sure you can request for them to heat up before sending up. Usually they will keep a portion aside, you can let the banquet ops manager know at the end of the banquet to heat up before sending up the food.
happy.gif

lala: Ya, go IKEA buy the whole pack of candles, not ex.

Eat with hands in ur gown not flak ma..

Kass: u very on, after trial makeup still go wrk!

Jacintha (or anyone who have been to Dreamweavers' shop) >> Do u remember if dreamweaver offer a stirrer as a wedding favour?? My coordinator didnt show that to me as a favour, so I wasn't sure cuz I seem to recall seeing it but then I cannot really remember the details.

Kass.... I think I saw it when my coordinator showed me the bag of favors that had. But I'm not sure. Maybe no more stock, so they took it out?

I was rather interested in their rock sugar stirrer instead (those that comes with a cup of tea/coffee when you drink in their cafe)...

Btw, I will be taking my bridal photo this april. Anyone has taken photos in GWP before?

Nykolee - thanks. Rock sugar stirrer prob not available cuz the favors are catered by dreamweavers. They do not have any perishable favours other than the honey which is sealed tight and have a long shelf life.

If you want to take photos in GWP, need to write in to GWP stating day and time. There are also only certain specific locations where you can take photos. Why don't you take your photos in GWP Only on actual day??

There's also another perishable tt u can select - chocolates! I'm also intending to take pics on AD. Think u can contact ur coordinator to make arrangements..

hi, just to share my experience with you all.
I just attend a wedding dinner at GWP hotel last week. The total table my friend have is ard 25 table consist of half vegetarian, half normal food dinner.
I am sitting in the vegetarian table. The good point is that for every table, we have a waiter to serve us. But the bad things is that they actually serve wrong dish to us twice. One is the shark fins, and one is the noodles.
When they serve the shark fins soup, as a non-vegetarian person, I immediately find it too real to be a fake shark fin,so I question the waiter but was told that this is a vegetarian dish, the rest of the ppl accept the explanation and some took the first slip. Then the manager come over and told us that they have serve the wrong dish. That is a real shark fins... the same goes to the noodles.

Yan >> GWP minimum is 18 tables for the Tudor ballroom. For prices, please refer to the post above as it was only mentioned approx a week back. For ambience, please make an appointment and go down and have a look cuz ambience is highly personal and everyone have different opinions on it.

Nykolee >> Remember to buy 4D! LOL.

Kass >> Nope.. I met my coordinator in the afternoon that day. It was my off day anyway. Everything went well. Signed the contract finally. Can take a break fr the banquet issue. Now can concentrate on my place, which the keys can be collected next wk! Another big decision to make.

Btw, if I dun liase with the florist, how to let them know about my color theme? Confused..

Missbibi >> Mayb I can persuade someone to peel the prawns for me and I'll juz pop it into my mouth! Yeah! That'll do...I can still look gorgeous that way.. Haha!

Your coordinator will show you the floral decor included in the package, if you want additional ones at your own cost then you need to liaise with the florist, otherwise your coordinator will take care for you

Kass: I just confirmed my wedding favours last month n will be getting chocs n honey..

Lala: maybe u can get the kitchen to serve u peeled prawns..
happy.gif

missbibi >> Argh! My coordinator bluff me! How can?! Then like that maybe they can do fruit cake?
sad.gif

Oh well. I chose honey and measuring spoon in the end. Came up with our own favour message.
happy.gif

hey people.. back at this post again...

Any idea for Goodwood Park wedding show, what additional perks they'd usually give?

Visited Grand Copthorne Waterfront and Holiday Inn Orchard City Center last Saturday, and popped by GWP (again..) :D

Still like GWP the most...

FYI, they used last year's wedding show to increase price as well, but they also gave additional perks like dreamweaver wedding invites, a porsche wedding car, 12 additional bottle of wines... I will leave those who booked during the wedding show to give the details. I was considering whether to wait but my coord told me better don't wait cuz prices may go up and won't come down even if you don't want the wedding show perks. Why don't you ask the coordinator you met up with??
