Goodwood Park Hotel

Hi Sher, the whole ballroom is in the shape of a "Ba Kua" with 3 big chandliers in the middle. You know what, it has been 5 days and I had not receive any reply from the sales manager on my food tasting.

Hi Sher,

My wedding is this week leh. My food tasting is done on May before Jasmine went on her maternity leave. Btw how is your planning on going ok?

Hi Nec,

My planner is Jasmine Neo.

Dear all, this would be my last posting and reply in this topic due to some bad experience I had with some of the fellow members here whom I wont mentioned the names, you know who you are.
I had shared the perks I got for everyone's benefit but apparently some inconsiderate people actually quoted my name when they call up GWP to demand for the same perks and explanation on the differences. This has led to conflicts between me and my spouse as well as stainning our relationship with GWP.
I had foolishly believed that people here will exercise discretion and gratitude but I'm totally wrong. I can blame no one but myself for sharing. For those kind hearted, take my case as a lesson learnt.

Hi Nec,

Haha, i am not stress at all,she has went through all wedding details before she went her leave. She came back last month to finalize my wedding again. Haha

Hello Xiao Hui, congrats in advance!! i'm waiting for my inserts to be printed, shld be able to get them this week...

Hi everyone,

I just want to reassure those who have signed up with GWP not to be discouraged by all the complaints you have been hearing. I got married in GWP a few months back in the Tudor Ballroom and the cosyness of the banquet room and atmosphere was breathtaking as I stepped in. It gave me the classic, colonial feel I was looking for instead of the usual hotels with the gaudy looking carpet colours.

The hotel managers were on hand to guide us every step of the way and they were so attentive to our needs. The guests were impressed with the food too which are from the famous Min Jiang restaurant. GWP took into consideration the comments that we made during the food tasting and the food turned out wonderful!

Initially, I too was skeptical after hearing all the feedback here so I understand how some of you brides feel. But I'm so glad I went with GWP as my fiance-then & I fell in love with the place and besides Raffles Hotel, we felt that no other place could compare to give us the classic colonial cosy feel. (But that's entirely our own opinion!)

Hi Serendipity,

I am glad to hear from your comments. It assures me as i am going to sign the contract with her next week. Any advice for me to note?

Hi everybody here....i just had my wedding last Saturday, 20th Oct @ Windsor Ballroom.

Just want to share my experience with all brides to be @ GWP. We signed up with GWP last June. I have been reading this thread once awhile and were skeptical abt GWP after reading cos there were too many negatives feedbacks and constant change of coordinators. Anyway, we didnt let all these negatives feeback stress us too much.

Finally our last coordinator, Felicia did a great job. She handles all our request very professionally till our wedding day. We had a great time. We also had a fantastic assistant banquet manager during our rehearsal and wedding day. He is really experience with all the details. Without him, we probably missed out alot of details. Thumbs up to GWP service. Do asked for Collin if your are having your wedding banquet.

No regrets in choosing them for our wedding!

Hi jassy & poohhug, i have not yet collected our pics. Will share with your once its ready.

I topped up another $400 of flowers but still feel very little. Perhaps also becos the ballroom has very high ceiling so the flowers looked small n little.

I have requested via the hotel websites, for 5 wedding venues and guess which didn't reply?! Is the service really as bad as what was described? Sigh...

Hi all
I am considering GWP but looking at all these negative feedback, I am quite concerned. Is that the reason why their dates are all so much more available compared to say, Four Seasons?

Dear Wedding couples,

Most times, our first hand experiences with any wedding venue are built upon the services of the sales personnel attending to us. However, this is subjective and highly inconsistent.

Thus, it is also important to have a good understanding of the mindset and attitude of the hotel management, when deciding your wedding venue. This would in turn impact greatly on the quality of the hotel services and food.

The most unfortunate fact, and we were most unlucky to experience, is that we get glimpses of the management attitude and style only when things go very wrong...

We wouldn't say more but our sincere wishes to all couples out there in the planning process, and those who have signed up with GWP.

Hi Fashionista,

No, we're one of the couples who had really bad experiences with GWP. So, we sincerely hope to-be-wed couples would be extra careful in selecting wedding venue.

Happy new year!

Apologies, Fashionista. We just returned from a good, long break. We didn't end up with GWP because they just could not deliver. Much heartpain, anger and disappointments. Please pardon that we would not wish to bring the details up again in this new year.

If you have signed up on a package, just give your best to good planning and constant follow-up with the service providers. We're sure you would be well heeled to a great and memorable wedding. Btw, congratulations to you and all the best!

Hi,

I just had my wedding at GWP on 01 Dec 2007. I had Jasmin as my sales co-ordinator and Colleen (or Colin) as my Banquet co-ordinator.

They did a great job. Of cos there were some hic-cups like change of table gifts but it was acceptable to me.

I have to give credit to them because we also made some last min requests and they were accomodating. In fact, I called Jasmin at 10pm the day before my wedding. She was off work and she still handled some urgent things for me.

Sometimes when you get married, you need to enjoy the process and not get angry over trivial things. No doubt I am blessed with a wife who is quite easy going on small hiccups for her wedding.

The main thing is to enjoy your evening there. Of cos, GWP has room for improvement but I think they were very professional with their way of handling things.

Hope you drop in at the Hotel and you will be captivated by the nice colonial atmosphere. We decided it was the hotel when we stepped into it. Our other choices were Hyatt, Hilton and Meritus Mandrine but GWP gave us a better atmosphere due to its building.

Happy New Year to all and have a good year ahead.

Hi, is there any improvements? I am now considering btw Marina Mandarin and GWP for Sunday lunch. Prob abt 35 tables. Really like the colonial feel... Just email to them to request for the package. See when will I get the reply...

I got the reply by the next working day. Even though I requested for lunch, but they replied me saying that day (for dinner) was fully booked and whether I would like to consider lunch. My HTB called them to checked on the date for lunch and they said it was available. Initially I tot they are really not professional but still go ahead to fix an appointment since I really like the colonial feel. After meeting another sales manager, I find that they are actually not bad. But of course they are quite tight with perks. Now considering all factors before we make a decision...

Hi,

we intend to hold our banquet at GWP too in nov 2008.
I've yet to meet up with the Manager, who is Ester...
Can anyone share any comments???
Appreciated..

I didn't sign up with them coz not professional and the place is quite run down, next to the pub, plus too many scary comments abt them so far plus not that they are so cheap plus they are just a local hotel, not even international.

Seems like the feedback for GWP isnt very good recently, thot they've restructured or something
to make things more efficient? what's the status lately? at least some positive comments in the past... =(

Anyone had their wedding in the Tudor Ballroom, max. capacity? I've about 22 tables. Not seen the room with wedding decor either, wonder how it looks and if room is too cramp if I still need to up the table nos.

Hi gloomy,
when is your AD? I heard that nov weekend slots are very popular and already several couples have confirmed with GWP last year. Better check if that date you want is still avail.

I think GWP's pretty expensive and difficult to neg for extra perks. Havent really liaise with them thereafter, so cant really comment on their service. I'm hoping that more GWP brides will share their experiences with us too.. pls help, thanx!

Hi Jie,
GWP is available on the date that we are looking at. However,we choose another hotel due to the constrain in the tables, which is max 35 (comfort sitting)..

Yap, GWP is difficult to neg for extra perks.... my frens commended that its expensive for a local hotel...

are u keen to hold ur dinner @ GWP ??

Hi,

I've just got back from Goodpark hotel. They've given me quite a good offer.

The place was nice and I can say the Tudor ballroom is really cosy but ceiling too low which I don't like..

I can say Winsor Ballroom is nice ... high ceiling and pillarless...

I guess those BTB should not be affected by the -ve feedback..
