Hi ladies, I'm another FRF BTB. Just signed up for the Venus ballroom for 31 Jan 2008. Coordinator is Albert who is a very friendly and pleasant guy.

BTW, I stay in the west too

Same ballroom and coordinator with you! Agree with u that Albert is a very nice guy. Really give him 2 thumbs up for his service when I have another meeting with him last week.

Hi Law & Len & all other claim to be fat brides to be:

Erm i don't really fancy meat & i ate alot of veges & fruits, but i do look plump plump, now also finding ways to slim down...

so poor thing for we ladies rite, marry got to slim down & look nice..haiz...envy those guys
 
Yea lor dolphin.

I'm a vegetarian and take mostly veggies. I don't eat those fried or mock stuff, but still fat. What to do? We all wanna look nice in our photos and on our AD! Envy the guys too...
 
I'm skinny but have a protuding tummy which is totally unsightly! Some people even thought I'm pregnant!

I guess no matter what size we are, there's always something to complain about.

Let's all work hard to lose weight / gain weight / firm up / trim tummy, etc!

For those taking the Venus ballroom, did anyone noticed that the ballroom is quite worn out? My hubby pointed out to me that the wooden portion of the wall is all chipped and look worn. Even the sides of the doors are also chipped. I've asked Albert if they will renovate the ballrooms and he said the carpets will be changed. There is no mention that the wooden portions or doors will be changed.
 
i din notice the walls n doors when i went to view the ballroom...maybe i was concentrating on the deco instead bah...n i think many guests wun bother to look at all the detail...wat catches their eye first shld be the deco that is in place bah...

Mercury has some pillars but more at the side.
Venus is pillarless.

Yes yes my hubby noticed, but we not taking that room so did not mention to jasmine either.

The doors is the main thing, but like what stargal said, yes not alot of ppl will notice, only a few ppl th is very menticulous then will point out else will be the decor that ur guests will be focusing on.

Yup, hopefully the decor and perhaps the dark lighting will make it less obvious.

agree wif stargal....usualli guests will b more focus on decor, not so particular on finer details....anyway gers, heard b4 dat if thr's collectively more feedbacks on not so satisfactory conds of their ballroom....will assist them to highlight to their mgmt....might get higher chances of refurbishment.....

Heard fr Jasmine that the new theme will be finalise end of May..
So ladies wait patiently...

Btw i did ask jasmine abt the refurnish thingy, the ans is "FRF notice that is a bit run down for the doors & carpets & hv plan to do refurnish however not sure when will it be done"

Anyway got to understand not you wan to refurnish and can get it done within the shortest possible time, it'll involve costing and the ballroom cannot be in use till the refurnishing is done. In other words if the big ballroom cant hold any function, th means no profit for them...esp this yr there is so many couples getting married, doubt it will be in this year.

Even if let's say refurnishin is done, th means the cost will be added in to the package for those who have not confirm with FRF...

So it's still need to weight lots of pros & cons lor...

As for now the Mercury ballroom charges is cheaper than Venus by $40 (if i din rem wrongly), imagine aft refurnishing, how much will it cost ald...

Dear ladies,

Im interested in having my banquet at Furama, want to gather some comments on the food? Like is the portions small or not hot or not nice? I like the Mercury ballroom, probably going to sign up.

Thanks for your feedback. I feel much better with your assurance, our parents are concern with the food quality and quantity, as they had not so good experiences with other hotel banquets. Thanks!

The food is indeed very nice. My hubby and I have been there twice for wedding dinners. Thats why we signed up FRF coz of the food and pillarless Venus ballroom. Most hotels have good ambience but not good food. I thnk FRF is still a better choice and their services are good! *thumbs up*

actually those are like the pillars to hold the panels to separate the room. I would suggest that you view the rooms personally cos describing here might give you wrong idea

Most impt is, there are 4 projectors in the ballroom itself... and beside the pool..

no havent ... nw a bit headache abt house ah.... we getting plc in sembawang have chosen the unit olredi... have also paid option fee now jus waitin to get keys... but went to visit the plc today and well the door hinge had problem... the gate is locked but the wooden door the top hinge was not connected and am kinda worried becos no one has stayed there b4... the blk has been there since 2001... and the thing is if u use force, can push the door open lo... so wondering if i shld highlight to the hdb and get them to do something abt it or wait for the key and see what other defects there are in the flat itself...

money will be kinda tied down for our love nest so dinner discussion has been out and will be out for awhile.. but date is still set bah.. n havent gotten round to fixing a date to meet up wif furama's coordinator n stuff... kinda hectic at work at the mo.. *siGhx* now the new hse seems to be a bit of a problem but maybe im overeacting??? nt sure... a bit freaked out abt the door...

For those who had your wedding at FRF, did any of your guests got confused with the location? Cos most ppl will think of hotel in Chinatown first when the name Furama is mentioned. Did you state "former Novotel Apollo Hotel" in your invite?

I always tell them "Not the Chinatown one...it's at Havelock Road, the former Apollo Hotel"....then everyone will go "Oh I see....yeah, that one is not bad." hhahahaha...

BTW, when will FRF send you the contract to sign? We gave a deposit of $500 about 2 weeks ago. Also dunno when Albert will call us to go down and sign the contract.
