Electrolux - Washing Machines

you're talking about EWF-1090 right?

audio house quoted me $1279, slightly more ex but it comes with $150 cold storage voucher free.

hi all,
Glad to hear all the good stuff about Electrolux here cos I've also narrowed down to this brand after some research. However, from some websites, people are complaining that coins accidentally left in Electrolux machines will damage the motor easily. Anyone have such experience or is this a thing of the past?
We are considering EWF984W (selling at $875) and EW1292W (selling at $1315). Has anybody used these 2 before and what's their performance like?
Thanks all!

Hi Michael,

I'm looking at Eletrolux washing machine too, at model EWF984W. Where did u see it? The pricing I saw at Best Denki is much more expensive.

Hi All,

Can you advise which is better among the following. I am looking for a washer that can handle delicate clothes like silk, wool, etc, and able to wash a king size bedsheets, and durable.

1) Electrolux - EWF 1090 & 984

2) Brandt - WFH 80771A

Hi there,

Just wondering how is the review of EWF1495 if i can remember it correctly. Is it good? I am looking at a 8kg washing machine, cause might be washing qulit, curtains and etc.

Can give some reviews on this model?

Thanx.

Hi Dericko... EWF-984 is not that good maybe u can try Harvey Norman there is one Exclusive model EWF-1084 selling at $999 with 1000RPM spin. Better than EWF-984 with 850RPM.

Hi Joypris... EWF-1495 i oso using now coz it's using Inverter Motor and it's SUPER SILENT. Good model with no regret... I bought at Harvey Norman Jurong Point. Good price and good service...

Hi Joypris... i bought it at a special price including the Extended warranty. U can go there and look for that salesman which at Harvey Norman Jurong Point. They got display unit there. Good service by the salesman. Have u bought the washer?

Nope, not yet. Intending to but feel a little bit ex. I want to hear more reviews on it. Looks like everybody is buying the 1084 model.

Over the weekend, Harvey Norman had their Electrolux washer & dryer promo.

Managed to buy 1 set for 1778 with extended warrenty on the washer.

Washer was exclusive to Harvey Norman (their hse brand) even we went Best Denki they couldn't match their price.

hi joypris... EWf-1084 is a good choice if u not intend to buy a expensive washer coz it's a 7kg with 1000rpm and is exclusive to harvey Norman. By right i bought that model coz the prices the promoter gave me is so good somemore is included the extended warranty. U can try the Jurong Point Outlet...

Hi Justina... which Harvey Norman u went to the purchase the washer and dryer? Coz my brother- in-law bought same model with u over the weekend. Think he bought cheaper.

Hi jasmine,

Well for that range, you can consider the 1495 (currently their top range) or the 1098 (similar to the old 1090). So far have been using 1090 for the past 1 mth, really like the wash quality.

Cheers

Hi Celestia... the washing timing for 1495 depends on the programme, temperture and Spin speed u r using coz different functions different timing too... but from wat i using now i klnow that if yr clothes if not so dirty n without stains u can using their function call Time save b4 u press the start button. I liked this model... most important thing is the machine is so SILENT!

Well I am currently using the 1090 and not the top end 1495 (well sort of regretted no buying that), cause the sound of the 1090 is quite loud. Well for the time saving mode, well normally i will use this option all the time, as i cannot afford to wait for 2 hrs!!!

well the norm washing time is about 2 hrs for normal wash and 1/2 the time for time saving mode.

Cheers

Hi celestia... normal cycle for most of the brands in the market is 01 Wash, 03 Rinses n 01 Spin dry. If let say u using time save it's less one rinses. In the market oni BOSCH using two rinses, let say u using their time save that means oni 01 rinses, confirm not clean enough.

Hi SwiftZC21,

I don't think so bosch is 2 rinses for normal washing, or else he will return it coz he is very particular about rinsing part. He owned a eletrolux washer before and it takes too long to rinse 3 times.Almost 2 hours to do it. He did tried out TIME SAVE but it's not clean for him and that's why he return and exchange for bosch german made washer which is similar price range. Now then i remember he mentioned to me that eletrolux takes 50 mins to rinse and spin only which bosch only takes less than 20 mins. I guess my brother handwash his clothes thats why he rinse and spin only.

well actually most of the continental washer typically have between 2 - 3 rinses.

Usually 2 is a standard and 3 if there if foam detected which is typically as with most machines in the high range. and no even with the time saver its still minimum 2. only the main wash is shortened. but it will not allow for a 3rd rinse even if foam is detected. cos its a forced operation to save time where time is set as priority over quality.

i will check and confirm for you guys okie
cheers

Hi Celestia... u can try BOSCH customer service number... this is wat they told me when i asked them abt the rinsing part. I din hear it from any sales person or promoter. Is the BOSCH personnel who told me that.

hi,

this is what i found out...

Electrolux machines.
Typically machines has 1 Wash + 3 Rinse Cycles. But if its with time saver option the 1 wash + 3 rinses will remain but the duration has been shortened.

For bosch
There are 2 main groups. machine with Short option or machines that has power quickwash.

Those with Super quick wash don't have short option.

If the short option is selected the timings for the main wash is shortened and it will cut by 1 rinse. But minimum 2 rinses still hold across all wash cycles. Normal cycle is 3 rinses.

Hi all,

Just called my brother, he said 3 rinses done for bosch washer in one hour time which consider shorter and faster than eletrolux model. Will check with bosch agent this few days.

My electrolux washing machine spoil after 1.5 yrs! 1@#!$!%@%^ The drum makes squeaky and loud noises and leaks water onto the floor. Never buying this brand again!

Nightshade... may i know how u use the machine or who is the one using the machine? Btw doesn't mean u purchase other brand it won't have the same problem. Btw all the electrical appliances is depends on LUCK. Does not mean that u bought a orginial import machine can last u for many yrs... It's juz my two cents..

Coz my fren aunt ever bought Miele washer, used for 2yrs plus spoilt.. when she told me i totally SHOCKED. Then i realised that the person who used the washer is quite a Rough person... Anyway wat brand of washer we bought. Most important thing is taking care and Maintain the usual wrk we suppose to do. Example... wipe the rubber casket after using the washer n after wiping leave the door open for few hrs to let it air dry n wash the container part which we put the washing poder n softener.

audio house is selling electrolux washers from $399. i think thats a very good price. thinking of getting one myself.

they're having a moving out sale so prices have been greatly slashed... can check it out.

Juz saw the newspaper, Harvey Norman is selling a 7kg Model EWF-1084 with 1000RPM at special price at $888. Exclusive model for Harvey Norman...

yea its display set. it says from $399.. got quite a few models on sale. but i think for these appliances that you cannot test, display set isnt too bad?

Rihhana,

If you wanna get your hands on the display, make sure that the screw bolts which are attached to the drum is still intact. The screw bolts are all placed at the rear of the machines.

Otherwise, plus minus a few scratches, it is definitely worth the buy.

hi, i was looking at electrolux frontload machine - model 1090 versus 984. However, the person at courts told me that 984 is better as it saves water. Is it true?

But when i compare these 2 models - 984 have a max 850rpm whereas 1090 have a max 1000rpm. Does rpm really matters on whether the clothes can spin really dry?Or are there any other benefits?

And noted one more point is that the 10xx model is using a different technology. 984 is using magic ball... any one can explain what is the differences?

hi Case...
EWF-1090 = 8kg, 1000RPM, 61 litres of water Jetspray Function.
EWF-984 = 7kg, 850RPM, Magic Ball. 59 litres of water

Jetspray means it'll used back the water inside the washing cycle tp spray directly on yr clothings to give a Superior wash. More cleaner loh.

If u wan a better n cheap model u can try EWF-1084 which is exclusive for Harvey Norman now selling at a very SPECIAL price at $888 which original selling at $1219. The promotion ends on thursday.

EWF-1084 = 7kg, 1000RPM, Magic Ball, 59 litres of water. Same design as wat u see for EWF-1090 n EWF-984. Lastly wat price u see at COURTS?

hi swiftZC21, the price for EWF1090 was $1399, EWF984 was $1088, but I managed to find a store in Bedok which quote me $870 for EWF984.

However, when I went Goh Ah Bee yesterday, the saleman recommended me Bosh, 7kg with 850 rpm for $940. And when I went to MegaStore today, they recommended me to buy the Brandt with Optima45, 7kg with 1000rpm was $1170. Both claim that Brandt and Bosch can save water and electricity.

Aiyoh, so confused...as I am first timer trying to buy a frontload machine.

Wow EWF1084 for $888 at HN, any particular one? That is quite a good deal... but did not check with those stores I went on the price for this model. Any idea what is the retail price?

oh i managed to find the newspaper... but it states first 20 sets per store... not sure whether by the time i get down on thursday... probably all will be sold out... haiz

Hi case...u stayed arnd where? Maybe i can checked for u which outlet still got stocks for that EWF-1084. That model is realli a good buy btw EWF-984 HN ever sell at special price at $799. Better then outside dealer shop. Somemore now u r buying a 7kg with 1000RPM at $888. Maybe u can PM me u stayed arnd where then i check out the details for u...

hi swiftZC21, thanks for helping... i have PM you.

But I was still trying to decide between Electrolux or Bosch. The Bosch model I look at is WAE18160SG with variable speed of 600 to 900rpm, 7kg. But the water consumption is 49 liters and lower electricity. I kinda like the quick wash function where I can wash the 5kg clothes in 35 mins (The function called Mixed Load). Does Electrolux have any quick wash function?

I think I may drop by Harvey Norman tomorrow to take a look at both model.

Hi Case... emmm regarding the Bosch washer the disadvantage is the machine is abit hollow which Electrolux washer is Solid so when u doing washing electrolux washer will be more quiet n abt Quick wash electrolux oso have but they r called Time Save, their time save is for Full load for Cotton n Sythectic materials. emmm... timing wsie is almost the same as Bosch.

Hi anise... EWF-1495 is quite a good machine coz i'm using now. Super quiet machine, n is using DC motor so called Inverter. Is a 8kg, 1400RPM, Jetspray function. Original selling at $1919 which harvey Norman selling at $1599.
