hi swiftZC21, i just got the chance to visit HN and 1084 still available. But $888 exclude delivery charge of $30. So, it will add up to $918. But the good thing on HN is that the extended warranty, i like the scheme. But I am still undecisive about it. Still trying to consider Bosch, as it seems that it all stainless steel in the tumbler whereas electrolux have plastic for the joints.... haiz... but like what you say, HN is a good buy for 1084. BTW, promotion ends on friday.. so i have a day to think again.. anyway, i need the washing machine only in Oct as I am shifting house, so will see maybe i order in only next few months.

hi swiftZC21, just to let you know that i finally purchase the EWF-1084 from HN at the expo sale. The sales there was $899. But I bought the display set where they give me good discount. Hence, I just bought at $845 include delivery and 5 years extended warranty.

Now, I saw their display on electrolux hob and hood and was still considering to buy it. Hmmm... any idea if the hob and hood is good?

hi all,

i've been using my EW1087 for coming to 6years... recently seems giving problem..when i on the power, and the door lock is lighted up, and it jus got stuck there, all the lightes on other switches jus black out...i normally will leave my w/m washing and go out for a quickie breakfast in the morning, and come back everything will be done. But these two weeks, i have to wait for hours for the washing to be completed, at times even over nite...

does anyone encounter such problem?

Jess,

Your switch board is giving you problem.... This is an obvious sign that the time is almost up for the washer which you are presently using.

You might want to call electrolux to ask them how much does it cost to change the panel switch board for you. If it is more then $200/- i doubt it is worth the repair.

thks twt... =)

cos we bought it @800 6years back...RSP was $1xxx..(cant remember) my hb was saying if is below $200 we can give it a try, i also call Kang Tai Electrical @ jurong west, they quote me for 1090 @ 1050, he keep repeating this cost so much due the drum they using is differnt from other models...he also suspected is sensor board links to circuit board are down...would be due to overloaded problem... =s

i like this w/m very much, jus cant bear to part with it...

now Audio hse quote me LG & samsung brand, is really alot cheaper compare to Electrolux =(

any idea on LG WD-10481TP???

My contractor going to drill a hole on the wall from the kitchen where my washer will be installed, for the washer's drainage. Can anyone advice me how high show the drainage point should be? Does it matters in the first place?

hi ppl,

I bought a Electrolux EWF1495 front load washing machine in October 2008. Cost: S$1662.

Just this week, it broke down. Arranged for an appointment and the service personnel come.

From the way he works, seriously dunno whether he knows his trade or not. He progressively changed all the parts, one by one. Change one and then test. Cannot, proceed to another one and test again.

I can see that he is trying out "mix-and-match" of the cables and wires he pulled out after putting in the new components. After all that, it still does not work.

Finally, he said it is due to the motor card, which he does not have on hand. So the repair cannot be done by today and I have to be stuck with my dirty laundry over the CNY period.

He also commented that since the outlet hose was cut and shortened, the warranty may not cover.

What does motor card spoiled and outlet hose cut and shortened have in connection??? Beats me.

This is the most expensive washer I bought over the years. From a $399 to a $899 to this $1662.

He also said that we shall use "Low sub" detergent. From the user guide, concentrated can still be used if we are not using the pre-wash mode. So wht's the problem?

Morale of the story - high end washer may not be good.

And I seriously won't recommended Electrolux to anyone. First time purchase of this well-known brand and the highest range of their products = worst ever experience.

Actually from what I know, all front loaders should use low suds detergent,so i guess u should not change to other types, as this will shorten the life span. But however i think this model has alot of complaints from users around the world.
below is the reviews from the following websites.

http://www.reviewcentre.com/reviews186154.html

Another review site
http://www.thisreview.com.au/Reviews/Home/Washing-Machines/Front-Loading/Electrolux-EWF1495-8Kg-Front-Loading-Washing-Machine

The first site is a uk site, the 2nd is an australian site.Maybe if u google the model of appliances u intend to buy next time, u might be able to see alot of independant revies on it,n so forth help in making a wiser purchase. I bought my miele through this time-wasting,but certainly helpful process.haha

well low suds is always key to preserving the life of front load washers or top load continental washers.

the use of concentrate means the use of low suds concentrates. not dynamo and such. Its like committing the greatest crime towards the machine ...

the 1495.. well not one of my favourite though.

Hi guys, Harvey Norman is having promotion for EWF1495 at $999, is this model good??? Anyone has used this model before, please advise! Thanks!!!

Well

1074
7kg washer
14 wash cycles
1000rpm
TIME MANAGER feature
Magic ball washing system

Whereas
1495
8kg capacity
1400rpm (this is much better if you are having a dryer)
Inverter motor which is silent
Jetspray washing system

if you look at it, the 1495 have premium feature because its one of the premium model of electrolux washer. because it was already released for a while already its just lacking in the time manager feature.

If time manager is really not that crucial, which usually isnt cos we usually just start wash and we will be around at home somehow. i would still go for 1495. cos its original price is about double the selling price. its retailing around 1.7-1.9k. so having it sold at 999 its a steal if you look at it that way.

Hi ridz, thanks for your prompt reply! But I have read reviews on the internet that loose coins can cause damage. Also, does it come with cold wash feature? Cos from the settings, i can see more cold wash functions for 1074 than 1495.

ridhwan82

Member
Well actually loose coins can damage any type of continental washer if it just happen to be at the "sweet spot" and it just hits with a wham bham while spinning.

As for cold wash feature. Yes it does but not too sure for which cycles does it have.

As for 1074 it will have more cold wash feature because of the fact that its under the eco-range of washer for electrolux hence more cold wash option. i will check for the 1495 and let you know.

Hmmm ... think I would prefer 1074 if it has more cold wash feature as I intend to use cold wash most of the time than heater. Ok, let me know the cold wash option for 1495. Thanks ridz for your help !!!

okie here goes,

ive read the manual. its more worth the money to buy the 1495. also its inverter motor and 1400 rpm

Here are the wash programmes okie
Cotton. Temperature is selectable from cold to 90
Quick 60 - washes at 60 degrees
Cotton eco - washes half load at 60
synthetic - cold to 60 degrees
delicate - cold to 40
handwash - cold to 40
wool - cold to 40
silk - 30 only
blankets - 40 only.

waht i mean from cold to 90 means you select cotton and then ovveride the temperature. there is another temperature selector where u choose the temperature you desire. in this case cold. for almost all of its feature.

it also has delay start,
extra rinse
time save option (shortened main wash
intensive wash
economy option
easy iron option

cheers ridz

Hi ridz, I have finally chosen 1074 over 1495 due to the fact that it's a newer model, the settings are simpler compared to 1495 and fulfills all my requirements. Nevertheless, thanks very much for sharing the information! Cheers!
