Curtains

Hi!
I have some curtains n some curtain cloth already with me... I just want to install the brackets and the poles ... and buy the rings with hooks attached.. has anybody done that??
i/e just bot the hardware from some shop... other than IKEA or Spotligt!!

We went to Clementi central last night and got the following quotation from a shop:

Living Room (3.2m window length) - Day & Night (full length)
Master Bedroom (2.2m) - blackout curtain (half length)
Common Room 1 (1.7m) - blackout curtain (half length)
Common Room 2 (1.8m) - blackout curtain (half length)
We use wooden track and butterfly stitch for all the curtains except day curtain in living room which use metal track.

We were quoted S$1350 before bargaining.

Is this reasonable? We chose quite standard materials and avoided the high-end stuff. The guy says blackout curtains are expensive but when we asked him of the material cost psf, it was not a lot more and certainly did not seem to justify this total amount especially when our window lengths are not too long.

Can anyone comment/advise on our quotation? Where else is a good place to get curtains? Thanks.

i think that she is amazing, she gave me great advice for my place as to wad to do and wad not to do.
 
the one at plaza sing is j&s design? i love their stuff.. but too pricey! was out of my budget! but no doubt that theirs are nice..

maybe when i strike toto then i go to them to change my curtains hee hee
 
hihi...me juz hav my insallation by the same shop as wat chocoliney has introduced here oso..very satisfied with the service and quality of the curtains, though not reali much much cheaper than in sg (which i thot so initiali, tink cos the material all very gd, quite high-end, prob in sg, more ex la, i didnt go to others for quotes)..but they r very fast, last wk quotation & confirmation, tis wk come for installation..cos they have own factory..

Mr. Chow is the boss who will come for quotation, Mr. Kenny is the manager who come for quotation as well as installation who is very friendly...
They have patiently gave suggestions on selection of curtains matching my home (fyi, my home is quite colorful for different rooms, so curtains will need to b different style for diff rms)...overall very satisfied...

MBR- DAY & NITE CURTAIN-FULL HEIGHT (curve track)
COMMON ROOM- NITE CURTAIN-HALF HT
COMMON ROOM- NITE CURTAIN-FULL HT
LIVING ROOM- NITE CURTAIN-FULL HT (curve track)

due to my window curving, they need to use multi-purpose track which is more ex, SGD1100

hi ms blur, as mentioned previously above, mine is ard SGD1,100 due to 2 multi-purpose tracks used as my window is curved for living rm & masterbedroom...if nt, tink will b cheaper than singapore bah though the material used is of gd quality..

cos they coming to singapore all the way to earn $, they will nt bring lousy material to earn little bit...haha....

Engaged Arts Living (FurnitureMall) and paid full. But disappointed with service as they're late > 1hr for taking measurements session and didnt call to inform. Have to re-schedule. Lesson learnt, don't pay full.

Hi Ladies, need some advice. Some times back, I got Jimmy Textiles to do up my 5 rm flat. In less than 1 year, the fabric for the curtains started to tear due to weather conditions (I frankly think it's quite BS, the man just sold me lousy fabric, that's all). Anyways, heart pain, cos I paid $1100 for the whole house. Now, I have the tracks, but no curtains. I went back to the shop, but the price they quoted was very expensive (something like $15 per foot .. can't remember already) Can anyone recomend the most economical way to solve this problem? I
 
roman blinds is easily to handle. I have roman blind in my rm and bay windows. I pay to learn from the expensives mistakes I caused. Never take out the whole things. Never pull the string needs to tie a knot individually as marking to maintain the alighnment once alighnment out it going to cause u a headache. U ask the curtain man down to yr place going to charge u by hourly rate to fix it back.

applestar: not a prob applestar..the dining table was made by the carpenter our ID engaged..it's part of the overall design theme

nixxy: thanks! we really liked our curtains alot as well =) gotta thank our curtain maker for it! we spent about $1.5k for the living room + 3 bedrooms..the fabrics we chose were slightly pricier as they were either from italy or holland
 
Hi.. has anyone heard of ready made curtains with the hooks kind? My friend told me it is much much cheaper, and most suitable for those that already have the curtain rail tracks.

Yupz we r definitely satisfied with their fabric quality and selections..almost all their fabrics are sourced from either Europe or the US. As for the motorised curtains, I think they do provide. Can visit www.dzander.com.sg to dig for all the products that they do provide.

Melon:
Our sofa set was bought from Great World City. We bought alot of our furniture pieces from Iwannagohome and Molecule as both have some of the nicest contemporary designs around. The designs at Molecule are slightly biased towards retro tho.

I juz got Doris from Dzander to do up my curtains. neat installation and good workmanship. is getting her to do a new set of covers for my L-shape sofa.. hope all turns out well. all the reno stuff is takin so much energy and time..
