BB_queen, I think my church rents out to non-members (I remember a non-member using our sanctuary once), it's $700, but it's not very pretty and it's in Woodlands. It's big enough though, it can easily take 350 and there's ample parking in the area. I can ask if you want?

my church doesn't really have a sanctury either. it's basically a hall with brown plastic chairs! *bleah* while we're considering other churches that are more aesthetically pleasing, we're not ruling our own church out as it would be cheaper, and slightly more meaningful - it's the only church we've attended.

Currently we are having issue in choosing our wedding date. my FH always have a tendency to relate to chinese calendar. spoke to him about it and he sees it that since Chinese New Year also see Chinese Calendar, y not this one. SO this means i do not celebrate Chinese New Year?

Goodness, i nearly dunno what to do. told him to focus on the english calendar and pray about the date. we can't even set a date, how are we gonna proceed with the rest of the stuff....

hi all...

i'm new to this thread. din know a thread for christian brides existed till i saw someone referrencing to it in another topic.

i might be making a long shot here, in the sense that nobody might even respond to me. but i just need a place to 'offload' my feelings.

work has been particularly tough for me. been staying past mid night since a few nites ago n am in office now on a sat. my work is client fronting, doing negotiations, so it is particularly stressful.

my FH is not supportive and encourgaging through this process. even picking up a quarrel with me ytday night at 1am! when i stepped out from the mtg room to call him to say hi when i realised that he is not sleeping yet. he was hanging out with his frens.

up till today, he has not sms me anything encouraging yet. only to chk whether we are still mtg someone at 4pm. gosh! i ALREADY told him tt i wld prefer not to make any appts today so tt i wld not be stressed abt the mtg going on and on and not ending.

its already late afternoon... this is the first weekend of the year. i am still working :'(

p.s: FH is online on msn messenger now. my user name was like "disappointed, weary, unloved". he DID NOT even msn me. i am heart broken

Hi samsoon, welcome to the thread!

I'm probably not the best person to give advice regarding your work stress, but with regards to your FH, I think that you could afford to be more direct with him about how you're feeling right now? Guys can be a little insensitive when it comes to these areas and they may not pick up small hints that you aren't pleased with him. Sometimes you have to tell them directly that you aren't happy and why you aren't happy, as well as have an idea of what you would like them to do to make you feel better. My FH used to complain that every time I got pissed, he'd be afraid to do anything in case I got madder at him for doing the wrong thing!

If you don't want to meet someone, just say that you can't, give a reason why you can't and offer a date for rescheduling, rather than say that you'd prefer not to, because then there's still the possibility that you might be able to make it. In this way, you reduce one more area for you to think about right now and reduce your stress. Cheers!

thanks for ur advise on FH. yeah... agree that most men are blur and insensitive. i actually told him how i felt ytday night and he felt i was making a fuss. though afterwards he apologied thru sms. but i need just more than that. i need him to step up to the play and be an encourager. perhaps even sayang me a bit...

on rescheduling - agree with u that im not clear enuff.

anyway, he jus sms-ed me to say he wanna pick me up after work later. but the thing is... i dun even know when work will end

In that case, tell him that you're not sure what time work will end, but you'd still like to go out with him, can you call him when you're almost done? Then make sure that no one else springs anything on you after that. Tell them you're sorry but you have another appointment prior to this (hey, it's the truth!!!) and please leave it till Monday, thanks. After all, I think that right now you need his hugs more than work. =)

sharon, so sorry.. i think its better you call focal ad on the pricing.. coz that will depend on your design and paper type i supposed.. they are nice people.. a couple of my fren went to them.. =)

wedding gal, i signed up with divine sometime back so its better you check with them directly.. =)

lovely samsoon, sometimes when it doesnt help talking to your FH, cry out to your Daddy God.. afterall, He is the third party in the relationship.. let Him do the talking and it's more helpful than we trying to get across to our partner.. He is the mediator and gels all things together.. =)

Micar : Yap trust in the Lord. I was so scared of incurring cos that I spent months trying to find the chapest wedding venue. In the end, my leader told me to trust God and just go where God leads, so I took the Zoo, $94 /pax. Then, God brought people to bless us. E.g., the printer, who's a Christian said she wanted to bless us, so FOC. And cos it rained at the Zoo, (quite sad but God was good), we had a 10% rebate from the Zoo. In the end, we made from our wedding and managed to cover my Divine Couture Package and part of my Moo Media package. It was really God's grace. So plan within ur means and ask God for directions. BTW, I want to share about a phonecall from my friend just now..

Some background 1st.. This friend is having her wedding in Sept while mine is in Dec. She told me her mum is "pantang" and I cannot attend her wedding because it is less than 4 months apart. Of course I was kind of disappointed bcos we were pretty close.. but then, to respect her family, I told her it's ok.. I won't attend her wedding.

We have also discussed on a previous occasion about her attending my wedding. I told her I've no problems about that because I don't really think it would bring me bad luck and so on..

Then today when she called me, she said she has told her mum to go to the temple to pray and get an amulet because she wanted me to be her jie mei. She wanted to burn the amulet for me to drink!!! I was so shocked.. didn't quite know what to say.. because I can't believe my ears. She even told her mum I would definitely drink it because I am not superstitious.. I should be ok...

I told my mum about it and she was of course angry. She said to tell my friend that we, Christians are not allowed to take in any burnt "fu" water.

On one hand, I don't want to offend my friend. On the other hand, I will NOT take in any water with burnt amulet!!

Pray that God will intervene and bless me with wisdom on how to handle the situation.

Hmm...it sure is a sticky situation..but i think it is impt tat you share with ur fren of your religious beliefs.
If she is a pal,she will understand and not impose herself agst ur beliefs.

Let me share with you,my fren who is a Christian was ostracised by his parents,relatives and even called him names when he refused to hold joss sticks at his grandpa's funeral (he was his fav grandchild),but he hold his ground.And now they understand and respect his stand.It is also a gd testimony.So hold on okie?

dear angelyn, i don't know you, but i just wanna tell you that i'll be praying for you

my boyfriend's grandma passed away last year and during the rites he too stood his ground. his other christian relatives actually joined in the walking and bowing, so it was particularly hard for him. but God has His ways of rewarding His children when they acknowledge His sovereignty. do stand firm!

dear angelyn, stick to our own ground. as God is our sovereign and He reigns over everytin... like ours my mum knowing that we wont hold joss sticks during the AD to pay respect for our grandparents and select the date for GDL and an-chuan so she respects us and didnt force us to do it...

so we will pray for you as u go thru tis wif ur fren. leave every decision to HIM and he will fight the battle wif u....

My workload this year has been very much increased & certainly am finding much difficulty upkeeping with the many new sisters in this thread. *pants* (heheh, getting old!) For the march-in song I guess it depends what song you wanna use. I'm probably using an operatic one so with a pianist that's not possible...But having a pianist is nice too. Simple but meaningful, esp if it is a friend who's playing.

summerlce, try the cd shop at pacific plaza.. the traditional march in song you looking for is known as "bridal chorus".. i used it for my church march in.. but the cd is MIA at the moment so i cant help much..

"wedding march" is the traditional march out song, fyi

most CD shops would have a few CDs purely on wedding music. from the long list that corsage gave, canon in D is nice but overused, Air on G by Bach is nice too, and the Winter movement from Vivaldi's Four Seasons is really nice. if you're into more classical pieces, you can try Rachmaninov - beautiful music.

I'm having a choir of friends singing prior to the introit and they'll be singing my wedding march, which is the John Rutter version of 'For The Beauty of The Earth'. It's really nice, maybe you can try John Rutter's arrangements for that and 'All Things Bright and Beautiful'. If anyone wants the SATB choir score for that, I can photostat a copy and mail it over.

I was thinking of starting a prayer list for us brides, maybe if you want, can post up your requests and I'll compile? =)

Hey Angelyn,

I should be getting the scores for the piece on Sunday from my choir mistress, and I already have 'All Things Bright and Beautiful'. I'll update you again on Sunday? It's the choir score though, not an instrumental score, so there may be some difficulty for the viola to follow, as the clef is different for them. But if they are fluent readers, then it shouldn't be a serious problem bah. The violin could follow the soprano line, while the viola the alto.
