Hi erkerk, Minibu,
erkerk your PM is not on leh...
I decided to write out the story cause pretty long and omit the name of the coordinator.
Imagine after sending 5 emails out to Carlton and only receiving a reply via email twice. All the other times, I had to call the coordinator after not getting any reply after 2 working days. My emails are not long questions but everything in point form and normally not more than 5... Not very happy that she did not bother to get back to me.
When I call her, she will apologise and say she is with another couple and will call me back. But only after 2 or even 3 days then she will call back...
AD is a very special date and normally will not get wrong right? Well, she got it wrong and put it as such in the contract that we were supposed to sign. This is inspite of the fact that I indicated in my initial email to her of the date and during our meetups (all 3 of them).
So she said that she will amend it and email to us and no sign of it until 2 days later, I called her and asked her for it again. I somehow think there is a role reversal here. Shouldn't it be the sales person getting back to the customer when the contract is ready and not the customer chasing the sales person for it?
Then finally after getting the date right and all the other perks she promised us within the contract, she got the menu wrong (wrong price range one) We opted for the most expensive one, S$798 nett (Scent of Passion), in the contract the value is S$798 but the menu is stated as Scent of Romance (S$768 menu).
After all the above miscommunications or whatever they may be called, our confidence was a bit shaken and we asked her what would happen in the unfortunate event that the venue is unavailable on that day, she said the hotel will make arrangements to host the event at a venue of equal or higher value, subject to our approval. We were okay with this and asked for it to be written in black and white within our contract. At first she refused point blank saying it cannot be done. My FH asked her if that was the standard procedure of the hotel, why could they not include it in? So rather than argue too much with her, my FH asked for it to be in the hotel letter head instead. She said that she had to seek the approval of upper management. After 2 days and not hearing from her, I called her again and she told me that the best she could do was write it in an email to me. Then she told us if we are not confident with Carlton hotel's service then we should reconsider having the wedding banquet here. It's really disconcerting like she does not welcome our business at all...
My FH was hopping mad and said that if they only wanted to do the contract in a way that was beneficial to them there is no point in doing business with them. Later when she realised that we are changing our minds about signing the contract she called us to say that she would be able to include the force majuere statement within the contract. But really, this is not very sincere is it? So my FH insisted that we do not hold our wedding banquet there and I agreed with him.
I regret not listening to a good friend about the service (or lack thereof) of the Carlton coordinators. My FH also had quite a number of bad feedback from his other friends who held their WD there.
But I optimistically decided that they should have cleaned up their act after so many incidents...
Anyway, putting that unpleasantry aside, we signed up with a place willing to put in the force majueure statement within the contract without so much as a blink of an eye. So my FH was very happy with the place (cause the service is better and the menu was cheaper in price but equivalent in food). The lady actually SMS me every time she replied my email.
Plus the place has really nice ambience.
I fell in love with it the first time I went there for a look. Plus I will be able to have quite a long march in.
That is all I have to share. I hope that all you gals who signed with Carlton have a wonderful AD and WD.
God bless and take care okay?
P.S. Do try to get all the promised perks in black and white.
