we found 60+ hollow parquet tiles in the master-bedroom but HDB not willing to change the whole room for us..

they insist on filling with glue.. totally nonsense la!!
how to convince them?
anyone managed to get them to hack and change parquet?

hi herain, so your film are spoilt and need to be replaced?

I think you can make noise at BSC to hurry them. or escalate the issue to HDB TO. it works for me.

3 panels scratched. one panel scratched by hdb contractors when they do up the defects. sianz.. they are saying they have difficulty finding the right suppliers etc.

rumi78

New Member
hahahah... excuses. they hope u can't wait and will close one eye to the defects. Hmm But glass panels can get scratched one?

Mine is scratched at the window frame. the aluminium part and they told me they cant find supplier for the frame of that champange colour.. so we closed one eye lah. since they are rectifying most of my other stuff.

herain

New Member
Frames are also left with alot of scratches. Initially they only offered to polish it for us.. but they did mentioned that it will leave us with different color tones on the frames. Hence, we closed one eye. They didnt mention that they cant find any supplier wor..

ryanon123

New Member
for me, i will just close one eye. i think getting a different color tones are more worst than the few scratches, over time you don't even think about the scratches or notice it. it is only when you do checking for defects that you take notice of every single minor details.

Btw, mindef reverted, reply as follows -

I refer to your feedback made to the Minister for Defence, on the issue of noise pollution generated from Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF)’s aircraft on 29 Jun 2008.

2. We regret that the noise level generated by our aircraft flying activities has caused inconvenience to you. We are also mindful of your concerns over the noise generated by aircraft flying activities. The well-being of residents living near airbases is always of prime concern to MINDEF and the RSAF. Due to our country's limited airspace and the need for our pilots to hone their flying skills locally day and night, our aircraft will inevitably fly over some residential areas, including Jurong.

3. The RSAF does not usually conduct flying activities on Sundays. However, the flying activities on 29 Jun 2008 were necessary due to the RSAF's participation in an exercise with a foreign air force.

4. The RSAF constantly examines ways to reduce the impact of noise from our flying activities. Current noise abatement measures include:

a. Raising the minimum transit altitudes of RSAF aircraft;

b. Having our aircraft take the quickest flight route to the training areas;

c. Ensuring that all day flying activities commence after 0700hrs and all night flying activities cease by 2300hrs, unless absolutely necessary for operational reasons; and

d. Relocating a significant portion of aircraft training overseas.

5. In the interest of national security, flying activities remain crucial to the defence of our country. Please be assured that whilst maintaining operational readiness and vigilance for the security of our nation, the RSAF will continue to remain sensitive to the concerns of the public. We thank you for your understanding.

Anyway, finally here's the reply from HDB/LTA.

--
We are pleased to inform you that HDB will be implementing the scheme soon, starting in about 1-2 weeks' time.

1. Opening of centre divider with spring loaded post on both side (7m) to enable right-turn movement from HDB access near blk 678D into Jurong West St 64 heading towards Jurong West Ave 4.

2. U-turn sign with suppplementary plate
"Vehicles not exceeding 2500kg"

3. Modification to traffic island to faciliate U-turn movement U-turn at the junction of Jurong West St 64/Jurong West Ave 4.

suddenly so quiet here..where did everyone go to?

has anyone experience leaking of water from the ceiling in your toilets? Mine is. Apparently its quite bad as when we remove the panels this *whole load* of water just came splashing down.

now have to wait till bsc people rectify it.

Was super duper busy with my ROM last week and didn't have time to work on the request for HDB/LTA. I guess that they finally realized that the estate needs to have a proper entrance and exit for the residents... :p

Hi Kevin,

Receive the invitation mail from Standard Chartered yesterday for this year marathon. Are you joining? I think i will join the 21.1km as usual. Better sign up early or it will be fully booked like last year, and $65 per person if you sign up after Aug.

can we turn right in from the road opposite or still must make a U-turn?

so far i only see cars turning right from our estate estate.

ryanon123

New Member
Ya you have to make a U-turn. I was quite puzzled at first because i thought the barrier should be removed at the entrance. I think some cars will still make a right turn into the estate (taking short cuts) via the exit road, rather than making a U-turn in front;.

Not possible coz...
From the proposal & map of layout changes, it says that there will be spring loaded posts on both side of the opening to enable only right-turn movement from HDB access near blk 678D into Jurong West St 64 heading towards Jurong West Ave 4.

This should prevent right turn into the estate for cars coming from Jurong Pt coz car not able to fit into the opening since there are spring posts.

I have not visited our estate since the start of construction so can't comment if the posts are erected yet.

Slow traffic cause by the right turn vehicle. Wanted to go JP and had to wait for 5 vehicles to make a right turn before my left turn.

Wondering is there any interior design firm allow paying by credit cards instalment for the renovation? Found that taking up bank loan is not worth for the interest. Anyone has tried?

anyone places the TV console at the living's window wall instead of the slanted side? Mine is the corridor slant unit. I am wondering whether this is feasible.

Hi All,

It's so quiet these days. Are you all busy preparing for wedding? My house reno is almost completed, after so long.

Can ask those who have re-do their floor grout, does the grout turns yellow after adding the sealer? I've asked my ID to re-do the living floor grout for me but they do not put the sealer. So I'm thinking of applying it myself. Any advice?

Thank you.

hey meirong, can i ask why the need to apply sealer?

my living room grout has been re-do by HDB, looks fine so far.. wondering if we still needa do anything else to maintain it..

ryanon123

whyme,

you apply sealer to prevent the grout from turning yellowish or brown in the future. Without sealer, over time when you mop the floor, the dirty water will sips into the tiny holes in the grout. It's just a protective coat.

Meirong,

Nice to hear. Maybe this weekend can drop by your place, very convenient just opp. my unit.

Hi whyme, the sealer is to make the white grout last longer.

Hi Ryan, sure no prob! It's been so long since we once wanted to meet up. This sat after 3pm I should be around. I'll sms you when I'm there.

So will the sealer make the grout yellow or are there any cons on applying sealer? Difficult to apply?
