The oil residue can be remove by using essential oil, eg lemon.. alternatively carrier oil can also be used to rub it away...
Actually, both method uses heat to disperse the aroma, the diffused area will be comparatively smaller... Heat may also cause some loss to the aroma and the healing effect as oil evaporate faster.
If you want to use a non heat method to do it, such as Fan diffuser or Nebulizer Diffuser which can be quite expensive but can still be obtain in Singapore.

Oil must be in sufficient water as heat can be quite high for burner and you won't want the burner to crack. As for vaporiser, heat is lower then burner, don't need to use water and scent should still last for the same amount of time. I don't know the price for ioniser, but for vaporiser, it is $60.
