Anyone can recommend moisturizer for wrinkled hand??

Hi All,

I realise that my hands, fingers are getting wrinkled & quite dry. Worst of all, my fingers starts to peel recently. I think must be due to the doing of house chores like hand-wash of clothes, washing of dishes & etc.. or maybe becoz of high exposure of water. I’ve already tried using gloves but still of not much help leh.
Can anyone help?? My hands going to look like granny’s hand liao.

pls protect ur hands immediately b4 ending up in same sitn as me (skin got so dry that small little bubbles started appearing).

here's presciption by the skin specialist I see :

- moisturise with Cetaphil Moisturising Cream (for chronic dry & sensitive skin). Can get from pharmacy. Abt $13 a tube. Not cheap, but very effective.

- protect with Silic 15 Cream (Protective Barrier Treatment). It acts as an invisible 'glove', protecting ur skin agst irritants. It's quite water-resistant, so just re-apply a few times in a day after washing ur hands. No necc every time. No sticky, not greasy, no funny smell.

But must continue using gloves. Definitely works for me.

I can get at any pharmacy for both of the items?? How often must I apply the moisturizer a day?? How much does the 2nd item cost?? Do the wrinkles heal eventually??

yes, i normally get both items from pharmacy. any pharmacy. on the normal shelves, no need to go to the pharmacist.

i usu apply the moisturiser abt 3x a day. doesn't really matter. moisturiser, so no harm. u mite not be used to it initially cos u'll feel a little greasy, but after a while, it's fine. the tube comes packed in a green box...think the words are in white. when finishint, it's very difficult to squeeze the cream out, so I'll cut the tube apart and scrap the rest (trust me, it's a lot left) into a little container. cream is white.

the protective barrier...i think is abt $7. less than $10 definitely. comes in a white & turquoise box. a little 'medical' looking. cream is white.

yes, the wrinkles will get better, with regular application.

no bother. dun worry.
 
my mum uses Jergens. u can get it form any pharmacy...

I bought the Cetaphil Moisturising Cream (for chronic dry & sensitive skin). from NTUC pharmacy yesterday nite. cost $11.70. but can’t find the Silic 15 Cream (Protective Barrier Treatment). think nv look properly, going again 2nite. Tried it last nite, very greasy but I put on moisturizing glove which I got it at Bodyshop, cost abt $15. Hope it’ll get better.

Which pharmacy did u buy the 2 items. quite ex leh. maybe u can try NTUC pharmacy nx time round, shld be cheaper. DUN go to Guardian! No doubt it hv more outlets but I think their things are quite ex compare to NTUC.

yes, the moisturising cream does take some getting used to.

another thing to note. try to avoid moisturiser that contains 'lanolin'. it is one of the ingredients that can trigger a reaction on sensitive skin.
 
my favourite is aqueous cream - cheap and good! Easily absorbed by the skin and for me, no greasy after feel... can buy from all major pharmacies... a 30g tube cost about $2.00... my grandma and mother like it as their skin quite dry... and doctors also prescribe it for some skin conditions...
 
I am using the La Source Hand Therapy by Crabtree & Evelyn. It's pretty good albeit a little pricey at $35.
 
Hi im using La Source too at Catz's recommendation. Muz say its really effective at moisurising parched hands. I even use it on my feet!
 
I am using crabtree & evelyn's hand cream as well. is La Source so exp? they hv 4 fragrance from this range... i am using summer hill... very nice smell... its $23 only leh... i hv another recommedatn, if u gals r using it durg office hrs, tt means u wash hands very often... tyr the Marks & Spencer hand cream range at $5.50. very easily absorbed into hands... so far this is the best i tried in terms of absorption. And its cheap, thus u wun feel heart pain whenever u wash ur hands. personally i like the aloe vera range. bought 4 my mum & hb as well.
 
Hi ww, regardinig the silic cream,
just go to any pharmacy and ask them to show you the "barrier creams" There are many different brand available to suit different pockets.
cost from three something onwards.

for moisturiser, my fav is neutrogena. use a little bit is powerful enuf liao

I have tried a Herbal Aloe Everyday Hand n body lotion. Very effective. give it a try. its about $22

it absorbed into the skin fast and is non greasy. got a nice smell too. I got very dry skin, but after using for a wk, skin condition improve. by dad got very dry and "hard" skin, after using, his skin also improve too.

H2O's hand cream is the best! I think they still have one or two shops around in town, can't remember where is it already...
 
maybe u ladies can try hand paraffin treatment at the beauty salon? I face the same problem too but my hands are not cracking yet, so weekly I do a gentle handscrub using normal facial scrub to exfoliate dead cells and it works for me. At night, I apply L'Occitane's bestselling handcream SHEA BUTTER and AloeVera Cuticle oil on my soft nails. I do not like to wear gloves cos I can't grip the plates as well and my fingers feel warm and sweaty inside!
 
I am using a hand mask & hand cream which nail bars are using. It's '7 days to beautiful hands', a product from Nailtek. It's quite effective for me. my hands are wrinkled & dry, improved after trying the mask & cream. Using the cream to moisturize the hands first then apply mask & peel off when it's dry. continue to use for a week, 2nd week onwards can use the mask on a weekly basis. can see improvement after using the mask for the 1st time.

Amazing thing abt the hand cream is that it is reactivated by contact with water. hours after apply the cream simply rinse to re-moisturize the skin.

One thing u might wan to do is when u put on ur hydrating mask on ur face and neck. U might wanna put some on ur hands too

Hi I have been using this cream for a year. I like it as it is reasonably priced as wellas nor greasy. It is easily absorbed into the skin. I used it as body lotion after bath. It's for sensitive skin and fragrance is not so strong.
Eucerin sensitive skin, ph5 intensive lotion for normal to dry body skin at $14.90 for250ml. U can get at phrmarcy - Watson, Guardian & Unity.
 
I like L'occitane 20% Shea butter hand cream. It really relieves chapped skin that has split or peeled and makes the skin on my hand recover fast and yet it is absorbed quickly by the skin and does not leave a layer on the skin unlike body shop olive butter. Non oily. has good reviews on makeupalley.com
 
other than cream/lotion, I put on hand mask everywk to pamper. put on 10mintues and then wash off. I do it when I do mask for my face...RELAC...
Hands really needs to take care as its the only place that cannot be 'pulled' :P

I bought Jurlique in HK. It's sold in Tangs now, you can can it out. But if you have friends going to Australia, it will be cheaper there. Yes, Julique is good. If not, crabtree is comparable.
 
i tried a very good one... Nail Tek-7 days to beautiful hands.. put oreadi then when u need to wash hand time, don't use soap, then u realise ur hand mosturise again..
 
i agree with 'lateforeverything'. Nail tek 7 days to beautiful hands is wonderful. Best used with the scrub, mask and moisturiser in the same series
 
the elizebeth arden 8 hr hand cream works wonders though the smell is not so good, but u will have smooth hands, Also Aesop hand balm are ultra nurishjng
 
hi! i recommend cattiva diva silky hand cream. i dunno if it will get rid of the wrinkles, but it's a must-have if you want to avoid having wrinkles on your skin in the future. it contains sweet almond oil, aloe vera and Vit E.
 
You might want to try using olive oil + salt...massage gently on your hands (works on feet too, specially heels) and cover with warm towel for 15 minutes (replace the towel when it gets cool)...then apply shea butter...Im sure the wrinkle will be off and soft smooth skin will be on... ^_^
 
A good hand cream or body lotion will help prevent and repair wrinkled skin on hands. It will also prevent irritation on the palms and excessive dryness.
When you are shopping for a lotion, avoid the ones that contain petrolatum or mineral oil. They make the problem worse.
 
I would recommend trying Gold Bond Intense moisturizing lotion. As a nail tech, I know what it means to have dry hands. This lotion works better than a lot I've tried. It's extremely thick too.

Make sure you are reapplying lotion as often as your hands need it. Just because you apply lotion once, doesn't mean it will be enough...if that's how you do it. My hands can look great after a lotion application, but if I take a shower or wash the dishes without gloves, forget it. I've just stripped my hands of the moisture they had because of the detergents in the soap. It's a battle, but you can win it. Also drinking a ton of water is essential to having moisturized skin from the inside out. Pinch the skin on the topside of your hand and lift up. Now let go...what does the skin do? If it slides back slowly, it's dry. Moisture in skin allows the skin to have elasticity. With elasticity, skin will "pop" back into place when you release it.

As far as cuticles go, you can try a product called Nailactin from Mavala. It's really nice, but you need to do it twice a day. Cuticle oil also helps. I keep some in my car. That way I can utilize my time at a red light. Try to use high quality oils, like the one from Creative called Solar Oil. It smells really nice and doesn't contain mineral oil. Natural oils tend to work better on the skin than mineral oil. Coconut oil being the best since it can actually penetrate the skin.

Overnight moisture treatments on your hands is also good. Applying a heavy moisturizer to your hands before bed is good because for 6-8 hours your hands are out of water and the like. Plus your body is regenerating then too. Hope that helps!
 
You may like to try the Cherry Blossom hand lotion from L'OCCITANE. Nice smelling and leaves your hands really smooth!
 
I'm using this brand too but not cherry blossom ,it Is nice! but kind of ex , waiting for my hubby to give me another set of hand cream and lotion (=
 
I recommend the QV range of moisturisers. I have dry and scaly skin and the doctor at the National Skin Centre prescribed QV cream for me. It's very effective! The downside is that the cream can leave a sticky feeling on your skin... I heard that the QV lotion doesn't have the sticky feel though!
