I know both Christine & Anges and I would like to share my comments and experience...
1) Christine although friendly, is too inexperienced. If you have high expectations, pls lower it. She gave me a new table layout only a few days before my AD and said matter-of-factly, ya it has been revised, oblivious to the trouble I had to go through to reassign tables to my guests all over again.
2) Anges is the mgr so more experienced but I had a very bad encounter on the wedding night - toilet sewage broke and some of my guests were stuck in a shitty situation literally! I emailed her, she claimed she did not receive. She called me and said will follow up, no news after that. It's been more than 2 months and I'm VERY disappointed with the after sale service and the lack thereof.
So, brides, pray hard you're not as unlucky as me because anything that happens after the wedding seems to be none of their business and no one will actually bother to follow up for you.

I met my coordinator 3 times, the 1st time is a formal meeting so still ok. Just treat me as transparent. I am really disappointed of her service. I really hope that I can find a friendly coordinator in Amara. Anyone can intro to me?

Okie after checking through my package with the current one, realised they offer another cheaper package compared to last yr. This yr's package is $768nett for wkends but the food selection is really average. Mine is 100plus more than this one but food selection is better. But still i think i still lugi a little on the overall pricing. Will go talk to the coordinator again. Amara hotel is famous for their high turnover rate for coordinator so when someone emailed me saying my coordinator left Amara I'm not surprised. Matter of fact i'm praying hard that my previous coordinator will quit
My current one is Anges. Haven got a chance to meet her so not sure how she is. Quite worried after seeing GK's comment but she is quite prompt in replying so I'm quite happy abt this! Will go see her next week and will post more abt her service attitude.

Oh gosh, i'm getting worried. I'm going into contract details with amara this few days for WD in 2011. Shall i pull my brakes now? I should say, amara is a reputable hotel. Most importantly, their package price is really decent compared to other hotels on par. Current co-ordinator also Anges though she been rather weak lately and Christine had taken initiative to reply during her absence. How how.. jia lat..

YES! i think so too! My menu is not as good as the $888 despite mine is at a higher price! And mine is only 8 course while the $888 is 9 course.. That's y i'm so sad about it cos i overpaid!! Its really ridiculous to see hotel dropping their wedding package price when there are so many weddings going on. Unless there are something wrong with the hotel, else i can't think of any reasons.
Twinkle, i think u should go ahead and meet the coordinator see what they say. Anyway no harm for u to know more. Make sure they commit everything in black and white.
Mandy, i think u can try to feedback on their services. I saw from a previous post that the couple got better service after complaint. U can go read back the thread.

Hi, i went down to Amara today to view the ballroom and was served by Violette. 1st impression: she is a very nice person who wasnt pushy at all. was supposed to be served by Christine but she was on leave today. Violette looks and sounds like she knows what she is doing. She even told us to take time to think thru the package. The ballroom looked nice and i must say the foyer is very spacious for guests who arrive early to mingle ard..
Just to share, I've met Violette at BOWS Wedding Show, she said this $768nett package is a promotion rate for 2010. I'm interested in 2011, it will be $768 + $30 for each table if I sign up this year. So I guess, next year the rates might go up again.
I've met both Violette and Anges, agree that Violette is more friendly. I walk-in to Amara last Sat, as the appointment was full, the front desk staff brought me to Anges, who was busy preparing for the night Wedding. She didn even bother to look at me, hope she will be more helpful for my next appointment with her.

Hi michelle, I have the same situation as you. I understand that Anges was busying to prepare the night wedding, but i think it is really too much that she didn't even bother to greet us when SHE SAW ME!!! Anyway I will e-mail to Violette, I hope that she can give me a better service.
Anges also told me the same thing that if we want to book for next year wedding package, we need to pay for extra in each table. But I am still thinking that why they suddently drop their price so much compare to last year...and of coz now they surely will tell you that next year price will increase, but who know is it ture?

Seems like Anges have some attitude problem? But i think she is the only manager there with her assistant christine? Cos so far for this year i only heard of her name? But i can tell u gals last yr i booked in sept and my price is $900plus!! So this yr price is damn good!! If really interested can consider taking..

I have dropped her email on site inspection too and she replied prompty too and we will be meeting her for further discussion. And she is quite flexible with time of Site inspection too.

Besides the location, rates and ballroom design, has anyone tried their Banquet food recently? Any couples who has hold their Wedding with Amara recently? Think we need more review and comment, though Amara is my 1st choice, but still feeling some uncertainly in terms of their food and services. TIA

i am actually torn between orchard hotel (OH) & amara.. i have not seen OH ballroom but i am pretty pleased with amara's long ballroom & foyer & the bubble lift.. the sucky part: the low ceiling & there's no food tasting.. anyone got free food tasting?
I have met up with Anges. She seems pretty experience for weddings. she also share with me some experience on what will happen on the actual day and when dealing with bridal boutique too. although is a first meet up but she is pretty chatty.
I am looking at 29 january 2011 but there is a party ahead of me. I have check out the previous package too. 900++ per table lo for last year although it include food tasting and additional night stay but after Anges calculate with us the current package still help us save alot. And for beverage, she actually give us option to choose for.

Hi Flaz, u were offered the 900++ per table package? cos mine is that one and i find it ex when compared to current package. U mean she did a explanation to u saying the current package is more worth it? Hmm i wonder what she will say to me on Mon cos i'm going to ask for more perks and better menu since mine is so ex and they are not going to refund me anyway! Flaz can u roughly tell me what she said so i can ask her on mon. Thanks alot. Btw anyone who have heard her saying abt the 900++ package can help to explain the difference. Thanks

I remember Agnes told me that LAST year price per table is 900++ for 8 course, (even you book for this year, you still have to pay 900++ if you BOOKED during last year). But there are free food tasting and extra 1 night (mean total 2 nights stay)
But this year the price drop, 8 course only $768 and 9 course is $888. If we want to book for next year 2011, we need to pay additional $$ per table. However, there are NO food tasting and only 1 night stay. The rest I think is almost the same compare to last year.

The difference is not just the food tasting and 1 nite stay, the menu is totally different too! Although my 900plus package got slightly better dishes, but i don't think the price per table shouldn't drop that much even if they changed their menu or for the fact that i BOOKED last yr. Imagine what my relatives and friends will think if they got to know this, think i will lost alot! Its a $200 difference per table and for 30tables will be $6000!! To me it's a very significant difference. I don't think the food tasting and 1 nite stay cost that much!
Anges just called and say she knows where i'm coming from and she will give me a reasonable arrangement. I hope her arrangement will be reasonable enough.

Hi Jadey, My case is exactly the same as yours! I have also booked Amara hotel wedding package for year 2010 last yr Oct and my package is $900++ per table. Now that I saw this thread, feel betrayed and angry! I think I need to faster make appt with Anges to demand Amara give us more perks! If not, this is so unfair! Arghh...

Hi all, i went to Novotel, Parkroyal @ Beach Road & Orchard Hotel (OH) to take a look at their ballrooms last Friday..Here's my view:
Novotel's Phoenix Ballroom is very very nice, with high ceilings & no pillars & u have the entire floor for the reception..
OH's ballroom is also nice, with high ceilings and no pillars, with a long long march-in. However, have to share the reception area..
Parkroyal is the cheapest, relatively nice ballroom but v low ceiling, i think even lower than Amara's.
It was a toss between OH & Amara
After careful consideration & with all the comments in the forum on these 2 hotels, we have decided to book OH for our wedding dinner..

for those BTB who have not booked with Amara.. can consider OH.. OH got wedding showcase on 28th March with some perks.. can go check out..
for weddings held with Amara in 2011, price per table for a sat is $918nett, for OH is $980 nett. Difference of $62 nett per table but got free-flow beer & wine for 3 hrs + food tasting for 10 pax + high ceiling. This is my view..

hi jadey, yeap.. violette said price per table for a sat in 2011 is $918. the price for sat is $888 in 2010, so +$30nett per table for 2011.
I just met Anges last nite. Well she is a nice lady who can talk very well. Glad that my coordinator changed cos my previous one is really bad! Didn't manage to get much perks from her but she said she will try to fight for me

Hi im considering Amara for my AD nxt year... went ov to Amara and take a look today.. nt bad.. kinda fall in love with it somehw.. though location may nt b as good as Orchard areas.. bt the hotel itself win a few hotels in Orchard area..

Hmmm also i went to take a look at OH today again, but my friend n i concluded that Amara seems to be much more modern, and location seems better cause during weekend won't traffic jam. And moreover the surroundings no shopping center. Unlike OH and Concorde surrounding got those shopping center which got lots of foreign workers there during weekend.
