Amara Singapore


Hi all

I was thinking of Amara hotel as one of my choices,but most of the comments are negative.

I'm kind of worried.Kindly anyone please advise me with more info for Amara Hotel.

I believe this is not talking about Amara Sanctury right? Is the Amara hotel at TP right?

I went for a wedding dinner last year at that hotel and it totally turned me off. The food was lousy. whatz worse was half way through the dinner, the air-con was turned off.

Simply imagine that i was already in halter neck dress and was perspiring. When asked about the air-con, the staffs simply did not know about it.

So if you guys are going to have dinner there, prob you would like to check if their air-con will work through the dinner not. It was not very enjoyable as a guest inthat wedding dinner since we were all perspiring non stop.

I had my wedding dinner at Amara Hotel last year. The service was very good. My coordinator at that time is Tiffany and the banquet manager is Jeffery.
The feedback given by my friends and relatives were quite good. The foods were very delicious too.
I think is all depend on individual liking and how comfortable both of you feel about their service and attitude before signing up with them. At the end of it, both of you must be happy with their serivce. Try to be more rational and keep your mind open.
 
Hi Cinderbell, was Tiffany good? I like Uncle Jeffery very much and I believe that he would be a great help during my banquet end Nov!

hi everyone, my wedding was in amara too in dec 2007. I had a great time and my relatives enjoyed the food and the service. Jeffery, the banquet manager was very professional and everything went on without a hitch. Tiffany was my wedding co-ordinator and she was accommadating whenever possible.

My relatives who were from overseas even tipped the waiter serving their table because they were so impressed with their service.
Both my husband and I were very happy with the whole experience. I hope the terrible expereience by some brides here is more of a once-off.
 
Hi Ling, sorry was busy seldom drop by ever since. Well, Tiffany is a very good wedding coordinator. She is helpful and had tried to accommadate to our requests whenever is possible. We are very happy with their service.

Hi, I'm having my wedding this Dec, in Mar this year, i received a email from Tiffany that she is leaving Amara.So sad that Tiffany had left Amara, and now, Violet is taking charge. Met Violet once, and my encounter wasn't as good. Keeping my finger cross and how everything turns well.
 
Oh no! Rebecca has been transferred to another department, and now Tiffany is leaving Amara. I am very concerned as well, not sure if Violet would be as good as Rebecca.

Yvonne, what made you say that the encounter wasn't as good? Trying to do a pre-assessment before I meet Violet in June to collect my wedding cards. :p
 
we just called rebecca to check on a few things esp since our AD in sept...

then rebecca was saying that she will still coordinate for the coming food tasting = collection of invite cards...and at the same time will intro the person taking over...

now can only pray hard that the person taking over will be as good as rebecca liao...AD in just a few more mths...dun wanna anything to go wrong liao... *praying hard*
 
Yvonne (journey), is that the only design? coz when we booked last yr, we were told by rebecca that there will be new designs for invite cards as well as the theme this yr...and when we checked with her over the wkend, she said that there are already new deco and invite cards liao...
 
Hello yvonne, I guess you've mistaken about violet just because she doesnt knows the chinese name of the hotel? Has it ever strucked your mind that maybe she was not raised in a chinese culture? and you just pinned her down just like that?

she's handling my solemnisation, very accomodating and patience and not forgetting one of the prettiest wedding planner around. I heard she's pretty new as well. so ladies, please dont pin someone so hardworking down like that.

fyi my hubby and i will be having our solemnisation with them this year as they've got a very nice poolside garden and I cant wait to have both violet and jenny to handle my event.
 
Hi Yvonne, my wedding is in Nov this year. I believe Violet is new. I heard from Jenny that she would be reporting in May which is this month. But she has yet to reply my email which I sent her last week..Hmm...perhaps she is stil trying to adapt to the new job demands and environment.

starnitedolp, that's very nice of Rebecca to facilitate the handing over. Hee, I shall ask her if she can do that for me too. When's your food tasting? I am very much looking forward to the new cards and themes for banquet!

Wellie, I am glad you have had a good experience with Violet even though she is new. Hee, pretty wise, Rebecca is also very pretty. Maybe we should all trust Amara for the people that they hire are not onnly good-looking, but diligent and professional like you have said. I have had good experiences with Rebecca and a few banquet manageres. Violet would be as good then!

I had solemenisation at the poolside garden too. It was very relaxing and magical. Both my hubby and I love it! Hope you would have a great ROM too!
 
Ling (senti), eh...cant rem if we plan to hav it end of this mth or nx liao..but rebecca said that we can choose and collect the wedding cards on the same day as the food tasting...

agree that rebecca is very pretty...and she is very friendly and remembers names well too...eh...she always rem us one...haha...and also when my bf calls her to confirm something, she will always check back with me...haha... =))

All brides definitely would want their wedding to turn out well in all ways.
Usually new staff are not very familiar with the scope of work, so as times goes, they will get better. As my wedding is in Dec, I guess she will be a great planner by then

Hi Starnitedolp, I guess the deco we seen in the web is with Add-ons. As all hotels have their budget to cap at, when doing wedding deco.
I also have arranged for the Theme viewing (when there is a wedding) so that I can know if i really need add-ons.

I will be holding my wedding dinner by the poolside in Amara Hotel too. I am shocked to learned that Jenny had left.
Omg, so who will be taking over from Jenny's post? Are they good?Is the banquet manager, Jeffery still around?
 
LinLin, I am not sure who would be taking over Jenny's job, but I heard that Jenny left because of family commitments..so rest assured that its not something wrong with Amara.

U had your solemenisation done @ the poolside, hw was it? Cos im having my wedding dinner by the poolside too..im thinkin if i shld hv the site to be decorated with more decors? im afriad it will be too simple and plain looking .. bt on the other hand am afriad of the weather too .. btw, who is handling your file in Amara then?
 
LinLin, I was pretty worried too.., but let's hope its just transitory... We worry also no use now. Perhaps you could tell us how things go after your wedding dinner. When is yours?

Yeah, my ROM solemnisation was at the poolside. I love it very much. Its also a very good place for photo-taking.

You could do some more decor if you like. I did add in balloons for my ROM, but if you don't want to, what Amara is giving is sufficient also. You can view my pictures at multiply if you want.

My ex-coordinator is handling my case now till the new staff comes in. Luckily we still have her to count on. Have anyone contacted you ever since Jenny left?

i think urs will come in earlier than me..Mine is in Jan 2010. im rather new to here.. do you mind to let me know hw cn i view ur multiply? Am afriad the decor is to simple...was thinking of putting up more decor but nt sure of the initial decor fr Amara hw it looks like.. Yup, they had a small ballroom for me a backup in case the weather is bad.
Wow, so nice of your ex-co. So far no1 called me up yet, i only learned about Jenny case thru this thread. Till now, am also not sure who will be handling my case.

I believe there isn't much change to the decor coz the themes for the ballroom were not changed since like last year Apr.. I doubt they would bother to change the decor for solemnisation.

Actually not really bothered about their title..just wish that the person serving us would be responsible and easygoing. Rebecca has been very helpful all this time, the other banquet managers i have met are very nice too. Hopefully, all other Amara staff are as good if not better.

my ex-coordinator also Jenny. Also only know she left from here. So BF asked me to drop an email to ask Amara.

Just got a call from Sue-Ann Ong, Amara today and was told she will be my new coordinator.
