A wrong career move?

My husband's previous job was contract basis and required him to be out-stationed in another country most of the time. Since his contract is nearing and the company showed no show of re-newing his contract, he went ahead to look for other jobs.

He has just started work at his new company and is having doubts already. This is because during the interview, the boss had mentioned that his job scope is A. However, when he reports to the company, his colleague was telling him about job scope B. That made him wonder what exactly will he be doing. He like job scope A and that is the reason for joining this company. But now, there seems to be a change in the job scope which he is not keen to take on.

Secondly, he found out that his colleague, who have been joined the company for 1mth plus, had yet to received his salary. When the colleague approached the boss, he was told that the company account had not been opened, so they have no money to pay him. We are stunned. My guess is that the boss had not received money from the headquarter and therefore, he is not able to give out salary as yet. Having said, my husband is expected to take up a course which he needs to pay first and the company will reimbursed him later. But upon hearing his colleague's incident, we are having doubts about whether the company will pay my husband his salary and will he gets his reimbursement for the course.

As such, my husband is thinking if he should stay on in this company and see how it goes. Afterall, he only started work for a few days. Or should he start looking around?

Personally, I do not secure with this company, but I am not sure if it is too early to jump to conclusion.

Can you good people out there please provide some advise?

Many thanks in advance

it depends on your priority.

if your funds are running low, clearly, u cannot risk losing a few months salary. Then, its clearly better to cut short the possible loses and leave the job.

Thanks Milo, for your reply.

Sad to say, we do not hav the luxury of having savings of up to 6mths of living expenses. And with our commitments, so yes, we cannot risk losing a few mths of salary.

Perhaps my next question is going to sound naive, but how will the prospective employer view him, for wanting to leave the company after being there for only a very short while?
Will it actually affect his chances of being shortlisted, or rather, will it make him look bad in his CV?

He can be clear about the reason for leaving. that the company owned him his pay. Unless the new employer is also unstable and intend to owe him his salary, that shouldn't be any issue. no?

If you have just worked in the company for a few days, do you have to write it in your resume? Unless your potential boss knows the boss of this company. Even then, if questioned, you can just tell the truth.

actually, he can just leave this out of the resume. but if questioned by the interviewer, he can just say that the company is owing his staff salary and that he is not comfy with such a company. Wont be any issue with that
