Well cactus, I guess you and your hb are quite the cautious couple

Not a bad thing, but then I dun really believe in planning too much. Life is too short to be spent worrying about the future. We can plan all we want, but sometimes things just dun happen the way we plan them. Maybe I'm kinda sanguine and happy go lucky in that sense. I do plan for things eg having insurance, savings, investments, endowments, etc, of coz. But I won't obsess over them.
Let me tell you a little story. My mum used to be the sort who'd compare who's got what (she likes to compare me to my elder cousin who used to be a star student), while my dad is more laid back. My mum wld tell my dad to go and invest in private pty but my dad prefers to have cash savings. One day my mum had an accident and she never fully recovered till now. My dad spent a large chunk of his savings to take care of my mum. Money which wld be more than enuf to buy a nice private pty w cash upfront. What's the moral of the story?
I feel that if my mum wasn't so obsessed over comparing, she wldn't be so stressed out and unhappy, causing her to have hypertension and early menopause. If my dad had been less prudent, we cld have a private pty or enjoy more material things like holidays as a family, and maybe my mum wld be happier and not suffer hypertension, but then we'd have less cash to treat my mum after her accident.
So.. I came to conclude that we shld just be happy w our lives now and enjoy it to the fullest w our loved one. Dun be too obsessed w comparing and dun be too careful w our spending to the extend where we cannot enjoy the fruits of our labour.
