(2011) 2011 Brides

kass, thanks for the information! I called them and it seems like there was a $100 increase.. T_T its even more expensive than Fullerton.. I spent >5k for PG and VG together..

Marian: Thanks! I guess its the same for u too
happy.gif

Kass: yeah.. 3 gowns now.. 1 WG + 1 EG + 1 cocktail dress.. I should be wearing the EG & cocktail dress for my AD dinner.. As for AD WG, still looking around for it..

About PG/VG.. what do you all think of Avenue8? Looked thru this forum but not much reviews on them..I have a friend who knows the boss..so might wanna consider them..

cow cow >> GWP is even more ex than Fullerton? Really? First time I am hearing this! Fullerton has always been one of the more expensive high-end hotels.

What are the prices you are quoted?

Marian: Oh! that's good..

cowcow: woah, your friend's wedding got fireworks sia..very impressive!! I guess they are better at photography rather than videography..

kass, i was quoted $1038++ by GWP on a Friday and $1188++ on sat.. Fullerton quoted me $1028++ for Friday... so its like $10++ more than Fullerton..

clint, haha! my colleague wanted to make the dinner more impressive.. the glass at GCWF was too thick and we cant hear the "bom bom" from the fireworks.. hehe..

Hi Cow Cow > Yeah, looks like they have increased their pricing already.. I belive both purplebottle and myself are on the older package which is $988++ for Friday and Sunday and $1088++ on Saturday.

They increased their package for Saturday by $100++! That's a lot!

Kass, ya.. i was just trying to confirm if Fullerton was really fiance choice and he had made the decision with his own will and not my influence so i asked him again. Who knows the price is now higher than Fulelrton, fiance confirm that he wanted Fullerton le.. hehehe..

cowcow: I just received the GWP pricelist from them 2 days ago.. but the price for Sat is still $1088++.. and they say will keep this price till 30 June 2011..

cowcow, oppz should be last fri they sent me.. saw the date wrongly..btw I just email u the pricelist from them.. maybe u wanna double check with them again?

who did you talk to? I replied them if I could go down to do a site visit..but till now no reply :|

cow cow: Wah, that's quite a substantial increase for GWP. Maybe there are changes in the menu?

kass: My pre-PS, AD PS and AD VG are approximately 6k. I think it'll probably be more than that because I'll top up for more sheets etc. I think VG alone is about 3k if I don't remember wrongly.

purplebottle, initially i was still quite indecisive between fullerton and GWP that's why i wana use their price to make the comparison. Now with this increase, i doubt fiance will want to take them..

Siy: It's been a long while since u came in! How's things for u?

kass: My AD PG & VG is ard $4k but it's before e price increase.. Initially our budget was lower but after lookin at so many works of diff VG n PG, we decided to up our budget because we were sold by e quality of work given =) I tink if VG alone is ard $2k+.
Maybe u can start looking ard since u've confirmed ur venue.

cow cow >> why don't u check the prices with GWP again, since there is different comms to u and clint, can ask whether they can offer u the lower rate, as ur AD falls into that period??

purplebottle >> OT a lil, I love GWP Min Jiang's food! I had my reunion dinner there and it was fantastic. Everyone was singing praises for the eight treasures duck...

But now that cow cow mentioned that the Fullerton rate is cheaper on Friday and Sunday... wah! Mei Fung has not called me to sign contract yet...:P

Kass, I had called and confirmed.. So I will stock to my choice.. My dinner is on a Friday so I will compare the Friday price.. Saturday think for both hotels are almost the same..

cowcow: that's really a big difference in prices within a week! I guess Fullerton would be a better choice.. like what pinkglove say no1 will think its cheaper than GWP..

Kass: I emailed Mei Fung to go for a site visit..and she also didnt get back to me..

Kass: Yup, Min Jiang's pretty good ;) But the menu offered for the banquet seems a little ordinary I feel. I attended weddings at Oriental and Fullerton and their food seem a lot better. I'm thinking if I should topup for the additional dish or change some dishes but that'll mean paying quite a lot more as well :|

You haven't signed the contract? Hmmm, I think she'll still offer you the old price since that was what you negotiated on?

cow cow: Do you mind sending me the new GWP pricelist? I want to see if there are any new dishes included in the menu? Thanks! And yes, like what Pinkglove has said, I think Fullerton is a good choice then since prices are comparable
happy.gif

purplebottle >> I have not signed the contract, but the prices and terms we've agreed with MF is based on the old package, but she has not gotten back to me on the contract.

If u do get the new pricelist, do share what's the difference between the old and new package!
happy.gif

I'm v tempted now that cow cow mentioned that Fullerton is cheaper than GWP on Friday and Sunday. We have shortlisted dates on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. We originally wanted the Friday and Sunday dates, but both are booked at GWP so we took the Saturday one...

Never thought to look at Fullerton, cuz my first glance was that it's too expensive! And my sis was always telling me that Fullerton is ex, so dun bother considering...

cow cow >> I was at the Fullerton thread and seems like there are many negative reviews and bad comments about Fullerton. Are u concerned. Do u mind sending me the pricelist as well? Thanks!

Hi gals,

Comparing Orchard hotel and novotel clark quay...

Any thoughts?

I like orchard cos haze is really nice so far, but then i haven't met or spoke to novotel staff..and i like the wedding gift "xi key" nad the red theme....and the ball room looks really grand!!

I like novotel cos the ballroom is on a separate floor on its own and it has a suckling pig for part of its cold dish....plus the menu is cheaper...

prisci11a, yup, Haze's a really nice person =)

I tink diff hotels have diff strengths so it's really up to u and ur fiance as to which criterion is the top of ur list? and maybe after speaking to the novotel staff, u might understand novotel's packages better so that it'll be better for u to make a decision?
We also considered Novotel that time n one of e factors that we didn't chose it in e end was that it req a min of 30 tables which we didn't want to commit. so u might wanna check on ur no. of tables as well cos orchard ballroom 3 holds max 32 tables, so will u have more den 32 tables? If yes then perhaps novotel might be a better choice?

prisci11a, sent!

clint, ya... fiance also said that nobody will think that fullerton will be cheaper than GWP.. so he decided to go ahead with fullerton..

pinkglove, congrats! managed to get a good offer?

purplebottle, can give me your email? thanks! I can only send you the fullerton list coz GWP i only called to ask the price. They did not mention if there is a change in menu only say there was a price increase..

kass, I also thought fullerton is very expensive until my colleague told me about it and i was totally surprised by it. Actually the bad comments was due to one of this coordinator left without informing the brides. My coordinator is still around and i just chatted with him last Friday and confirm on some other details. I had sent you the email! ;)

Hi Cowcow, can you send me the pricing for Fullerton too? Thanks. Tracey _ tnt @ yahoo.com.sg

Priscilla, i think Kass mentioned that Novotel has good perks at BOWS.. I went there during the weekend and it is in my list too.

Hi guys, BOWs is ard the corner and would you guys sign up with them on the spot?
happy.gif
Do you think the packages will be of better deals as compare to walk-in?

zhuzhu2, you've got mail.. i registered for BOWS coz since my friend is going i might as well RSVP together with her.

For BTB who are interestd in Swissotel Merchant Court, there is a show nxt sunday..
happy.gif

I registered for BOWS as well, there are a few vendors which we have shortlisted and we may sign up on the spot if the perks are good enough to entice us.

InterCon will be at the fair as well, but for 2011 weddings, the perks are minimal. They are only offering
(1) Complimentary one-night weekend stay in our signature Shophouse Suite for the couple’s anniversary celebration (valid for a year from wedding date)
(2) Full corkage waiver of all bottles of wines and hard liquor (duty paid and sealed) if u pay by DBS.
The 2010 wedding perks are pretty good though, too bad not applicable for us.

For Novotel, I am not sure what are the actual perks, but during their last offer the perks were pretty decent. Not sure whether this will apply for BOWS though.
* Additional barrel of beer or additional 12 bottles of house wine
* One day-use room from 2pm to 7pm
* Additional one night stay in the Bridal Suite with buffet breakfast for 2 persons OR anniversary stay (one night) with buffet dinner for 2 persons

morning ladies,
I have yet to do any site visits for my listed venues except GPCH..maybe I will do a last minute viewing before going down to BOWS..

I'm kind of attracted to Orchard Hotel's perks.. free flow of beer & wine during the banquet..except that they don't provide a helpers' room in the day time..

They are open only for booking for banquet held till August 2011, the perks only vaid till May 2011..new packages will be out by 1st half 2010 for booking after Aug..

kass & cowcow: We don't travel for work. We do have some mileage from our holiday trips every yr and also through credit card points to be converted into mileage over e past few years... don't ask me how much I spend though..haha...I dun wanna count..lol.. It's also made possible because of our huge wedding expenses lo..so chalked up many points..

Ya, 70k miles to paris & 59500 miles to redeem online which I just managed to hit so at least I reduce e damage cost for my PS..hehe

pinkglove, wa! you just gave me the idea.. Maybe can change my CC points to milage as well.. which bank CC can change their points to milage?

if im not wrong, a lot of banks can actually.. it depends on wat airline u wanna redemn also. For mine is krisflyer. I used various cards to change,SQ american express, citibank , DBS black card... all combine forces..haha..

cow cow >> A lot of banks can change their points to mileage, but not worth it as you have to pay an admin fee. The only card worth gettig might be SQ Amex, as you can get mileage straightaway instead of points.
happy.gif

yup, for SQ Amex, it's auto conversion so i didn't pay admin fee for it. But they don't usually waive annual fee for this card, so u also have to see whether it's worth to pay $180/ annum for e credit card. For Citibank u have to pay admin fee but it's only $25 per conversion so I did one conversion. So end up after admin fees, i paid $425 in all.

My fiance also used his DBS card to pay for my ring and that time Tiffany had a promo with black card, get 10times rewards, so he was able to get a lot more miles at one go.

But best is 2 person can redemn tgt because if only one person can den e other person have to purchase single air ticket via SQ which's usually more exp than 2 to go ticket price.
